  • Maybe they are talking about the act of surfing once you are up on your board, not paddling to catch it.

Working my core has helped my balance (fewer wipeouts) and ripping, I swim everyday there are no waves for the upper (arms, back, ect.), then work core, after sprint swimming 1,200 plus yards (pull ups, ball, light weights, crunches, 100's of push ups ect.) helps a great deal, in my experience. So all these muscle groups are imperative.

  • i recomend you to go surfing and check which muscles get tired.. be sure its not legs hehe, surfing is 90% paddling!

  • except for longboarders, it requires no effort!

  • longboard is way easier aee

  • what a crock. I'd say it's the other way around... shoulders, back and arms first then then wee little leggies.... or perhaps that's just because I spend most of my time paddlin!

  • i think this is muscle used when standing not paddling?

Ya shoulders, back and arms if it was paddling

  • I know this was an old comment but....LOL

  • well thats all well and good, but seriously, who got the idea for the robot?

  • ROFLMAO!!!

  • No wonder true surfers are always pretty fit. Try swimming back to the beack after loosing your board 200 yards off shore.

  • Thats why i have a leash bro =)

  • Yeah but have you ever had a leash snap off?

  • not yet man, not yet.

  • no wonder why I am so sexy! hehe
