  • parents teach their children about santa which is for the benefit of chilldren after a certain age the truth comes out. however, with the gods the lie is handed down from generation to generation & never really questioned for it is based purely on faith (which of course means nothing). Hence, believers (in pseudo gods) cant b told on the contrary (even in this case with scientific evidence that the indians werent of iraeli descent), the truth is overwhelming--its easier to belive in the lies

  • Using the same DNA tests would indeed not be viable since it's been proven that any mishandling or even the age of the sample can mar the results. It would stand to reason that a DNA sample 1,000's of years old wouldn't be 100% reliable for the same reasons.

  • Les are liars Joseph smith was killed by masons and died in a two way gun battle. LOL I'm in slc the Mormon Capitol and watched a movie at the "temple" that was a lie. He is a pervert a racist a liar and evil I'm glad he was shot

  • @1980BirdDawg and so are the writers of the Bible, should I see the Ark of the Covenant, the Ten Commandments, and some tangible Garden of Eden to believe the Bible? Or even better, should I accept if someone claims to have found the Holy Grail, accept it as the real McCoy? Or how about the identation in some random mountain to believe in Noah and the Ark?

  • Mormon fans were particularly excited about Fredette (due to the fact that he is a Mormon). He would be an instant fan favorite for the Jazz, a team in a state whose population is over 50 percent Mormon. He would light a fire under a tired and .

  • Mormon art has long had that plastic backlit look about it, but to each his own. Until Jon McNaughton, that is. McNaughton, while claiming no party allegiances, appears to have a pipeline to the past. You know, that special pipeline

  • Fact two: See Fact one again it's pretty impressive.

Fact three: They actually in fact have found SOME markers for Middle-Eastern DNA...about the amount you'd expect given over 2000 years time and mixing of genes.

Fact four: This film is attempting to destroy an entire faith by a false and non-doctrinal assumption about said faith. They should have actually investigated more accurately the beliefs of those they were so eager to attack.

For the truth about our beliefs go to lds dot org

    :)

  • @pangea7777 what is the source for them finding hebrew dna?...and in who?...when?...

  • @pangea7777 I went to your lds.org & it is filled with Joe's lies. He lied about him having only 1 wife when in fact he had at least 7. It changed the original 1st visioin from "a pillar of fire" to a pillar of light." Why? The church changed the original 1st vision from "I saw 1 personage" to "I saw 2 personages". Another mormon lie. Why? If the Mormon church is true why all these lies? What are they trying to cover up? We are saved by grace. period. Mormon works will not get you saved. PERIOD.

  • @sirhood2 God changes things depending on how humble and good the people are. and since the dependents of the lemenitas are all good now the BOM needs to be up dated. and since the profits of this church have not been honest in the actual sunday classes by showing a perfect J Smith. hmm this is not making any since...

ok God has the power to tell J Smith to change what ever God wants to change in any book he wants. and i'm sure J Smith had permission for all the lies as well.

  • @pepstuge What says any of what you said? Where, dear sirhood, may I find it, including book, page number, and URL if neccessary. You see, I take a look even at sources, and that's how it goes, unless you are worried I might come to different conclusions from reading the same full book, perhaps?

  • @pangea7777 It misrepresents science overall, as someone who deals in science, I would ask about the methods, the preceding assumptions, and the measured data? What unique genetic markers are they looking for? Again, no answers.

  • The entire DNA argument is ridiculous considering several facts. Fact one: The Book of Mormon itself states that there were indigenous peoples in the Americas when those who came over from the middle-east arrived. The almost immediately inter-married and integrated their DNA with that of the native people. Remember the most recent group having done so in the Book of Mormon was in 600BC approximately 2611 years ago. Any remnant Hebrew DNA would be nearly impossible to find at this point.

  • @pangea7777 The Bom lied when it said that there were indigenous peoples in the Americas. Another 1 of Joe's lies. "Remember the most recent group having done so in the Book of Mormon was in 600BC approximately 2611 years ago. " But the bom is filled with lies. Why?

  • @sirhood2 actually the Book of Mormon told the truth when it recorded that there were numerous peoples populating the Americas at the time Lehi and his family arrived this is proven out by archeology and the Book of Mormon they both support one another.

  • it is pretty sad how someone can be deceived by such crap this video is so true how can someone base their eternal salvation on someone who is a liar after the bible there was to be nothing else not the BOM the Doctrine an covenants or pearl of great price they are all lies if mormons really want to know the truth get rid of the BOM Doctrines and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price and read the Bible everything you to know to obtain eternal salvation is in there nowhere else!!!

