Very pleased to hear New York Stories get mentioned. It's 3-shorts in one package. The first, by Scorsese is titled "Life Lessons," With Arquette & Nolte. The other two films were by FC Coppola and W Allen. Well worth watching - at least the first sequence.

Favreau is high if he thinks there isn't a double standard with regards to leading roles by gender in Hollywood. Men are are quite often given leading roles well into their 40's. Look at Clooney, and Owen, Willis and Penn for example. And then their costarring women are like 18 lol.

@NirvanaFan4Life I see your point, but for every 1 actress over 40 you can name who's doing well there's 1 who fell off. Sigourney Weaver, Michelle Pfiffer, Melanie Griffith, Annette Benning, & Sharon Stone were surefire box office hits in their 20s & 30s. Now that they're north of 40, they mainly get supporting roles if anything. Meanwhile, Bruce Willis, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, & even Clint Eastwood still get top billing on every film they're in.

What Favreau isn't factoring in is that there aren't as many roles for women who don't fit the conventional mold of what is considered attractive and marketable in America. Look at pretty much any sitcom on tv. Most of them feature a hot, thin wife and her chubby husband.

arquette is great. i hate that she ties anger and bitterness into the same thing though and from her response she's got some anger there but uses it positively, so forget bitterness. as one of my favourite Public Image Ltd song's (Rise) says "anger is an energy".

It sucks that Rosanna Arquette isn't getting cast in many roles anymore. It's true what she says about women over 40 not being cast in movies, though it's been said a million times. And this is considering she still looks beautiful. I love Jon Favreau, but he was wrong in saying that he has problems getting roles too. He's overweight and balding, and he still gets cast in quite a few movies.

I think Maher isn't eating cuz he has an obligation as creator of this show and as "Top Dog; Most Recognized" to ensure that the conversations go the right way. right? What Favreau isn't taking into account is that there a lot less roles for women who are older than there are for men. Besides that, there are lots of roles for men who aren't that attractive, but women often have to look a certain way to cast. Look at all the sitcoms with the chubby husbands and the hot wives.
