  • 1989, alone at dawn at Stonehenge, with this song blaring in my Walkman.

    Wow.

  • @TheJStar65 <----jealous hehe

  • dedicato a me e alla raffinatezza di cui godo (andate a cakareeeee) :))))

  • Łza się w oku kręci. Piękny teledysk i muzyka

  • Wspaniały teledysk i muza

  • Love the combination, the song really deserves a beautiful video like this.

  • This is powerfully beautiful. (Jest piękny i potężny. Dziękują za ten.)

  • amazing places!!!

    good the editing, as well

  • great,great,great!!!!

  • Returned to Isle of Lewis for no apparent reason but to partake in a ritual drinking and walk around a while and complain how cold it was - and once again this song sprung to mind. Wild!

  • Ech, zwróciłęś uwagę na kawałek o którym mało kto słyszał... Dobór obrazów - genialnie oczywisty. Dzięki

  • GREAT!!!

  • This and "Heart Of The Country" are the Apex of Synth Rock! Lament is one of a few albums that I bought without knowing what was on it, and was blown away on first listening. DWTIME, followed by Lament followed by this followed by HOTC must be the greatest 20 minutes of synth rock layed in a groove, or should I say burnt onto a CD!

  • Loved it ! Sad, yet I keep watching it over again.

  • Loved it ! Sad, yet I keep watching it over again.

  • Wspaniały utwór

  • One of the best of Ultravox's dozens of amazing tunes. Lament is one of the great 80s albums IMO.

  • Does anyone know what the gaellic lyrics mean in English???

  • Tis a great track, a classic.

  • Great.

  • Great band!great song

  • Lament is an excellent album. In many ways way before it's time both in sound and production. If you don't have it, I strongly advice you to buy it. Even if you aren't a U-vox fan.

It's much more even than the earlier productions that, to be honest, varied between pure classics and .. ehr.. not so good tunes. On Lament they found a sound (rhyme!) and kept if all through the album. I can still listen to it from track 1 to the end and that is rare for me. U2:s "Joshua Tree" is another such album.

  • @azynkron I totally agree with that Lament was their finest album. Also I think that Song from the big chair is another one of those rare albums

  • someone has used the same film clips of Wuthering Heights for this and Midges 'if i was' both really fitting x cool film too xx

  • awesome!

  • orginaltrack by david Bowie...

  • @MrGahan98 Oops!!!...You are Thinking Of "Man Who Sold The World" I Think!!!....This Was an Original Ultravox Song From "Lament "

  • @Bonoerra sorry...

  • Isn't that Juliette Binoche??? Yes it is!

  • i was about 12 and just started to collect memories of this great time.

  • I think that Lament was Ultravox at their peak

  • u-vox,toujours aussi sublime!!..

  • The best part of the song starts @ 1:13

  • Mighty and Powerfull! I'm so happy that I was already 18een when they were on the top, I appreciated their songs soooo much!

  • I was living in England when they were big and I was 18 then, I recall their excellent synth sounds and arrangements, they are one of the best bands ever to come out of the U.K.!!

  • La bonne zic des années 80..

  • gotta agree, best track on the lament album, one small day comes a very close second!

  • Hm, what about Lament itself? Brilliant album, but no song on it can hold a candle to the title track:) Sets the mood for the whole album. Bitter-sweet. With a touch of decadent decay. Mourning the past gone by. Ah... The 80s... GOD, I WISH I COULD GO BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This song reminds me of my newave girlfriend in high school,I like the deepness of everyone else's comments but thats all for me good song.

  • amazing

  • this gaelic part...what does it mean?

  • An amazing work of art! It actually took me while to discover that this was not an original Ultravox video. The scenes fit the song perfectly! And you've gotta love this song!!!

  • można słuchać miliony razy...

electronautpl - pięknie to połączyłeś z filmem...

  • Piękny utwór, piękny film... Cóż dodać?

  • Better than a fair few of their singles; wish they'd explored this type of sound further...a bit reminiscent of the Helden project.

Lovely video but I'll always think of a latter day druid and celts when I hear it!

  • I always imagined this song to be about an English officer bewitched by an Irish beauty in the 18th century..........too many historical romance novels in high school I suppose

  • fantastic song and great vid interpretation, one of my favs on "Lament", looking forward to listening to this special title at a live gig one day :-)

  • I am sure there is a 12" remix of this and it is brilliant although I last heard it mid 90's in Edinburgh, cannot remember who had it?

  • wszystko co grają i śpiewają jest bardzo dobre. zaszczepił mnie tą muzyką kolega 20kilka lat temu i tak trwa to do dziś.

  • niesamowita piosenka......:)))))

  • The Best song on "Lament"

  • UV should have made a video of this with Kate Bush. It would have been classic!!