  • @branson2010

"after the bible there was to be nothing else"

And what exactly is the premise on which you base this rather broad conclusion?

And please don't say the book of revelations.

  • @canadianbacon007

i was refering to no other books like the BOM Doctrines and Covenants and Peral of Great Price

  • @branson2010

You refer to it, and that's basically all you have. Vague unsubstantiated references.

  • @canadianbacon007

well i see it like this read the bible and everything u need to know will be answered not the BOM Doctrines and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price

  • @canadianbacon007

thats all i need im just trying to prove the book of mormon is false nothing in there has any truth to it for example have u heard of Jerusalem Bethlehem Nazareth that the bible mentions I could go there today if I wanted cause they exist. The Book of Mormons mentions Bountiful Zarahemla Nephi have u ever iheard of them???? Theres no way I could go there cause they dnt exist!!! One bad apple spoils the whole bunch so that discredits the whole BOM!!!!

  • @branson2010 I started reading your comment "it is pretty sad how someone can be decieved by such crap" I thought you were referring to this video which you were, you are correct not even Mormons believe in the propoganda presented in this video, nobody does, that is the point of the video to present lies, half-truths, and to be a propoganda hate-film. If you had actually read the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price you'd know they actually support the Holy Bible.

  • @branson2010 Yeah, the Bible has about plenty of things I would like to see for myself as proof that they existed. Hmmm... where's the Ark of the Covenant, the Stone Tablets with the Ten Commandments, or the Tomb of Jesus Christ? We don't know, and we can't prove them. Where's the massive ecological footprint made by thousands of prople walking around between Egypt and Israel for decades? Can we prove that a person can get mana from heaven by asking God?

  • @suemorphplus2009 End of the story for you branson, is the fact that there isn't experimental or solid archealogical proof beyond storytelling that anything from it is true. It's just the way that it is. For all I know, the Israelites were just some people who seceded from the Babylonians and made up some great details to make their origins sound better. But I don't, however, I do believe that those events happened, but it's only by my honest faith and prayer that I can believe the Bible.

  • Clearly concerned, she asked me, “And how does it get us?”

The question first reveals purity, but it also reveals a concern for how to avoid involvement with sin.

  • I silently prayed for inspiration and tried to respond as simply as I could: “Sin is the intentional disobedience to God’s commandments. It makes Heavenly Father sad, and its results are suffering and sadness.”

  • @omiolo What must one do to be saved? What must one do to enter the make-believe celestial kingdom?

My Bible tells me that we are saved by grace! PERIOD! You do your works in vain. Works will not get you into the celestial kingdom. Also, No one can bestow the Holy Ghost onto another. It comes directly from God, and not from some wanabe god! Your religion says we can become gods. You are lowering God to a mere human. That is wrong! You will be punished for your beliefe in that lier Smith.

  • @sirhood2 "What must one do to enter the make-believe celestial kingdom?"

Baptism and the Holy Ghost are the ONLY two ordinances required for entrance into the Celestial Kingdom.

  • What began as a lark has become a second full-time job for Elton, a Brigham Young University graduate who lives in Huntington Beach, Calif. And it's remarkably popular -- themormonbachelor*com attracts between 4,000 and 5,000 unique visitors per day. Hundreds of single Mormons want to be part of the Web show, which is planning to film a third season later this year in Provo.

  • Erin Elton was appalled to discover that her friend hadn't been out on a date in a year. So she launched the online "Mormon Bachelorette" series and got Aubrey Messick engaged. "It's kind of crazy," Elton understated.

  • In his book "We'll Find the Place: The Mormon Exodus, 1847-1848," Richard E. Bennett brings those words to life for general readers and scholars alike. Bennett's book provides great insight into one of the most amazing journeys in American history and helps readers understand the toil and strife a wounded people went through to find peace.

  • "WE'LL FIND THE PLACE: THE MORMON EXODUS, 1847-1848," by Richard E. Bennett, University of Oklahoma Press, 448 pages, $21.95

The familiar words of William Clayton's powerful hymn "Come Come Ye Saints" resonate in the ears of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints everywhere.

  • 'We'll Find the Place' is an insightful look at the Mormon pioneer exodus

    Mormon Times

  • I'm sure that the number of DNA testing done on Native American, ancient as well as modern, now exceeds 10,000 with NO CHANGE in the results.

