  • Final approach 18L.......does that really exist? Where do they have 1 to 17? where are the lightings?? Even Bagram´s in Afghanistan looks tidier.

  • Ok Heads up lets speed up this...... RUNWAY 18L is in Good condition, a New Asphalt Surface has been laid down on the runway. probably two years ago.....

    enough of the comments..........

  • @mubibibi Thank you,i was about saying that

  • after landing in memphis tennesse usa,(farming city) i have generated more love for lagos, not everywhere in america is like florida or california.

  • that runway looks like its a closed runway as there is an x at the end meaning runway no longer in use

  • No, I remember landing at Murtala Muhammed Airport - Lagos, many years ago in the 70s, the runway was bad then. It sounds like it hasn't improved!

WT803 (or was it WT903, it changed) was the flight number I think, on Nigeria Airways. The landing was so bad my sister was sick in the immigration area!

Kano was the same, equally bad.

Don't get me going on the corruption at the airport, I'll post again on that one in due course...

  • i have a question for anyone who can answer...what ever happend to Nigeria Airways? i remember it used to be an airline. i think maybe it closed down and they opened a viring nigeria through the famous virign airlines.

too bad nigeria doesnt own virgin nigeria but richard bransen (or whatever his name is) does. i would really like to know why they canceled the airline?

    does anyone know? thanks!

  • Nigeria Airways ceased operating in 2003. It had accumulated significant debts, and various allegations have been made that former Nigerian rulers looted and mismanaged the airline which accelerated its failure. (See External links). The Nigerian government later came to an agreement with Virgin Atlantic Airways to found Virgin Nigeria Airways, intended as a replacement, although the ground facilities of the old Nigeria Airways were eventually taken over by another company, Arik Air.

  • really? how sad!

i knew it had something to do with stupid government leaders, or their corrupt nation. why is nigeria so corrupt, when they're the richest country in Africa. this is sad!!

    thanks for the reply! :)

  • no worries; you're welcom'.

  • Yeah; but i aint talk 'bout no fence.

  • This is terrible; why are there no visible lights' posts on the runway? Will this runway be truly safe to land at night? Also I am ashamed by the look of the environment. Is this the same lagos (city of excellence)? Why do Nigerians exhort and exalt critical mediocrity?

  • I agree. Beside, the airport seems to be unprotected, no fence insight, poor security and terrible runway, where are the lights? very poor airport, I wouldn't recommend it.

  • you wouln't wish to be in the restrooms dear brother.... you wouln't.

  • There are Runway lights at night, remember seeing them from the air... thye r bright..

  • Well maybe; but from what I can see in this video, there are none. I cant see any 'stubs' either on the runway middle or at either sides.

  • There are!! I´ve landet in Lagos in the night!

  • I remeber my first flight there, I came in too fast then I decided to try once again. lol

  • .. how many times I made this approach between 1980 and 1990 with Dornier 28, 128 and 228 aircrafts ..!!??

  • You how had the audacity to call people monkey's go to hell and burn there !!!

  • And who exactly are you calling monkeys? When was the last time any woman from your family won miss world? Because a monkey Nigerian has.

  • @Macimate Nigerian "monkeys" have regularly been called the happiest PEOPLE,not monkeys,on earth you bigoted racist. I am a Nigerian who has lived abroad for a few years and I can honestly say that yes, Nigeria has bad infrastructure but I have met people in your "countries that maintain runways" that don't even deserve to be called animals i.e the ones known as white trash. And just a reminder, your idiotic and uneducated post has insulted 150 million people who ask for an apology.

  • They need to fix them pot holes. That's a shame.

  • theres no pot holes on the runway. when a plane lands it shakes a bit.

  • Yep it shakes dues to reverse thrust.

  • Do you think an airline landing at a high speed would land safely with pot-holes on the runway?

  • Nay except the already poorly maintained Bigerian airplanes (which are already safeless anyway) and hence no point landing on a smooth runway.

  • ur right the airlines these days in naija....are so bad nd almost out of service....u guys know the bell view that crashed in abj lately...believe it or not i was in that same aircraft the 2 days before it crashed ..the plane was so noisy espessially wen it came 2 land in lagos.....god saved me ...

  • Then show Him some respect and write His name with a capital G, thats the least u can do.

  • i read that the airport doesn't even have a proper night lighting...But what happened to the crj900??

  • I left there in March, don't know about the 900's.Last I heard they were still flying. Night landings any where in Nigeria are very pathetic. Bad runways and poor lighting
