  • I had the great fortune to see Dan twice while in college (1977-Nether Lands; 1980-Twin Sons). This song opened both shows, and to this day, whenever I hear someone mention his name, 'Part Of The Plan' fills my brain. When you have someone's music around you for seemingly ever, it's easy to take it for granted; I hope I did not take his music for granted; if I did, I truly apologize, Dan. Your musical passion is sorely missed ... as are you. Thanks for all you did for your fans ... and for me.

  • live in Brazil. Oh God, Jean needs to release this performance DVD. I love Dan Fogelberg. Love ... Love ... Love ...

  • his voice is almost gone, but not the heart.....love this old song

  • I had never even seen Dan Fogelberg perform, I loved the man on the power of his music and lyrics. It was by chance I decided to see if he was on YouTube and then I also found out he had died!! God, I am so sad today.

  • Dan was truly a musical genius, his music and legacy will live forever. May God bless you Dan Fogelberg, thanks for sharing your gift with us all.

  • This song brings me back to college in 1974 when I wore the grooves off this record. Dealing with prostate cancer now, I am especially moved watching this....

  • Thinking and missing Dan on this day. Looked at my framed copy of his birthday announcement this a.m. and could only smile and give thanks for the legacy of music he left us.

  • I was having a Fogel Cruise on the tube and thought I would stop by! It's been one year, since I was here!

I was reading aviationpilot comment on" no eden or heavenly gates". Dan was saying live your life, dream your dream, live your dreams, don't worry if there is heaven or not. To many of us live our lives for that one moment, which may not happen.

Love you Danny ! We miss you so much!

  • There will never be anyone who can match the talent of the late Dan Fogelburg - NEVER. I feel free and happy whenever I listen to his music. I know he saved some music for us and I can't wait for August 09. Thanks to Jean for all she has done for his fans - she must be one amazing person herself!

  • I absolutely LOVE this song, brilliant performance of it too. I don't like the lines "There is no eden or heavenly gates that you're going to make it to one day". But overall wonderful song, we'll miss you Dan!

  • very simple and humble song...brings back alot of good memories back in the day.

  • WOW...I jut love him..wish I would have seen him live :( he was and incredibly talented man.

  • thanks for posting this. I never got to see him live, but this makes me feel as if I am right there.

This song is his classic and he was such a talented singer/songwriter/musician. I am glad he shared his talents with us and he is so missed.

Rest Dan from a BIG fan of yours

p.s. thanks all for the added info on the comments.I will go over to his site and check out the latest info on him from Jean.

  • RIP Dan - your songs are part of the thread of my life

  • Least we forget!

  • I FUCKING LOVE THIS SONG!

  • AWESOME! TOTALLY AWESOME!

  • Love this man till the end of my life. The other musicians have recognition on their own. Jim Photoglo and Robert McEntee still perform today. Jim Photoglo is on You Tube and My Space. Robert McEntee worked on River of Souls and has a site. Mike Botts,a member from Bread, passed away from colon cancer in 2005.Mike Hanna on keyboards worked with Dan in the studio going back to Windows and Walls and Exiles.I believe he is on stage with Dan on the video Rhythm of the Rain, the Carson show.

  • Hey VM - Thanks for sharing another great video and thanks for the nice comments on mine! The last time I saw Dan play, it was an acoustic set at Red Rocks, front and center. It was an incredible night that I will always cherish. He made us all feel like we had been invited into his home. Thankfully, his music will live forever! Take care.

  • Your welcome formb0. I never made it to a Red Rocks show, but I can just imagine. Wonder if anyone has video from one of his Red Rocks shows. That would be great to see.

  • GREAT NEWS!!! Dan's wife, Jean, is releasing a wonderful gift for all of us - a new song Dan wrote for her in 2005 will be available for download this month, plus a new CD is coming out later this year. Go to Dan's site to read Jean's new message - click on the News page. Jean has been amazing and wonderful! Thanks Jean! And God bless you.

  • Wow, thanks so much VM, you can hear the changes in Dan's voice through the years. Great to see samples of any video of him. The bass player and guitarist look to be the same guys as on the "Greetings from the West" DVD, if I'm not mistaken. Excellent.

