  • I want a body massage !!!! :)

  • he was obsessed with aids

  • That's like our high school, that's on a health kick, being sponsored by McDonald's.

  • there is no face to a million people...its less personal and tragic

  • @koderbug92 Please explain my arrogant friend please please explain, your logic two words,Master Chief technically one word but u get my drift ,oh and all the dlc first the list goes on and on but I'll save ammo if u got anything other wise I'll save my breath, or my fingers I should say

  • It Might be because one person.. Someone couldnt helped... A million no one can do much... So.. Yea

  • DON'T LEAVE ADVIL WHERE YOUR DOG CAN GET IT, SMART GUY.

  • It's because the human mind isn't made to understand statistics, or numbers very well for that matter. When you see an individual case, it triggers a much greater response because you actually see what's happening.

  • I think that people don't freak out about that stuff as much because they hear about it very often. If they see a dead dog they say,"OMG what happened? :'( " because they don't see that as often as they hear about starving children.

  • Xbox ya ps2 sucks

  • @slorelease ... You are the most blind fanboy i have ever had the chance of read.

  • hello again 240P

  • That fool is playing xbox haha.

  • "People" do freak out over the larger issues, but individuals are much more likely to feel capable if intervening when it is a smaller issue.

Take the Nazax Challenge: Single-handedly effect any single decision made by the board of ANY fortune 5oo company.

  • Old School Phil is awesome. :3

  • Because the millions dying of hunger, or are homeless DON'T have a choice. The owner of the dog had the opportunity to feed him he had money even might of had dog food but CHOSE not to give it to him he didn't have to die. If u could help the others and give them food you would. having food and dying of starvation is dumb not having food and dying of starvation makes sense :)

  • I miss this type of video

  • because they feel like they can do something for the dog not the people

  • My answer is that people are emotional retards.

  • magazine, not clip

  • i'm 12 years old and what is this?

  • @Montak545 fucking awesomeness

  • i think is hte name

  • you look like matthew brodrick

  • Becuz if someone you relate to dies, the link had sentimental value. But if millions you dont know die, sure its a tradgedy, but ther was no link and no emotional contact.

  • Because it's easier to relate to a single incident then it is to fathom that millions r dieing

  • Is it bad if I know who Lexington Steele is?

  • @WiNiichan ugh no that's just how he talks and if you don't like it you don't have to watch, even of it's just out of curiosity :P

  • sxephil ate my panini. what the fuck?

  • in every video you're talking with your mouth full of food or something.. It's so awfull to watch.. you really do disgust me

  • @WiNiichan you said in every video meaning you've watched multiple vids. if he disgust you then why watch more then one? are you stupid?

  • @SparkSSBM skipping through his vids.. just out of curiosity.. I wonderd if it was a disease.. or just a one vid thing..

  • dude i think of the multiple people loosing their lives moreso than just one...but i think people might be drawn to give a damn about one person rather than millions because when you hear about one person u hear the whole story and connect with the individual

  • The audio is a bit off.

  • I think people freak out over animal abuse because that animal doesn't have a choice... they are defenseless and did nothing to deserve the abuse. Human beings are the most intelligent mammal on the planet. Homeless people have a choice. They can choose to not work, to not educate themselves and thus they go hungry. With as many financial aid programs that their are, these days, success in this country is a matter of choice. For humans, there is ALWAYS a choice..not for animals

  • the reason we dont worry about those big trajedies well we do sometimes. but when we dont its cause those things sometimes arent personal to you. your dog dieing is al ittle more personal.

  • because americans love a random dog more than a perfect stranger go to any country away from the us or canada and they treat dogs like an animal all the brown countries sout all the european countries they even eat them in the far east

  • idk why the governemt heck even the president is letting people starve to death just because they cant afford it. is 2 dollars really worth a life?

  • You Look like Michael Myers!! You should be the Killer!!! Or must be the killer.

  • xbox FTW!

  • People can relate to one person or dog dieing they can picture that. Millions starving isn't something people can really imagine unless they've seen it first hand. Its also something that people really just don't like to think about.

  • Thank you, Mr. de Franco, I will indeed have an std free weekend.

  • Millions of problems = Difficult, one problem = a chance to make urself look and act like you give a shit.

  • @IAlwaysPlantA you know thats really fucked up

  • @Galadoor No its true, the truth sucks.

  • @IAlwaysPlantA not at all speak for yourself obviously alot of people "give a shit"about this subject and many many people donate to charities you just have a screwed up sense of reality.

