@joebanke Obviously you've never shot at 100 yards. Shooting, standing at 100 yards is very difficult with a rifle. With a shotgun with slugs, the accuracy is decreased. 75 yards is the maximum effective range of a shotgun, so this is not an easy shot to pull off.
With those rounds out of 930 spx, it hits about 1.5 inches low at 100 yards. I get about a 5-6 inch grouping. With my law enforvement rounds, I get a 3 inch grouping at 100 yards.
I have a 11 87 with a riffled barrle and a weaver scope on it with the scope riser so I can see the Iron sights to.....With the Iron sights at 100 yrds I can shoot a 3in group with the scope Im even better than that. I took three does in the first 2 days of Ny deer season with it last year at 120, 70, 70 yrds. Ive shot many guns set up with the ghoserings....Im pretty impressed you can even hit the target at 100yrds. Nice shooting.......
i have a spr 100 12 ga single shot, it has a mod choke, 28 inch barrel, and its a hell of a slug gun. i can hit a milk jug at 125 yards with bead sights.
@a2redneck I would get a Mossberg 395ka kbabble whatever and try it. I have had good results (short range so far) with my Mossberg 395ka. I had crappy results with a Stevens 58d 20 gauge, however I am thinking the barrel is bent on the stevens. Cheers
@a2redneck My Remington 870 with 14" Dlask heavy barrel and winchester slugs is dead on. I can keep them on a sheet of typing paper at that range from a bench and just a big post front sight.
I just bot an Escort MP Tactical Shotgun. Is there a trick to sighting ghost rings in, because I shoot low no matter how I adjust the sights. Any tips would be helpful thanks!
I'm gonna be buying a 590 in the coming months and I'm definitely going with the ghost ring sights. I'm a little torn between the solid stock and the stock with pistol grip. Which would you suggest?
@m1ghtysauc3 The pistol grip sure looks aggressive. But, not the optimal set up for the 590. With the ambi-safety located top center, the standard stock is more ergonomically friendly for the shooter. Watch the review "Combat Shotgun Shootout " parts 3 & 4 from nutnfancy. He covers these issues real well. As always, this is just my personal experience and opinion. Hope this helps.
i like the fact that you are willing to try this, i have shot slugs at this distance before they are quite accurate. but i would like to point out that they are 2 and 3/4 inch slugs no one makes 2 and 1/2 inch anymore
Vetry good vid. How many fps were those slugs going? You can hear them hitting the steel almost immediately when the gun fires. And that from a 100 yds. Enjoyed that very much.P.S. Trespassers don't have any business on anyones property for ANY reason. After all, they ARE walking onto a firing range. Thumbs up. 5/5

Love your videos man, i shoot everyday (more of a handgun guy) but i go out shooting clays all the time. Getting to see some slugs shot out of your shotgun is pretty awesome.
Good shooting also btw, its gotta be difficult with a helmet and camera on :)
Wow, with a smooth barrel shotgun, using just iron sights (ghost rings) 100 yards using slugs!!! Amazing work buddy. Note to ppl here, rifled shotguns is recommended to use Sabot Slugs (its different to regular slugs) . You can use these slugs he shot, buy boy, its damn right dirty on your barrel and not much accuracy improvement. good shooting man.
I think your aimpoint was a little too high to register a mid-torso hit... Thos slugs were hot! You may be able to aim head high and register a torso hit! I say, try that one again! Great video bud... :)
@MrMuscleMacho Who cares if he's racist, it's his right to use his brain anyway he wants. You're worse than him because evidently you go around shouting "Racist, racist" when you don't even know this guy to say one way or another if he is. And "Negros"? You might as well say nigger, it's the same thing, which leads me to believe you might be racist yourself. I hate people like you who have to but in someone else's opinion and act like a jackass. Look up the true definition of or "racism".
That's a beast of a shotgun. I've got the 590A1 Mil-Spec version with the thick walled barrel and metal trigger guard. I love to shoot it, even with all the heavy recoil. The action is very nice and rarely jams with good, factory loads. The dual extractors in the A1 also helps reliability. Accuracy ain't too bad with slugs either, considering the barrel is only 20" long with a smooth bore.
In Canada I am considered a psycho for liking guns. People think you are a lunatic if you own guns here. It's crazy. I wish I was born in the USA. I love guns. :(
I have not read all the comments, Have you retried this string of fire aiming at center mass if so how was the effect. Considering all the firearms channels on YouTube, not everyone gets out and shoots, especially as much as I do. I am fortunate in that regard. @LetoZeth There own dang fault for tresspassing in my eyes

