You think blues is easy? Taking what could be the most standard format and in the wrong hands can be painfully tedious and not repeating oneself requires a mindfulness of indescribable intensity. That's why the masters (Dixon, Wolf, Freddie-Albert-B.B. and others) are the masters. I'm not saying Joe is a master but he is not boring and he's doing an old Jeff Beck thing. Clever.
This is the 1st time iv'e seen Joe play, and i'll admit when i first saw him I thought, "oh dear, heres another Yngwie Malmsteen, stuck up his own ass just because he can play well." but i dont think i could have been more wrong, Joe's an incredible player, and just by watching you can really see he has the most knowledge of the instrument, more than iv'e ever seen from anyone. an incredibly talented man!!
You forgot Kanye West and Ridiculous - I meant Ludicris. It doen't get any better than JB. This guy is a superstar if you're counting talent - both guitar playing and blues singing. Can't wait until he has a concert near Cleveland, Ohio.
I am a (rock)guitar player and recentley started to listen to this man because of the hype thing. I am not very impressed although he has good timing, feeling, notechoice and songs that lots of people seem to appreciate I really like his singing.
But all in all it's great to see that guitar soloing is back for a while now and that people enjoy this, like the old days.
@arrowheadrock timing and notechoice?!?! you can't break down his guitar playing into such trivial aspects! Joe Bonamassa is one of a kind, he doesn't JUST play the guitar cuz he knows scales and all that bullshit. He channels his emotions, THIS my friend, is a one of a kind musician.
bonamassa would have been a household name, had he been around in the 70s 80s and 90s. poor guy grew up in a world where showing your cleavage and lip-syncing gets you recognized, and true talent suffocated (probably due to the fact that the vast majority of musicians simply didn't possess the raw skill and determination to achieve what men like Joe B have achieved).
For the life of me i cannot figure out why this man is not a household name. Oh, wait, I know. More musically gifted people like Brittany Spears and Justin Timberlake are.
I think you're not doing Justin Timberlake any justice. He's very musically gifted, actually. I don't know if you're a musician, but if you are: please try to figure out the incredible chords Timberlake wrote for 'Senorita' and you'll know what I mean. Maybe he doesn't always choos for difficult music. But he sure knows what he's doing.
But nobody can touch the skills on the guitar of this man. Went to his concert in Amsterdam a couple of weeks ago. Blew me away.
this IS Clapton from the Beano album

Great.
But the 1967-69 Clapton is greater.
why? not so many notes, simpler melodies, more from the heart, greater vibrato.

every slow blues are similar to eachother!
nothing to do with the great Eric... Joe has a different tecnique. anyway great bonamassa

The intro is almost identical to Clapton's "Have you ever loved a woman" in it's live version(s)... Great anyway, though..
