Have you ever heard of nationalization? That's the concept of government owning corporations, or in other words, corporations became government - they came together. Socialism advocates nationalizations. Libertarianism and capitalism advocates the exact opposite - private ownership as well as less government involvement.

the nazis were not traditional socialists in either ideology or practice. the socialist programs they did have were hardly radical and in fact were not much more socialist then the programs we have.
the nazis were a fascist movement, on the political spectrum fascism and socialism are polar opposites.

The Nazis were not traditional socialists in some aspects, no, but to characterize them as polar opposites is wrong. Nazism stands with socialism and communism as approximate polar opposites to capitalism, libertarianism and individualism. What characterizes all of the totalitarian ideologies is that the individual is subordinate to the government or the 'benefit of the greater good.' Nazism is not socialism in its traditional sense, but it certainly lends a lot of aspects from it.

Killing Jews was a tactic. The POLICY thereof was to judicially segregate the citizenry into protected and unprotected sub-classes, i.e., Protected Class laws. Democrats & W. European socialists too LOVE, LOVE, LOVE such laws, and are frantically proliferating them.
The "free press" is either one-party or outright state run in socialist nations. In USA, it's 90% or so Democrat. That's a signature trait of fascism.

How come that every time I see a socialistic protest, "death to capitalists" is usually shouted - i.e. death to political opponents. I've seen loads of socialists wanting to shut up opposition and limit free speech (i.e. fairness doctrine).

and for the record, plenty of capitalists do the same thing. for example, coca-cola beating up unionizing south americans and shell gasoline killing environmental activists.

The difference is that when someone does that in a capitalist society, it's called a criminal offence. When a socialist does it in a socialist dictatorship it's called getting rid of a problem and doing what's best for society.

Che Guevara was a guerrilla fighter in a war. of course he killed his opposition. but the thing you have to remember about Guevara, the man was a radical Marxist. he truly believed he was creating a free society. he was not trying to replace one dictatorship with another, but regardless how it began that is what he created evolved into.
it is only a capital offense if the society in question wants it to be. capitalism has nothing to do with anything but economics.

Che Guevara believed, as all socialists, that the people are too stupid to decide for themselves. As Karl Marx described in his manifesto, socialism is the 2. face towards a violent transition into communism and dictatorship (communism is dictatorship as per the definition). He was indeed a Marxist and wanted a communist dictatorship for Cuba.
