It was even on Yahoo's front page of China having a stealth bomber built that is 3 times the size of ours. It was set to be completed in 2014. When I was in the Marine Infantry, back in 1998, we had an unclassified brief on China being expected to catch up to us on technology by 2010.

Ah, but you must remember that the wars in Iraq, and Afginstan are much different. Those are guerilla tactical wars....much harder to fight than all out conventional war. If you remember, the US was able to destroy's Iraq's conventional forces in just a few days, without taking any causualties. This meant taking out their radar, tanks, planes, bases, and operations, in days....yeah, just ponder on that for a few seconds. That's historical my friend..the Chinese were quite frightened by this.

My point is that in the first Gulf War with Iraq in the 90's we showed the World what precision bombing using GPS looked liked. While others like Russia--most likely had similar concepts in theory--we actually tested in War for the whole world to see. Again, this was histiorical, setting the pace for computer satellite warfare. This out fear into China, and they soon started stealing tech.