  • Ephriam and Manassa were sons of Joshua who was a son of Israel (Jacob) so the DNA of Ephriam and Manassah would be... ding ding ding!! HEBREW!!

  • @schmoel2

Ephraim and Manassas were the sons of "Joseph"

  • @canadianbacon007 You are correct, my bad. I think you knew what I meant. Joseph was one of the sons of Jacob (Israe). IN the video he makes a statement that because these supossed Jews came over, they would have mysterious genes based on the fact that there was no way we could know what Ephriam and Mennassa's genes were like... Mitochondrial DNA does not change from male to male so it would be the same as everyone elses if these were ansestors.

  • @schmoel2

    "supossed Jews"?

Decendants of Joseph were not Jews.

Futhermore, Mitochondrial DNA comes from the mother.

Sariah's ancestry is not mentioned in the BoM.

These matters have been resolved for a long time now.

DNA in these matters is inconclusive

  • @canadianbacon007 Well, you're half correct. Mitochondreal DNA is passed on to females via the Mother. However, Fathers pass 100% of their DNA to their sons. I'm a kinesiologist

  • @schmoel2

    "I'm a kinesiologist"

physical activity is a broad spectrum.

Not sure what it has to do with genetics though.

  • Your opinion is noted. However, my statement still stands. Of course, this probably doesn't matter to you. You've already heard the false information you just gave me and you're completely content. I'm sure you got a warm fuzzy and that's all you need to convince you. Well friend (and I mean that) if you continue to believe the heresy of the false prophet Joseph Smith, you will end up in a very hot hell. DNA aside, he doesn't biblically qualify to be a prophet. He never should be called one.

  • Waaaiiiit! okay, I just checked my info and I was most definitely wrongo about the DNA! Sorry about that! You are correct. The rest of my statement still stands. The reason you affirm these things to be true is not biblical. It is mystical. Joseph Smith is no more a prophet than I am an olympian. He does not meet the Biblical standard for a prophet thus the entire religion collapses on this truth.

  • @canadianbacon007

Forget the "Jews" and think "Hebrew" or "Israelite"--it's only one step back from Jew to Israel in the geneological chain.

  • Indeed, at one level, Mormons do not distinguish between "secular" and "religious" knowledge. They regard all forms of truth as relevant and sacred

  • . . .The Mormon understanding of education is inclusive, not only of different kinds of learning, but in other ways as well. Church teachings outline a vast field of valuable knowledge, incorporating an unlimited array of secular and religious subjects. Geography, culture, history, science and innumerable other subjects fall within these wide parameters, which extend well beyond the conventional scope of religious knowledge

  • Democratic gubernatorial Rory Reid's newest campaign ad shows the candidate demonstrating his bilingual bonafides.

The ad is introductory in nature and features Reid speaking in Spanish directly to the viewers along with personal pictures with his family and from his Mormon mission in Argentina.

  • As the sun rises, individuals are able to see the light approaching, and an identifiable moment occurs when the sun has risen. Although these patterns of revelation are powerful, Elder Bednar shared a caution.

  • Elder Bednar used the example of light shining as the sun rises in the morning.

"As we study, as we ponder as we wrestle … into our mind and into our heart comes through the power of the Holy Ghost increased understanding. This particular pattern of revelation is much more common than rare."

  • Bretleigh Sandorf, Kirk Simmonds, Breanna Wanlass, Jordan Conte, Mackenzie Cottle and Lane Harris stand in line as they wait to hear Elder David A. Bednar at the Ogden Institute of Religion on Sunday, October 17.

  • Students stand in line outside the Ogden Institute of Religion building prior to listening to Elder David A. Bednar, of the Quorum of the Twelve, speak on Sunday, October 17.

  • On a personal level, one success story from the campaign is about a young man who is a pre-med student in Baton Rouge, La. He saw one of the ads and went to mormon.org. He chatted with missionaries and found out where to go to attend Church in his area and how to dress. He showed up on Sunday in a white shirt and tie. He was just recently baptized.

  • "When you create a profile, keep in mind that the idea is to talk about who you are and what you do rather than try to teach a lesson," said Brother Swofford. "We have had a tremendous response to our website from our members. We worked with the Mormon Mommy blogger community around the launch of the site and had a great deal of help. The site has about 4,000 profiles up now with over 20,000 in the review or creation process."

  • Of course all the references on the comments are from Mormon "studies" and "experts."

  • Why do Mormons always have a "revelation" and "modify" their beliefs every time science and history prove their beliefs to be lies? Don't Mormons see the obvious here? Are they that delusional?

