1.6 and source two completely different in some areas...

same context but source is just modded and textured to be more realistic with ragdoll physics and what not. Sure it isnt perfect but source is generally more popular because it has better graphics than 1.6 ...

Both games are very fun to play thats why a lot of people still play 1.6, or they just didnt get used to source. Either way both games are very fun..

3ghz processor with 2gb ram on XP, I don't see it as a problem. The Source engine is better for gaming in general, but for CS, it just downright sucks - recoil is random, lag compensation does absolutely nothing while the hitboxes are somewhere you can't even see or hear anyway.

HDR, dynamic lighting, better texture filtering, higher poly count, all that stuff is cool, but then all this random barrel stuff and junk on the ground are just in the way.

Gameplay has nothing to do with graphics and realism. And you can wallbang in Source aswell, like in 1.6 it just detects a wall as a wall, if it's a stone wall then there's just a stone texture, but it's the same in terms of wallbanging.

And why would you need >70 FPS? The only way that you can tell the difference between 60 FPS and 70 FPS is with something called FPS displayer. Otherwise, the naked eyes can't tell.

Try fps_max 60 and it automatically caps it to 60. It's never too stable, it throws around with 10-15 fps and that's why it's good to have 70.

To be honest, I think it's your imagination. The speed is based on the data sent and received, not based on FPS. If it was, many people would rush to buy >$2000 computers.

actually people arent bothered by fps much and 60fps-100fps difference in speed is only minute. but it is there. Most can't afford $2000 computers. Mine only cost $1400 from nearly 3 years ago and it can only run css at 60-100fps but you can feel the difference when you run into 100fps areas. certainly compared to 30fps which people say it's smooth when it's not. trust me.
