I'm calling bologna on the entire idea that any material at any temperature could repair aluminum~type pot metals. Watching their HTS-2000 video: I'm still trying to find where my jaw dropped. If this is for real, why isn't this material readily available to the common consumer, who I may add, has all of the common symptoms of: broken aluminum parts. For over twenty years I've asked how to repair aluminum, and aluminum ~ based alloys; the answer is always = "Sorry, you have to replace" =^.^ =
I broke a float arm off in the carburetor off my quad, its pot aluminum, do you think the HTS-2000 would be a good choice to fix it with. Plus I have a frozen air/fuel mixture screw (same carb) that I'm going to mill out re-tap and heli-coil a new thread in there, any one know of any approaches?
Yes to both - the clutch handle was very textured where the end broke off originally and I did tin the ends.
The bulk of the problem was that I did not get the pot metal hot enough with the propane torch. A later attempt was a fair bit stronger - it took three solid whacks with the hammer before it broke (didn't have the cam on).
The main thing this vid should point out is that using HTS 2000 on pot metal is more difficult than aluminum and it yields worse results. Should be expected
Well, easy to say it's crap, but that repair could have been done with bostick or sellotape for all we know! There was no evidence of what it was fixed with or how was there?
