The truth is LA reid i believe didn't have any intentions of bringing him through to the final round. It was rediculous to make him sing a song that was out of his confort zone, while his other main choices got songs that were perfect for their voice. It was a setup by Ried and it was obviouse. He had no intentions on carrying him through.