  • @HeresyHunter1711

Yes, HeresyHunter, I'm afraid they ARE that delusional. I use to be one of those delusional ones, about 12 years ago. I was lucky. I saw through the mind control and the delusion extant in Mormonism, as well as the lies and cover-ups, and was able to escape with family (7 of 8 of us) with only minor injury. The "injury" was felt by my TBM siblings and parents, tho I was sad for their dismay, I was shouting for joy to myself! Still am!! My adult children thank me often.

  • At one point, the ambassador indicated that he and his wife would soon celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. Offering his congratulations, Elder Schwitzer responded that he and Sister Schwitzer would soon celebrate their 40th anniversary as well. This was one of several "coincidences" noted during the tour that invited the Spirit's testifying influence.

  • This video is really great if you turn off those annoying annotations. I used to be mormon, and am so grateful that I was saved from that santa claus worshipping group of nutjobs. Thank you!

  • @windigo77 once saved always saved..... how convenient! But very UNbiblical.

  • @omiolo

Start with John 10. You have to be pretty full of yourself to think you have the power to keep your salvation.

  • @windigo77 "I used to be mormon"

and so now you can spend your time instead of helping others, you can spend it surfing pornography. You are sooo saved.....

  • @omiolo HAHA, of course a christian's first thought as to what I would be doing is pornography, get your mind out of the gutter. I spend my time developing websites, like the one your using now. Don't be so presumptuous. Just because porn is your secret obsession doesn't mean it is mine.

  • @omiolo "so now you can spend your time instead of helping others, you can spend it surfing pornography. You are sooo saved....."

and how are you any different to windigo77? are you sooooo saved? what are your works, omiolo, you keep avoiding it. all these judgments toward "sinners" but you still can't justify your own unchristlike attitude and attributes.

"Behold, are ye stripped of pride? I say unto you, if ye are not ye are NOT prepared to meet God."

  • @SvenTveskegg "are you sooooo saved? "

that is for the Great Judge to decide NOT me. I realize your types think that you get to decide who is saved INSTEAD of Jesus Christ. Those who understand the scriptures find that offensive.

  • @omiolo look at this circle of argument you just made:

you MOCK windigo and BEAR FALSE WITNESS against him by JUDGING: "instead of helping others, you can spend it surfing pornography" (yeah, i'm sure you don't look at porn, either, omiolo;)

then i call you out on the fact that you just JUDGED him and ask what "good works" will save you and you reply back saying (and this is CLASSIC): "I realize your types think that you get to decide who is saved "

lmao do you see the hypocrisy here?

  • @omiolo

It's the Utah Mormons that are hung up on the porn.

Utah leads it Nation in internet porn use.

That should tell you something about the "fruit' of Mormonism...not to mention Utah is always among the top states in Bankruptcies, perscription drug use for depression, suicides among young men, teen pregnancies, abuse, etc.

Some example for letting your light so shine, eh?

  • @42apostate "It's the Utah Mormons that are hung up on the porn."

while I am sure there are some, if you look at the data closely, it is the NON and ANTImormon communities in Utah that seem to be the porn addicts.

One day, I hope you look at the FACTS before posting.......

  • @omiolo

What evidence do you have that shows that a 60% LDS population in Utah is NOT responsible for the porn addiction in Utah?

This is EXACTLY what one would expect in a society of sexually repressed people--they CAN'T express themselves in PUBLIC ways because "What would my Bishop say, or my Home Teacher, or my EQP--not to mention my molly-Mormon wife?!?!?", so they try sneaking into porn on the net--out of sight of other members.

It makes PERFECT SENSE. Non's don't need to sneak.

    .

  • @omiolo

Nons won't have any compunction about visiting the many whorehouses in Utah to get their jollies--especially the whorehouses up at BYU staffed by BYU Co-Eds and LDS housewives looking to earn a buck on the side--or more correctly, on their BACKside. I live in Utah and am very aware of what goes on here--out of public view. I don't know these things by experience. I have a wife that provides all the "porn" I need, so you can get your mind out of your LDS induced gutter.

  • @42apostate "What evidence do you have that shows that a 60% LDS population in Utah is NOT responsible for the porn addiction in Utah?"

the data from the research article that says Utah leads the nation in pornography. That should be OBVIOUS.

  • @omiolo

    WHAT "data", WHERE?

As ususal you (LDS) make assertions with ZERO supporting facts!!

