I have a 4 channel mixer with 4 different outputs, but only 3 of the outputs will work with this type of cable, the labels are "amp," "booth," and "rec
I tried it that way. lots of weird digital white noise/static from mixer and/or shitty sound card OR rca cable used.. sounds tinny :( hopefully usb2.0 is better? i have my doubts.
@vapors420 son if you got a usb mic and a usb mixer, then plug those into your computer, and record away. you use a xlr is to send sound from one analog device to another. you use the usb to grab analog sounds and make it digital. thats why u have an audio interface(usb mixer)
You put the RCA out to the Line In of the PC with a RCA to plug adapt. and then the headphone out into the RCA input again with adapt or finr a plug to RCA cable. Then use the little button in the console to listen to the sound AFTER it goes in the console and you can monitor yourself that way with only one piece of gear without any loops. DUMB video.
Dude HEllppp me heree. I got a condencer mic samsun something like that and a 8 channel mixer and a good PC support Ram 1 GB 2 hardrive anyway just saying this if it helps
If i record a vocal the feedback is really late how do i make it sound the time that you speak exact moment, it confuses me when i record
Question. I was just blessed with some monitor speakers, powered tannoys discontinued model big and heavy n e ways. I have as a sound card soundblaster audigy 2 mixer is the yamaha Mg82cx, how can i hook these up to my sound card on the comp without an interface. Can I just do rca to 1/8 cable to sound card or ie there a better way

Quick question gents, say we have 6 channel inserts on our cheap mixer for each of our XLR inputs. Would it be possibe to run the mixer into an external interface via the channel inserts? It sounds like it would work well because of the short signal path.
@12ealDeal the problem with this is if you plug the jack plug all the way in it will cut off the signal to the mixer...however you can get around this by not plugging the jack in all the way, just most...
I use to do things this way.... Its good to make sure the mixer is clean and quiet....Behringers do the job well... I am now using a few things...for all of recording needs channel wise, I am using a Behringer LS3242Fx Pro....It routes all my instruments... Then for input I have a Line 6 Tone Port...for my Phantom powered large capsule condenser mics...One is a Sterling ST55 and the other is an Audio Technica AT2020USB condenser... I love that one..Plug and play...
Thank you, I was wondering. about the straightforward approach. Worked right off the bat. seeming how my instructions, were in every language, but mine. No chart.
Now how about a straight forward. Settings, and dialing it . Ive been experiementing, for years. But, have never stumbled on the full sound input. Especially with microphones.
@armyfiddy yes, if not you're going to get sound quality, internal soundcard cant handle too much
if you want something simple and cheap i would recommend getting a simple interface like the lexicon alpha or the maudio fast track, now depending on your budget you could get more with more inputs etc.
the way this set up would be, you connect mic/instrument to mixer then from phones to input on the audio interface thought usb, thats it!
search on amazon (audio interface) look at reviews in google
@kevingp12 yo - would it be better to just purchase a MIDI interface with a higher ammount of channels, than to purchase a mixer and an interface with 1 or 2 channels? Pros and cons would be nice. thanks.
@TheDLovas it depends what you want to do. if you are going to use a midi keyboard then you should get a midi interface, this is becasue since its midi all the sound is processed on your computer so that where you can play around with the sound level.
an average mixer i dont think has any mid input so it would be ideal for recording vocals, guitar, and any instrument with a 1/4 inch out put.
finally it all depends how many things you are going to record at once, each musician is different.
i bought an audio interface its a tascam us-122mk II i just wanna know if i can record a vocal without using a mixer and is my vocal gonna sound good without the mixer? answer plss... thank you!
i bought an audio interface its a tascam us-122mk II i just wanna know if i can record a vocal without using a mixer and is my vocal gonna sound good without the mixer? answer plss... thank you!
here is the issue with that when you use the 1/8 inch input you don't bypass the harddrive making lots of extra noise. try finding those audio conncetors to a usb output so it is less noisy and more digital sounding
i would always use an audio interface! the internal sound cards of every computer are very bad... you do not need any mixer.. take a m-audio, apogee or .... with usb or firewire connection... plug it into your computer and you're ready to record! i do use the apogee ensemble via firewire on my macpro and it works sooo straight!
when i do this the sound quality really sucks and i got a really good mixer . i also have an audio interface how could i connect the mixer to the interface b/c i hear its really good quality
@foreverjimmy basically an audio mixer is a mixing desk like in a recording studio, it has so many channels wich you would, if in a band, use one channel for bass, one for drums, one for guitar, one for microphone etc. This allows you to control the volumes of the instruments and allow a more proffessional recording. Hope this has helped :)

I would recommend a behringer interface it cost about 40$ and works with cubase.
Basically you hook every theng up how i showed you but you dont need the mini jack, just an RCA cable (the red and white ones) and you connect it usb wise.
well on the back of your computer theres a little input that usually has a picture of a microphone and basically you buy a plug that has that on one end and a red and white cable on it like on your tv and on that side you would plug that into your mixer. do you use any particular software

@John51671 when recording use the dry signal from the mixer not from your software for the vocal and mute your vocal track on the software
