  • I love these arguments about a piece of art. If you think this is a great song then it is a great song if you don't then it isnt. Please refrain from trying to convince me the sky is blue

  • Awesome. Can't wait to see them come back to Toronto.

  • We could play the "that's the same chord progression" game all day. These are great lyrics woven into a great song with exceptionally tasteful delivery. This band is far from mediocre! I'm curious as to what you consider the good original "modern rock"??? "Modern" is not a word that comes to mind when I listen to or think of DDW.

  • @hearya17 Yes, we could play that game all day, which is why i don't like much music made these days. Their lyrics may be great, i concede. THe delivery is nice, yes. The song is well produced. But the composition is so stale and unoriginal! The good original modern rock is limited, in my opinion. I think Radiohead is one of the few truly relevant bands these days - the music they make is not only incredibly catchy and "moving" but stunningly original and unusual for hte most part.

  • F**K originality....I want to be moved.

  • @clean3 We all want to be moved. To say f**k originality - really? Are you serious? Do you apply that policy to all your music tastes? Come on now. I personally value originality quite highly, as you can probably tell by now. That's why I don't listen to much rock music made recently - i am pessimistic about possibilities for originality in rock and roll in the post- classic rock era

  • lets hear your stuff...the 80s was the decade of mediocrity.....but then you probably like kiss and have a 80s hair do mulitman....covers or rip offs are the highest form of flattery....that being said these guys are original support them or don't listen...i totally agree with you ..hearya17

  • @redeyewill1 the 80s was the decade of mediocrity of course. Bruce Cockburn is a timeless legend however, and i can't imagine that you'd dislike his song "lovers in a dangerous time" if you like this one - after all, it's a very similar song as I pointed out. I'm not into most of hte 80s style stuff, being more into blues, rock and roll, jazz and hip hop myself. Rip offs may be the highest form of flattery, as you say, but they are the lowest form of music.

  • @redeyewill1 That being said, how can you say these guys are original after admitting that they are "covering" or "ripping off" an earlier artist? Admittedly from only one song, my impression of them is that they are strongly unoriginal. So i do not support them, and instead do not listen, as you suggested.

  • i respect that but fact is G C D OR DAG SONGS are all over the history of music free bird this song Bruce Cockburn and so on when i play the blues or my own stuff i stumble on songs with the same chords its unfortunate that we all love music and are discussing this when you have people like lady gaga and beyonce getting Grammys thats the real crime acts like Ben Harper should be getting grammys ..i love Bruce ..check out the greatlake swimmers everything is moving so fast ..youtube it ...

  • @tastyburrito09 Hey Tastless Burrito. Maybe you should learn what a chord is before you criticise the DDW's chord progressions! The melody is so not at all alike. This is not the same! Get a freakin' ear, butt munch. This band rocks in an '"unmodern" way and they can make a freaking song come alive!! Man, people can be so ignorant..

  • @ddw1fan Well I know plenty about "what a chord is," and when I said that this progression is the same as lovers in a dangerous time, I was right. vi-I-IV is the progression I'd say it is, off the top of my head, in both cases. As for the melody, I still think it's similar, though note that I never said identical. Maybe my taste diverges from yours but my ear is unassailable. Good-day

  • the drummer is so cute

  • @MissTopanga Ya, he's my boyfriend.

  • HellYeah!!!

  • Yeah !!