However! If I were in YOUR shoes, I would try that ruse too, knowing as we BOTH DO, that you have no choice! ALL you have are baseless assertions.--but then, God loves you for your attempt and will forgive the lies because it was done for righteous reasons! HAH!!

  • @42apostate "WHAT "data", WHERE?"

so you can reference the article but you have NO idea about the data associated with it? Why doesn't that seem pathetic and WRONG to you?

  • Meanwhile, most would not consider the Deep South a hotbed of handcart activity. Besides the region's lack of connection, geographically and historically, with the great Mormon migration, there are other potentially discouraging factors: The heat becomes unbearably humid; the terrain, though not desert-like, presents its own challenges: low-lying tree branches, giant insects and mile after mile of kudzu, "the vine that ate the South."

  • Youth from the Lilburn Georgia Stake push handcarts up a wooded hill during a pioneer trek held June 17-19 in teh North Georgia Mountains. More than 170 youth participated in the event, including some who are pioneers by being first- or second-generation members of the Church.

  • At the insistence of Constantine, christianity was mandatory. Today there are thousands of versions of Jesus , Mormon jesus numbered among them. However, Christians cannot agree on who Jesus was. To announce your christians begs the question, which one ?

A fundamental flaw of all christians is intolerance and secular Supremacism.

Your tempted to bear testimony of the only true Jesus. ?

  • @kramd1 "A fundamental flaw of all christians is intolerance and secular Supremacism. "

intolerance for evil and destruction is NOT a bad thing!

  • This may sound harsh, but these people, DVD's, etc. are tools of Satan. Satan is working feverishly, but he will not prevail.

  • People have tried to prove that the Book of Mormon, the fact is nobody has. there is only one explanation that is still believable today as much as it was 200 years ago. IT'S TRUE. Stop trusting in man and trust in God.

  • @Standard088 We LDS do trust in God, not man. All you that want proof are sign seekers and I doubt you would have accepted Moses had you been there.

  • Alright, Chuck isn't claiming to be an Egyptologist, he is claiming he's talked to many. You've written nothing to address his very well reasoned point of wouldn't there be stories of some these guys reading the papri and being blown away by the accuracy of Smiths translation and subsequently join the church? This film probably couldn't get an egyptologist that believed sharing Truth with mormons wasn't a waste of time. They've been saying its BS since the P of GP was first published.

  • Golly, I grew up LDS and I was taught that Aboriginals were the descendants of the Lamanites, are you suggesting you weren't taught the same? You don't see this Levi Young Quote with the context of the history, as just little bit of back pedaling and damage control, as the case for the ice bridge was becoming air tight around this point? OOO speaking of Geography, look in history of Zions camp and that whole Zelph Story, the white laminate! Its obvi nuts, explains y its suppressed by the church

  • this video is full of distorted truth.

  • @cbonner83

    YES

The book of Abraham is Joseph Smith distorted version and not even close.

  • @cbonner83 name one ?

  • He told the audience to think about how we're not that different from each other. He said that we all will ask or be asked the questions,"Where did we come from? Why are we here? And Where are we going?" at some point in our lives.

  • Brother Bailey, a popular singer, opened with an a capella version of his song "All The While," a testimony of his personal journey to find Christ and His gospel. The peace and spiritual atmosphere of the room continued as Brother Bailey shared his unique life experiences

  • Both the fireside and the post-fireside reception gave many people the opportunity to learn that Oakland Temple Hill is accessible to the public. Many commented on the beautiful surroundings and serenity that was felt there.

The fireside began with a rendition of "More Holiness Give Me" sung by full-time elders and sisters from the Oakland/San Francisco mission who had sung the National Anthem at the Warriors game.

  • Golden State Warriors and San Francisco Giants staff members attended the fireside along with local journalists, civic leaders and other friends of the church. Some of the attendees were invited to the family history center for a brief tour before the fireside and were invited back to explore their personal history.

  • While people waited in line to greet him, they were offered tours of the center by sister missionaries. Brother Bailey stayed for two hours to talk to people, sign autographs and have pictures taken.

  • The fireside was an opportunity for Church members to invite their friends to hear his story of how he became an NBA player and a convert to the Church. About 750 people attended. Afterward, the crowd was invited to move on the Oakland California Temple grounds from the Interstake Center to the visitors center to meet Brother Bailey personally.

  • All religions eat each other.

  • Too bad Captain didn't die in the flood ...)