  • Correction Mae McKenna

  • I remember UV using this as the opening track on the SET MOVEMENTS tour.. MU singing gaelic isn;t as good as Gail McKenna!!

  • Beautifully done == a lovely homage to a great song and a timeless tale.

  • this video tells a lot ; but I haven't died yet..just I'm tired sorrow guilty and hopeless....the last T. M.

  • Ein wunderschönes Lied und Video

  • Better get my ticket and fast...

  • Thats my kinda woman, she's beautiful...long scraggy wet dark hair...georgeous!

  • Anybody hear....they are reforming (inc Warren Cann) for the return to eden reunion tour in april 09 !!!!!!!

  • Its a shame they cant have both John Foxx and Midge ure do the reunion tour. I'm sure there is room for both.

  • Reading passages of ancient rhyme cut so deep, so old

Telling tales of travellers and mystery

Hearing spirits far removed calling out aloud

When the time comes they'll talk to me

    Hand fighting hand

As you turn to a man of two worlds

Absolutley fantastic, the best track on the "Lament" album (and it's up against 7 very strong contenders!)

  • This is my favorite Ultravox song - not to mention, the best visual interpretation, too.

  • ....do not leave me in this darkness where I cannot find you....

  • Excellent combination song-vid, really touching. Thx!

  • Fantastico

  • i love this song, have made many vids using it and have one up now on your tube, Midge's voice is brill

  • youtube even lol

  • Humor my tired braincells and tell me what film these clips are taken off of. And hell, could a $2,000 an hr music video director have made a better haunting vid to this formost classic haunting U-Vox song, regardless of the modern arts of pasting and sticking? Good on this up and coming artist.

  • The video is from the movie "Wuthering Heights" based on the Bronte sisters' novel, obviously starring Juliette Binoche and Ralph Fiennes. It's not been much of a success of any sort, though, when it was first released, and in my opinion, rightfully so. But it's a good backdrop to this Ultravox song, I agree.

  • always wondered why this wasnt released as a single.. excellent work electro...

  • By far the best song from " Lament ".

Excellent choice for a video to accompany. Wonder if the band would have filmed something similar had " Man of Two Worlds " been a single.

  • whoa! i had lament on vynyl when it first came out.haven`t heard this track for donkeys years; hearing it borught back a few memories & its still a brilliant track!!

  • Awesome =)

  • Great music!

  • WOW !!

Please from who is the girl voice on the song?

  • Mae McKenna

  • Thanks!

  • Chris Cross' bass playing really shines on this song. I bought Lament back in the summer of '84 and listened to it almost constantly that summer.

  • I read the book in high school about 30 years ago. This movie is the closest to the book and by far the best version of Wuthering Heights I have ever seen. Great song by Ultravox too, brings back memories. Thanks for posting.

  • Wow, nice edit to one of 'Vox's best, sends shivers down your spine for sure...

  • Excellent footage from Heathcliff!

  • What's the video footage from?

  • Duh, never mind, I just read the tags. Time for me to wake up and smell the pop culture.

  • It is a 1992 version of Wuthering Heights, the lass is Juliette Binoche and the gent a certain Mr Feinnes, Ralph or Joseph your guess is as good as mine.

  • Nice bit of the ould Gaeilge to boot.

  • Nice work fella........

  • great lyrics, first heard this in 84.very good just tos it and listen to and soak it up.

  • very najz mr.Electronaut!

  • Taking shelter by the standing stones

    Miles from all that moves

    Breathing solitude, seeking confidence

    A gift to me

    Feeling spirits never far removed

Passing over me and I greet them with open arms

    Hand fighting hand

As you turn to a man of two worlds

Taobh ri taobh tha sinn mar aon de dha shaobhail

Do lambh nam lambh gabhal aithne air leim a ghablh

  • Dear mr. Electronaut - this is great stuff. Song like this can't me made anymore. Midge is probably the best songwriter - EVER!

  • Reading passages of ancient rhyme Cut so deep so old Telling tales of travellers and mystery Hearing spirits never far removed Call out aloud When the time comes they'll talk to me Hand fighting hand As you turn to a man of two worlds Taobh ri taobh tha sinn mar aon de dha shaobhail Do lambh nam lambh gabhal aithne air leim a ghablh Hand fighting hand As you turn to a man of two worlds
  • Feel a presence moving into me

    Painting pictures with its words

Seeing places that I've never seen

Like a door thrown open on a life I've lived before

Taobh ri taobh tha sinn mar aon de dha shaobhail

Do lambh nam lambh gabhal aithne air leim a ghablh

Mar e shealbhaichis mi an tiodhlac seo ahonisa

S mo lambh n'ad lambh smuainich air na tireauu ceinne

S mi deaunabh gardochas da raire

  • @electronautpl Taobh What do these words say? ri taobh tha sinn mar aon de dha shaobhail