Try to get the Blackhawk stock with knoxx recoil reduction. It's A-M-A-Z-I-N-G and it really helps on those follow up shots. It make 3" Magnums feel like birdshot.
Great video. Love the helmet cam! Shows that hitting something at 100 yards with open sites isn't that easy. I bet with some practice you could go 8 for 8.
Yes, I posted a 200 yard Mossberg video before this one, early to mid 2009. Please excuse all my speaking mannerisms, etc. on that video. It was early in my YouTube career. LOL
I love ur videos cuz I am also a big fan of slugging away at targets 100 yards away. I usually use Remington sluggers, cheapest slugs I found, amazing accuracy. Check it out on my channel wen u get a chance
Just a little curious, why are you holding your shotgun like that? That seems awkward. What does the 590 have over a 500 besides the option for 9 rounds and some metal parts anyways? I own a 500 myself and can't really spot the differences when I do see a 590.
Not bad at all. I know the slugs will drop a bit as they travel. Maybe 10 inches above center mass would have produced the results you were looking for? Have you tried the same distance since this video aiming a bit lower? I really like the Ghost ring sights...might have to look into them for my 500.
Boy you nailed that Puppy! If that was a bad guy he'd not be happy with YOU! I carry slugs with mine but Im going to have to try this too! 12-18 "high you say? Thanks
You know something about my setup that I don't ???? Please enlighten me. That road is on PRIVATE PROPERTY, dead end, into a shitload of more PRIVATE LAND, uninhabited forests; road inactive for nearly 100 years. I love it when people think they know F'n everything. I'll aim it straight down the road the next time as well.

Private property or not, people can easily trespass and accidentally get shot since you dont have much that stops the slugs behind your target.
Setup a ditch or something behind the targets, if you have so much land, then make yourself a simple shooting range. :) I know i would!
Just my opinion on the matter, i wont tell you what you can and cant do.

It's not you, it's the slugs your using.
Foster slugs are really no better than musket balls from a Brown Bess.
Coated Bernnake type (or similar hard slug) are dramatically better.
I average 3.5" groups at 100yards with my Mossy 930.
Thats 8 slugs in 3.5"!
And I'm by no means the best shot around.
I shoot a lot so I'm pretty good, but the slugs deserve most of the credit.
Newer slug tech is truly amazing.

how far can you shoot with the 590 can you touch out at 200 yards
miltnxc123 1 year ago
@miltnxc123

I love the sound of the reload on pump-action shotguns. It's so iconic, and I guess why many people also like these guns ;D
zogbots 1 year ago
Just a little curious, why are you holding your shotgun like that? That seems awkward. What does the 590 have over a 500 besides the option for 9 rounds and some metal parts anyways? I own a 500 myself and can't really spot the differences when I do see a 590.

@MrK4G3
It looks awkward on the scope cam due to the perspective.

I'm with him why are you holding that barrel? the forend is there for a reason.
I just went out shooting last saturday. we had an old lawnmower. Set it up about 50yds out and I busted a magnum slug into the engine block ahaha.

Wow 100 yrds looks hard to do - Im going to be doing my own 1 oz slugs from #8 shot with a Lee mold.
BUT I will be shooting freehand from an 870 with a 12" smooth.
I dont think i will even get three hits like u did.

Nice vid. I LOVE my Mossy 590A1.
marcosbullock 1 year ago
Not bad at all. I know the slugs will drop a bit as they travel. Maybe 10 inches above center mass would have produced the results you were looking for? Have you tried the same distance since this video aiming a bit lower? I really like the Ghost ring sights...might have to look into them for my 500.
DangerousDude2010 1 year ago
Boy you nailed that Puppy! If that was a bad guy he'd not be happy with YOU! I carry slugs with mine but Im going to have to try this too! 12-18 "high you say? Thanks

Wow, good gunsafety. Aim it strait down the road. Jackass!
PRzuki 1 year ago
@PRzuki

@tnoutdoors9 Not hard to realize it's obvious not a public road