  • I posted some video showing Champollion was well known to Americans in 1833. I show correspondence between Champollion and a Prof Rafinesque. And much more. Thus Joseph Smith should have know better than to interpret the Book of Abraham as he did

  • Used to have this video, gave it to someone, now can't find website to get more. do you know what the website is?

  • In keeping with captainblewhards lies...

get off our sites, you anti-mormon shill parrot!

Nothing you say has any substance nor is it true!

  • In keeping with LDS belief in the

"young-earth" theory, which holds that humans have only existed for about 5000 or so years, LDS apologists date the flood at circa

3000 BC. The problem with that is that the archaelogical and DNA evidence

demonstrate that human civilization in the Americas is thousands of years older than that, and there has never been a break in the chain of continuous human habitation in the Americas such as a catastrophic flood which killed everyone.

  • Comment removed

  • Interestingly enough, all the egyptologists on this video who claim Joseph Smith to be a fraud are questionable themselves. They are imperfect men who have attended man made universities to study about egypt when NONE of them come from Egypt or have been brought up in that native tongue to profess that they would be able to understand the dialect of egyptian writings during the time of Abraham. These men think they know much when they forget that God knows all.

  • So somehow that makes Joe Smith more credible? By you trying to attack other people and their education? You don't need to be Latin to understand Latin. Your conclusions is baseless as is your logic. Joe was a fraud, deal with it.

  • A scintilla of evidence would be nice. Claiming the locations of these geographies and peoples are not known isn't helpful in proving the Mormon argument.. We need some meat to chew on. a location. like hill cumorah, which i understand is now not the hill cumorah, but a hill named cumorah. does anyone have an idea of where a real Cumorah hill is? Does this mean the Garden of Eden isn't in Missouri and JD Lee was wrong to build his home on it? I want to know..thanks....

  • Joe Smith claimed it was the hill very near his house which is where he got the gold plates allegedly. If that's not the case then he told yet another lie "modern revelation" had to correct so as to make Mormonism look more plausibly "true."

  • @praestant8 As I understand it, certain Mopoloigists argue Cumorah might be some other Cumorah. This is going to far, like arguing for "foaming universes" to protect ones theological arguments. But this goes against the bible and one God, one Universe. But Mormon theology does argue for Polytheism and a Universe of Pre Existing Matter.

  • Yes indeed.

  • But can we now prove that you are a part of him? If we had his DNA... maybe. And if we did have his DNA.. and we didn't know you.. how would we find his remnant? Just do the numbers. There is no way that starting with 30 people you could have so many people to kill in the Book of Mormon. There had to be people there already. Common sense dictates that. Those who contributed to the Book of Mormon did not write about the other people and their history.. they wrote about their own.

  • AntiCitizen is a Troll that posts anti-mormon spam all over the internet!

    FAIRLDSdotORG

    for the truth

  • One thing I struggle with is how you can honestly support the local hypothesis theory. Any honest reading of the BoM gives the reader the impression that Lehi's group encountered a vast, empty wilderness and then populated it themselves. What scriptures give you the idea that they integrated with a bunch of locals and had sufficient influence to convert them all to Christianity?

  • Comment removed

  • Jacob 7:1 And now it came to pass after some years had passed away, there came a man among the people of Nephi, whose name was Sherem. ----- How is it possible that Jacob.. who is the son of Lehi.. the brother of Nephi.. did not know this man called Sherem? For if the land was indeed a vast and empty wilderness.. then this man Sherem would have been known by Jacob.. but he didn't know him. There was a people already in the land.

  • That is a good start, but you need something a little more convincing than "there came a man" in order to interpret the passage as you are. It could just as easily mean some dude who was born and raised, or came from the Lamanite side. Do you have anything more?

  • Wherefore, it came to pass that I, Nephi, did take my family, & also Zoram and his family, & Sam, mine elder brother & his family, & Jacob & Joseph, my younger brethren, & also my sisters, & all those who would go with me. & all those who would go with me were those who believed in the warnings and the revelations of God; wherefore, they did hearken unto my words. AND ALL THOSE WHO WOULD GO WITH ME. If they were all family.. why say.. ALL THOSE? Did he not say who of his family went with him?

  • Again, not bad, but you are very loosely interpreting the words. How does this reconcile with, say, D&C 19:27?

"Which is my word to the Gentile, that soon it may go to the Jew, of whom the Lamanites are a remnant, that they may believe the gospel, and look not for a Messiah to come who has already come."

The word "Lamanite" is used here to mean American Indians. So quite plainly, revelation seems to indicate that American Indians = Lamanites = Jewish Remnants. How do you reconcile this?