  • Hey Scotty - Yes, that's Jim Photoglo on bass, and Robert McEntee on guitar. Mike Botts is the drummer. Sadly, Mike passed away in Dec of 2005, also from cancer. All three were with Dan on the Greetings tour. On keyboards here is Michael Hanna.

  • Also, we have Mike Botts to thank for the unique inside look at the 2003 Full Circle tour. He wrote a lengthy journal during the tour - you can read it at Mike's website. Click on the Library page.

Many thanks to Mike for that! May he rest in peace.

  • @vmstrider is not in the low fotoglo

  • Thank you again, VM. Yes, Greetings was a special concert. I live in St. Louis and was there. (How my unbridled whoop at Old Ten's intro was not edited out on the CD I'll never know.) I have so many great memories of his concerts. The solo acoustic tour from the 3rd row, it was like a private guitar lesson in a great big living room. A "homecoming" show in Champaign, IL. First row on a summer shed run. To watch him play was captivating.

  • The rest of the Soundstage songs are also on the Greetings dvd, and most have been posted by others. Originally I was only planning to post songs that weren't already represented on youtube. But I could post more, if anyone wants to see them. Here's the rest of the setlist - Heart Hotels, Hard To Say, Run for the Roses, Leader of the Band, Missing You, and The Power of Gold. I don't think Hard To Say has been posted before, so I might put that one up anyway.

  • Also, there are some really great songs on Greetings that are not out there - songs that Dan didn't play as often, and some people may never have seen. I was thinking of posting some of those. Peace to you all.

  • Hey all, I recently found out the soundstage show is going to be rebroadcast in Feb. Still don't think they'll offer a DVD though. But at least we'll have another chance to see the broadcast. So, keep a look out for it on your local station.

  • Hey strider, thanks for the great video. And Hi to all the Danfans. Did you guys know that Nazzman was apparently kicked off Youtube for posting some Dan vids from 1982? I miss Nazz and don't know what the deal was. Jfmm-any ideas on that? Hugs to all.

  • becster - I was in the midst of watching those videos when his channel went down. It's a shame, he had some good stuff there. It may be because he had so many videos. He had a lot of Neil stuff, and others too, as I recall. But I guess there's always a chance of getting kicked off. That's why it's good to save videos you like before they disappear. The only one I got was Phoenix, but transfering it back to a format to upload isn't working out too well, it's losing too much quality.

  • Thank you so much for sharing this with us - this video is such a gift for all of us who miss Dan so badly ... Blessings to you and love to Dan, his family and friends. Danielle-Sofie

  • Thanks flugbaerin. I'm missing him badly too. Still having a hard time accepting that he's really gone. Sharing his music makes me feel better, and I'm glad to know I'm not along in feeling so deeply affected by his passing. Peace and blessings to you also.

  • It's a joy to see these videos, since I never got to the the Full Circle tour. Much appreciated, vmstrider!

  • You're welcome bonsaipal. I'm sorry you missed his last tour. The Soundstage show was a short version of his tour shows, and PBS even cut out a few tunes for the broadcast -- The Reach, Crow, Raven, and Blow Wind Blow. Of course, it's still well worth watching, especially since we don't have much of Dan on video. But if they would release a DVD of it, I believe all the songs would be included. That would be great.

  • Just finished watching the "Greetings From the West" concert, so I've got a full measure of Dan's music and presence to keep me singing on this cold winter day. I live in Maine and somehow always felt a kinship with him . He was so genuine and down to earth, what a loss for all of us. It's sad realizing he's not here with us any longer, but I believe he's still aware of all the love and appreciation for him that still exists and always will.

  • bonsaipal - I truly hope he is aware of all love and appreciation we all feel for him.

  • Thanks again Strider!!!! Awesome stuff. Keep em coming, brother!!

  • No problem jeff. Sharing the videos and watching ones others have posted, has been part of the grieving process for me. Not sure if it's helping to heal, or if it's just a distraction to keep from dealing with the loss -- it's hard to say. But either way, it's comforting to know other people feel such a strong connection to his music as I do. Peace to you.

  • Hey Strider-I'd responded to you on this last nite-but guess it didn't take. I so agree with you on the grieving process part. All the postings have helped. And thanks for the great vids-just be careful-don't want you to "disappear" also. And thanks for the Soundstage into-I'll be sure to look for it. You're the best kiddo. BB in FL