  • @Galadoor The reason most charities are made is so money is sent through them, they act as a middle man and make profit, notice i said most so dont say that the red cross doesnt do that cuz i know they dont.

  • @IAlwaysPlantA because they need money to.either way that wouldn't work if no one cared

  • @Galadoor People will donate 2 cents to say that they "care" thats bullshit feed one kid with two cents. Charitys ask for little because they know its beneficial to them and not the children. The less they ask for the more people donate and they get more money for themselves. Besides if they wanted to help they would ask for bottled water and canned food not money.

  • @IAlwaysPlantA alright you apparently dont understand.its not 2 cents its like 5 dollars if 100 people donate 5 dollars thats 500 dollars.however there are alot more people than that that donate.sxephil has raised 1000s of dollars for charities.thats where they get there bottled water.

  • @IAlwaysPlantA its not 2 cents its like 5 dollars a month.if 100 people do that for a year thats 6000 dollars and alot more than 100 people do that.also people pay millions to charities every year .sxephil has raised thousands for multiple charities. money pays for bottled water.

  • He ate a bunch of Advil. How does that happen? I mean, really, I want to know.

  • waaah three years ago!

  • awwwwww such a cute dog =)

  • because if people could feel the empathy for a million peoples familys they would attempt to join the statistic

  • Well.. because ppl are effin stupid thats why. Not all of em but the ratio from stupid to tool has gotten a bit to large.

  • It becomes personal when you get more information about them. When a group of people die then you just are like "Oh well that sucks" because you really never knew anything about them.

  • It's because in larger groups, people become anonymous

So if there's only 1 person, it's an individual and in a larger group it is just the group

  • because as society progresses, we reach new highs in ignorance and arrogance

  • qotd: because people are more attached to the story behind the story. one million people with the same problem is just a huge mass of people with one problem....but when you hear that poor lil Fido is being starved, you freak out and start to wonder why this man did it. and then you find the story behind the story. People get interested when there are specifics. Plus, the news talks about situations with homeless people all the time, not people starving their dog.

  • because when you look at millions of people in need and 1 dog being killed you want to do something naturally. but people are going to take the easier road with 1 clear person to blame.

  • I know this is pretty late but I think it's because it's hard for people to get attached to large groups of things. Like it's nearly impossible to know a million people on a deep emotional/personal level, but it's fully possible to know one guy on a deep personal level. So people are just find one death more relatable.

  • I think that people cannot understand or fathom such large numbers so it has less of an impact.

  • haha doodies

  • The most important news to me that you said in this video was "the cake is a lie". Just kidding. ^_^

  • office? this guy must live with his mom

  • dude i know its like 3 years late but i used to work at taco bell...and thats what i said..grade F meat...very nostalgic thanks

  • It doesn't surprise me when police shoot people who they don't agree with. I always think I'm about to be murdered if I see a cop.

  • Lol that movie was actually pretty good o.O

  • I think it's because with one death, you can go "screw u... hipi..." but with a million, it's just like "oh... yeah.. they're dead now... what a shame... how sad?" kinda like an amazing essay with 1 page vs a super crappy over detailed 1million paged book... You don't give a shit about the novel

  • i think it was because it was a dog. cute basterds.

  • You wanna know why I do not care about the millions starving in africa but care about a dog starving?

The dog could easily be fed, starving it is a deliberate choice by its owner. The millions starving, there really is fuck all I can do to help them but even if I could well, they live in a area that can not support the number of people currently there. Then, they continue to breed like fucking rabbits putting even more strain on it. If I donate money to feed them they will just continue anyway.

  • NOOOOOO, THE CAKE IS A LIE!!!!!

  • people freak out over small things, like individual stories, because they seem more personal. a statistic, like a million deaths, is horrible, but without the personal effect or "grab" it's harder to get someone interested because it doesn't have the same pull as a more detailed smaller incidents that may be easier to relate to themselves through the smaller story.

  • Hey, Portal shout out! nice Phil

  • Phil, As a person of my age I know how it feels to have one little thing bother me and count the thousands dead a little thing, which it's not. I fell strongly that the reason people do that is because they are scared to face the truth and focus on one thing.

  • 0:10 opps. he rubs his nose just like a coke fiend.

  • Cocaine? 0:11 I wonder if the Philly D used to do some coke....

  • Comment removed

  • people do that because it is easier to blame someone for it the million can be impacted by what we do but wont be because america is lazy but the one death and or tragedy is already done and the blame can be cast on one person or a group of people PLZ READ!!