  • 1st you must define the word "remnant". (1: a usually small part, member, or trace remaining.) define "Lamanite" you must turn to the BoM. 14 But I, Jacob, shall not hereafter distinguish them by these names, but I shall call them Lamanites that seek to destroy the people of Nephi, and those who are friendly to Nephi I shall call Nephites, or the people of Nephi, according to the reigns of the kings. So the people who are left over.. a "remnant".. would be who he is speaking to.

  • If that were the end of the story, then I would be inclined to consider the matter settled. I don't mind so much if you take a few creative liberties in the interpretation of scripture in order to reconcile things with modern science. But then what do you do when prophets and apostles go record to indicate the exact opposite of what you are claiming? What is the point of modern revelation when if you can just pick and choose what to believe anyway?

  • You can't say that it is not there. Take the child of Nephi.. a male.. and he mates with a native of the population... and after the birth of his baby.. he dies. 1000 years later.. is there a remnant of his seed? Of course there is. Is it something you could actually trace by DNA? I don't think so. But whoever these people are today.. if you could actually trace the genealogy back.. you would find that his "seed" was in that people. Modern revelation is only good if God reveals it.

  • "You can't say that it is not there."

I never claimed anything was not anywhere. What are you referring to?

I'm just trying to see what scriptures give you reason to suppose there were others to mingle with, and how this reconciles with the words of apostles who have declared otherwise. I also find it hard to swallow that so much inter-mingling went on, and all we have to show for it are a handful of very loosely interpreted passages.

  • It only takes one to intermingle.. and that person's seed then becomes a remnant of all of his fathers and father's father and so on. I mean.. have you ever checked back on your own genealogy and see how one guy some 1000 years ago got married and had some children.. and whoops.. here you are today with how many relatives that you DON'T know about? You are a remnant of his seed... and because you are a part of this people.. that one guy can claim that his descendants are American.

  • Satan works in mysterious ways. I believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of god. Satan is hard at work to disprove this.

  • Amen.

  • @UTSLC801 The father of all lies knows how to stir the hearts of others against the true of the church doesn't he? We thank the O God for a Prophet!

  • @UTSLC801 From the mouths of babes...

  • @UTSLC801

4 ways we know Joseph smith is a deciple of Satan.

    1. Joseph talked to Nephi, a man who died centuries before

    2. It is mormon doctrine to baptise the dead

    3. Mormon doctrine teaches an infinite amount of gods

    4. Joseph Smith prophesied that New York, Us government, congress, and all of his enemies to be destroyed. He prophesied that non-Mormons "shame" will be made manifest by mormon evangelists. He prophesied that civil war would involve all nations of earth.

    What a hack.

  • If you dont like the opening ust deal with the text. the same problem exists. the intro now becomes a deflection from the primary issue. JS idenitied AdamonDiamon and other locals. On the DNA issue, not addressing Jewish, etc DNA is a non issue. It comes up as they say and there is a comparative basis. I think history will show a true mediteranian link to the Indians. any how, Canadianbacon is very good at deflecting the issue. Better than BYP. C.B. has his rhetorical skills in place.

  • The intro was never meant to be recieved as revelaion. Since the intro is what is being attacked , it's the intro which is explained, That's not a deflection in my book. As for the the AdamonDiamon issue, what's your point?

  • Are you referring to Adam-ondi-Ahman?

  • Hehe, that's why he removed the video.

  • What video would that be?

  • This one. The anti-Mormonism exposed pt. 11.

  • what do you mean it was removed? It's still up.

  • Not for me...maybe a bug.

  • If it wasn't up, how do you think you were still commeting on this board?

  • I have seen a lot of videos say "NO longer available" or related. But its there, it just wont come up. .

  • So far, not been a shred of archeological or historical evidence supporting Joseph Smith has been discovered. Not only has the BOM been changed thousands of times (the original is hilariously full of grammatical, historical and logical errors and sounds like the hick farmer he was) but now the Book of Abraham has been proved to be a hoax.

Yet Mormons act as if the fact that their founder fabricated their holy books is par for the course, offering no explanation or apology. Disgusting.

  • What is disgusting, is your ignorance on the matter, coupled with the outright lies you try to pass off as truth. Nothing but mere assertions, conjecture, and bias. Get a life, better yet, get a clue.

  • Spoken like a true robot Please name the "outright lies" in my post and I'll apologize. You cannot challenge a single statement so you spew the party line.

