hedy, wow...but listen to the tune, it just happens to be the greatest sinatra arrangement you'll ever hear...you better not listen to it a few times, cause it grows like crazy...francis, you're numero uno
She was a real star. That was the day when people looked UP to see the stars. If their indiscretions got out of hand, the public would ignore them and they'd be box office poison.
I think the public then was just as hungry for any juicy stories about the troubles that a star has as today's public is. I doubt the movie stars would be box office poison. Think about Lana Turner's life and all her miseries and the public just ate up stories about her and got her popular again!
I'll take a stab at it too. The clothes were elegant and stylish, gloves, hats, suits, gowns, gorgeous clothes, their hair was always fixed impeccably, were manicured, and eyebrows plucked. They took pride in looking feminine. All glammed out.
Several Lamarr films are available on Netflix, including "Algiers." Charles Boyer's Pepe le Moko character is the inspiration for Pepe le Pew, the amorous cartoon skunk. It's a pretty good flick and this adds some great fun to it!
I'm not sure she holds an actual patent on cell phones, asabatella, but it was during WWII that she came up with the idea for what we now know as "frequency hopping" as it could be applied to guiding torpedos via radio waves.
The Lamarr-Antheill patent is now recognized as the basis for many, many other military and civilian patents in fields ranging from secure military comms to, yes, cell phones.
i had no idea she had the pattern for the cell phone. i knew she was very smart and an engineer and it the late 1990s cal poly tech awarded her for a formula she came up with during world war 2 that allowed the navy to sink german submarines.
No doubt at all, she was and she is the most beautiful of them all. Nobody more beautiful than MISS HEDY LAMARR, "the most beautiful woman in the world" she was called once, and in show business there was no one above her in beauty. I wish that we could see more of her in YouTube. Thank you for sharing this video.
Agreed! Sorry for the poor quality fo this video. I will put a more pristine copy on Youtube later. My friend Patrick pointed out that one of the photos is of actress Joan Bennett. That photo won't be in the final cut. Thanks again for your comment - Dave

Why are the women of the 1930's more attractive than they are today?
whispperson 4 years ago
No hard drugs ( well, maybe some down-pills...) no silicone, not so many pervert people around like today,
no botox...etc....just think.

Did you all know that Hedy holds the pattern for the cell phone. Not sure of the date probably during the forties. She was ahead of time.
