The DKC "roll off ledge jumping" I think is a barrel roll. As in, you know, DO A BARREL ROLL! :P

DK's eggs also go super fast. Always liked that. Like you said, I've managed OK flutters with the heavy characters, it isn't too terrible a disadvantage.

on a random note, i recently watched a mario hack video (or series rather) that was heavily influenced by this game. it was a really good hack too.

You were right, Miles! I noticed the exact same thing while playing this game. :) The Colonel even ID's DK in SSBB saying that he fought DK's Grandpa. And, on the Donkey Kong Country Returns website, it is revealed that Cranky is indeed DK' grandpa. So, apparently in the Mario universe Cranky Kong does not get old, until after the new "Donkey Kong is crowned! :D