Once more: Explain the BOM tales in light of DNA, linguistic & anthropological evidence? And what about that infamous Book of Abraham? LOL

Are you so scared that you can't even consider the overwhelming evidence that exists? If ignorance is bliss then you have to be the happiest creature on Earth or Kobol. Blind faith indeed.

  • Your whole statement was tissue of ill researched absurdity, mixed with half a dozen logical fallacies. In short, you don't have a clue what you are talking about. As far as proving it to you, try readung something else besides anti-mormon literature, and find out for y'self. I have nothing to prove, since you didn't prove any of your own premises to begin with. All premise, no conclusion. Insults mixed with half truths. More well poisoning, by a clueless hack.

  • canadian - You don't realize how utterly ridiculous you sound by insisting the BOM (and Smith) is correct despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

Your position is that every non-Mormon scientist in the world ia wrong but Smith, a hick farmer with a strong sex drive, got the "truth" by looking in his hat with magic stones & translating gold tablets that then vanished. Yeah right.

I've heard of blind faith but this is carrying ti to a whole new level. LOL

  • What evidence is that? What scientists are those? You blow your horn of doubt, but it's nothing more than hot air. You are a garden variety critic with no facts, just ad-hominem attacks. One fallacious statement after another. If anyone is being ridiculous in their argument, it's you. If this were a proper debate, you would be laughed out of the room.

  • canadian - Evidence? It's YOUR duty to provide evidence that the BOM is "true". Scientists? How about all non-Mormon scientist for starters. Please cite my false statements & I will apologize.

Evidence is damning. Nothing has ever been found confirming any person or event in the BOM. But scientific evidence contradicts the BOM. Only a moron would actually believe Adam, Jesus, God, Moses, Abraham & Peter visited a hick farmer in NY. I guess they teach English in heaven. LOLOL

  • Look pal, you haven't cited one bit of evidence. My annotations in these videos at least respond to something. All you do is make empty statements about supposed non Mormon scientists, and nothing ever having been found to corroborate the BoM. You made these baseless accusations, and now i'm supposed to refute these empty premises for your amusement. You have alot gall.

  • You have no idea how to argue your points except to meander through a few mere assertions, which you parrot from some anti mormon litersature or video. You argue like some child in a schoolyard. . Your opening salvo of ad-homninem attack and your attempt to poison the well have discredited you. Your follow up reply is in the same fallacious league as well, so do us all a favor and take a hike.

  • @canadianbacon007

    mormon insults ... " Take a hike " sounds a bit childish.

    smb, makes a valid point.

  • @kramd1 How is "take a hike" an insult?

Maybe take a "walkabout" would have been better?

  • @kramd1 So-called DNA research is inconclusive. I have read and researched it. It does not prove anything about the Book of Mormon.

  • @LDStothecore I Bof M stories that my teacher told to me , area NOT about the lamanities in ancient history. DNA research... the human genome project says to me ... Asian : )

and wait a tick.....No Zarahemla, steel swords, horses, elephants or jesus pre columbus either.

  • @kramd1 Sounds like you have not done any research, only listening to what others say. Too bad. The Book of Mormon is true.

  • @LDStothecore I would say the opposite, I have read all the standard works, including commentaries, I study religion and anthropology, I have an interest in religion but find myself not given to latching onto any faith. The B of M cannot be validated with archeological finds, ie: No Zarahemla, & DNA findings don't back up the B of M claim of Indians being of Israelite decent.

How do you conclude it is true ? pray tell , god told you ?

  • @kramd1 Are you seeking for a sign? It doesn't matter if there is physical evidence of the Book of Mormon. I know by the power of the Spirit that it is true. Why do you believe things from the Bible that cannot be proven?

  • @LDStothecore I don't

  • @kramd1 Do you believe the Bible? Are you a Christian?

  • Such irony hearing you gripe about ad hominem attacks.

Then again, such irony hearing from me, too :)

  • lol, amen smb. It's also an awesome to say that the book of Mormon was changed even though it was spoken letter by letter, word for word and still had a ton of errors. God's word would never be imperfect. He might've had something of a case if he didn't state right at the beginning that it was directly from God.

  • Oh and this video is hilarious. I've never read or heard any of this video's supposed "Mormon teachings" in Church meetings, seminary, or classes. I'm not sure why they think Mormons believe this crap.

Mormons know that the Lamenites were NOT Hebrews.

This video would be like making a video about how Baptists believe that all Jewish peop