  • A person can easily deal with a few tragedies at once, but to deal with millions of these things at once... you'd go into an emotional overload, mind and body would not be able to deal with that much feeling. So most people act like nothing is happening and continue with their lives as the lower 1% suffers and dies.

  • the thing about the hungry peopl can be explained by a simple saying. Ten deaths is a tragity, ten thousand is a statistic.

  • I think phill read Shattered by eric walterscuz its about homeless people and gas that same quote in it

    Just sayin

  • In my opinion, and I am just one person, it's because people can't handle thinking that big. I mean whe you are really stressed about something, you tend to start with the smallest and easiest problems to tackle and work your way up. Maybe people are too scared that they cant handle the bigger problems because they dont know if they can help all of those people, but for some rason they think they can speak out for someting smaller and maybe be heard.

  • Response to end: I do! But maybe by Katy Perry?

  • the reason is because most of the usa population is dumb down .. whats really sad is i seen this female i work with walk by this homeless man he asked could she get hem a sub from the store he said i have two dollars but the owner will not let me enter she said no and walked right by the man ..i helped me out but later on that day at work this retard was cry about some dumb shit about how the aspca was putting pitbulls to sleep because they was to damn evil lol do u see a problem here ?

  • Phil, I think people hook onto one death like Fido because I think the human mind is incapable of empathizing or sympathizing with so many people at once. People can look at one dog, or person, and empathize with their situation, but to do with that with millions of people, or animals, respectively, is impossible, in my opinion. I think our brains are unable to process so much sorrow at one time. Maybe it's a defense mechanism? I don't know. Those are just my thoughts.

  • You're god... portal refereance...

    BEST DAY EVAR!

  • He's so entitled. I hate him. Also I love him. I don't think I've watched this for two years and I just relapsed. Dammit.

  • that fool is playin cod haha

  • What the fuck bro? Your show fucking sucks

  • @chicagoo17 oh yeah??? he makes money off this shit so stop hating and get a job

  • @hunterbob21 haha and LOTS of it :P and i personally think hes FUCKIN AWESOME lol

  • 420 is my # b.. so I watched this vid cuz it has 420k+ views and 420 is my #.. im likin your vids styl, still dun get why your #1 most subscribed but uh...keep up wid the vids man your making ppl happy o.o

  • The question to your answer:

One accident is according to plan. If one person dies, everyone goes crazy, but if a busload of citizens blow up, no one cares. Why is this? Because its all according to plan.

Hell yes, The Dark Knight actually had a point!

  • i know this video is old .. but in response, 1 death is personal and a 1 million death is public.. you dont know all the names of the million people and if u took to time to care as much about those 1 million people individually you wouldnt have time to care about poor old fido

  • there no shortage of food, there's a shortage of access to food hurray capitalism

  • because one becomes personal but many become your responsibility and no one wants to deal with a bunch of shit

  • Its' something people can comprehend. One person dying is a lot easier to relate to rather than a whole mass of people. You know?

  • I think they freak out about one death coz they can relate to a single human or animal dieing but when it comes to a massive statisctic then most people will not be able to truly imagine seeing a scene of soo many dead or homeless. Also as there's so many then it takes away the 'speciality' of the story and so if it isnt unique news and its something ppl are seeing all the time then the public get used to hearing about these statisctics and never can fully relate to them

  • cuz the dog has a singular face.

  • Because the world is fucking lazy. There's no need for anymore explaination.

  • because you can relate to one person (dog) because 1 is = to one retard but

1 < 1'00'005 so people pay attention to that because they can have more meaning in there opinions. no the reasons are infinite why people do or dont care more about 1 death then 1'000'005 i just went on a rant about this 1 reason coz its better then just calling some one a pot smoking jungle fever mel gibbson suck off like most people do randomly when you can instead of just making your mam jokes say real things like ?

  • because they don't have to SEE the homeless people suffering or starving. Out of sight/out of mind. That's the only reason I can think of.

  • jajaja now you're thinking with portals :D

  • oooh, you play xbox and have COD 4 :O

  • There isnt even such thing as grade F dipshit

  • I could say that it is to difficult to grasp - to large. Harder to relate.

