cockatiels last yearssss... we got mine when he was already over 6 (he only had two toenails left.. he was old lol)) and he lasted 7 years after that til he died. So yeah.. maybe you shouldn't have a bird if you can only keep it alive for a year and a half lolly

At wat age does it tok. Used to have a cockatiel and it never even whistled and it died at 18 months so want to get something that lasts longer. A wee buddy :)

I'm pretty sure it's not the cockatiels fault that it died at 18 months, must've been something you did (no offense). When I was younger we had a cockatiel and it was alive for atleast 5 years. And you have to teach it talk, it doesnt just talk automatically...

African Greys typically live 50 years or so, and they talk a lot. But they are MUCH more expensive than a cockatiel.

an idea for a toy I got from soccer.

I bought a small hexagon-style play toy for cats/dogs, and roll it towards my grey (be gentle), he throws it back to me while yelling "whooo!! oops! whoo!" :) i'll enroll him in the Olympic Grey team lol if it ever comes around.

We own a "GREY" too and he is now 32 years old. They " MIMIC " (Copy) what they hear, so, be careful what you say in front of a " GREY "!!! They only learn what they hear, it is that simple. SO if u want your parrot to swear, then swear at it. LOL hahahaha

wanting a bird that talks is the WRONG reason to get a bird. These birds live up to 80 yrs need as much attentio and nutrition as a human child not to mention some birds regardless of their popularity for being known to talk may never talk. I suggest you research different species and make your own decision and an informed one at that!