  • People get upset about 1 tragedy over 1 million tragedies because they can speak out or do something for a singular event, 1 million tragedies takes entire nations to do something about and is probably quite expensive ( stopping the holocaust for instance).

this is a good seguay into the war in Iraq and the removal of Saddam who gassed villages of his own people due to their different ethnicities and how its used as a anti Bush theme when it was the right thing to do regardless of wmd's

  • umad? =)

  • ok, I must ask (as a fan) you don't like to talk about politics because it's all the same, please be specific and say what that "sameness" is. you have the podium to influence enough people to make a change. Tell us, the lambs, what the sheapheard sees.

  • @yaslmiri this was 2 years ago. Get over it.

  • @yaslmiri

He's either not interested in politics, or he doesn't want to anger his fans because he has a different opinion on it.

  • @DaleStrickland This guy is too smart to ignore Politics, he'll mature and realise that there's a lot in Politics that we never hear about and it's a goldmine of material for a brilliant satirist such as he.

  • @felixq78

I doubt it. Differences in opinion of politics would cause a shitstorm similar to that of a "pro choice" abortion video.

  • A little Spartan but nice.

  • THE CAKE IS LIE!!!!

    *dies*

thumbs up just for the portal reference. and just in case you actually read this comment, considering how old this video is, as much as I love your new stuff, I really love watching your old stuff because you were so much more into giving us a positive message and reinforcing the good in us. not saying you're a prick now, it's just nice to see the old you again.

    ps, massive fan here lol.

  • Posted on my bday

  • we dont just focus on single deaths. Im sure hurricane katrina will get more publicity than my nan dying. But i would be affected more by the latter. We only focus on what directly affects us which usually is single deaths

  • The movie actually ended up being REALLY good

  • As I said before, it's because it's not in the news. This was all Over the news, BUT MILLIONS OF PEOPLE aren't. No matter how many DIE the news perfers to report on celebrities. People can't tell what to do. If u see a homeless person, DoNT TURN away, bring them a dinner, sit down, talk to them, buy them a night in a hotel, tell them about a homeless shelter. I did this once, and the man found an old friend at the shelter, the other man worked at a company who's janitor was about to retire

  • i would save a dog over a random person any day

  • Sodomized by Lex Steele? Dude... you'll choke.

  • wanted to snail mail you till i saw this: philpost.gov.ph/web/international_postage_rates.pdf

  • i see your still about

  • I know this is old, but I'm not always following so an old video may seem new to me? More than you needed to know... but i think the reason people freak out over a single death and not over the death of millions is because we as americans are groomed to tune out the suffering of the world and focus on the struggle of the few. But at the same time when we are freaking out over the single death of someone we could just be letting out all of our pent up, ignored/misplaced sadness about the world

  • Because millions of people are nameless, faceless figures. And until people are slapped in the face with the fact of the other prople's suffering, they won't give a damn.

  • QOTD: people freak out over the dog because they believe it is innocent mind and hasn't dont any harm to anyone.

  • its the fact that it is a dog. people don't give a f*$k about people but put a animal in danger and it horrible!

  • thumbs up for cod4 pic on the tv at first

  • your voice sounds firmiliar.. then when i heard u say the cake is a lie... hey wasup goldproject? see u in the raid tonight :P

  • Peoples lives are ruled by tabloids. If tabloids/ news channels covered man on 23rd block of north avenue doesn't eat tonight! Megan foxes opinion of this development! Almost 25,000,000 won't be eating along with this man! Iced t is hysterical!" you'd have donations flooding in. Instead, they cover the intimate details of some random celebrities relations. "news" now has nothing to do with the people who receive it. I actively attempt to avoid all news. No good comes from it. Except enter

  • You always crack me up :D

  • A lot of times when I've done LSD I didn't hallucinate. The 1st time I did, I had consumed (3) hits of Blotter. Many people don't realize the difference between an illusion and a hallucination. Well, I was seeing scorpions all over the bedroom wall. It wasn't as scary as you might think. The scorpions were pink, blue, green, etc. I clearly knew that they weren't real. I must say though, you have to be really Fd' up to be hallucinating (obviously).

  • i saw ur xbox n cod4

  • Caring for people does not help them, if anything it can make the situation worse.

  • most people cant comprehend death on that scale

  • I think it's because you feel like you can save one person but you feel helpless about saving 1000 people.

  • Dude the homless People were i Live can get off the curb and go get a Job at the millions of places that are hiring and à dog cant do shizz about it

  • Question- cuz ppl own pets like dogs and cats and bunnies and rabid fish, and the hate to imagine seeing that happen to their pet, no one owns I pet hobo (that I know of) so y would they care, ya ppl r dumb

  • well nice for you to talk about hurricane katrina becouse if i remember your politics ignore the warrning of the netherlands experts who whas in washingthon for a conference a few years before hurricane katrina to reinforce the dikes around new orleans but the the bush gabinet ignore their warrnings and look what happend if you ignore the warning of people who live practically one water then your asking for trouble your self so go blame bush for katrina

  • made on my bday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!w00p w00p

  • these massive starving situations are too much for a person to understand or relate to. but one incident with a starving dog, is something everyone can relate to. so we decide to not care about what we cant relate to and over react to what we can. :) humans are great creatures huh?

  • 2k4nt @ hey man don't worry bout these assholes their just trolling cause they probably live in their moms basement looking at this and porn cause they can't get dates. Peace man

  • its hard to relate to a million people but easier to relate to one person in trouble

  • AHAHA...PORTAL JOKES. :l

  • i think people freak out over one death because they could've in some cases fixed it and prevented it but with a huge problem it takes more then some people ready to pay

  • You're playing COD 4! Woooo!

  • Fuck people starving in Africa. Why does the USA have to worry about anyone execpt themselves. I agree with helping people with jobs here in the USA but why the hell should we go give food to random people in Africa or Hati or where ever.

  • @kakoieric Yeah. Especialy when we have people IN THE US starving.

  • most of my comments could be summed up with the like button.

  • Comment removed

  • Eh, this response is late, but whatever.

If it's one incident, it's easy to punish the offender for it. You can fix it easier. With millions of people, you can't blame anyone (for one), and it's a BITCH to fix.

  • A single incident is personal, but a million is just an overload of despair. Oh, and 2k4nt? I'm typing on my iPod as well.

  • wow another dick thats going to have a go at me for some spelling erors. u people need to get a life.

  • the iPod update helps u with ur spelling on youtube and other stuff. i turned mine off before u say. so u can fuck off as well.

  • @2k4nt No, I didn't use auto-correct... I just typed it out all on my own. And if there were only 'some' spelling errors, I wouldn't be saying anything. What you typed seemed to be in another language.

  • It's not a 'shortage of food in the world' that makes millions of people unable to eat tonight - there's actually far far more than enough food to feed everyone - it's the access to and distribution of food that makes certain people unable to get it. You can learn more about it at feedingamerica org and foodbanknyc org and find out more about one of the most fulfilling volunteer opportunities you can easily become a part of.

  • "in other news the cakes a lie"- priceless considering i beat portal yesterday

  • @MrJack9087 lol i wish i could have ate that cake

  • My personsonal opiniun that most of u probaly dont care about but here it is sterio types, the sterio typical tramp is a druggy or somebody who hasnt worked, they also sterio typr afica cuz of there starving people they (the gouverntment) show us all this bad stuff and make us pay money to random people we dont kno and they migh be keeping that money, i kno that was harsh but its an opiniun. I kno this is gunna sound crazy but i agree with ubisoft in the sense that there are "greater" people s

  • @2k4nt SPEAK FUCKING ENGLEESH. Either that or your first language isnt actauly english-anyway Greater peoples I can belive in. Not greater in social or economic classes but more of a..spiritual? type of thing. You know those people who just make your day after you talk with them for 2 minutes. Or those who help others for nothing but a sense of usefulness? eh-I know im not one of them so why should I give a flying fuck-

  • I didnt ask for ur thoughts if u look u will see that i put "most of u probbalby wont care about" and yes i do hav trouble spelling (even though im quite good at English). and wat the fuk are u talking about nobody spells properly on the internet, usally people put short turmes like "lol" for example. i was also commenting on my ipod and there quite triky. also, i try and live my life with out trying to be horrible why cant u be exseptent of every body else. what kind of a name is knifecollector

  • @2k4nt What.....R.......You talking about?>.<

  • @shartallover im puttin my personal opinion cuz thats wat the comment pages r for. ow btw (thats mean by the way if u dont understand that as well) thank u for being nice about wat i put unlike those pricks up there who hav just had a go at me for puttin how i feel in bad spelling, i kno it doesnt make sense and i do hav diffcultys spelling so dont be horrible for no reason cuz i havnt done anything wrong.

  • @2k4nt YOU CAN NOT .....S P E L L ....THAT BAD !!!!!! IT IS ...F U C K ' N CRAZY !!! IT IS ACTUALLY MORE DIFFICULT & TIME CONSUMING TO ..S P E L L ..THOSE WORDS !!! ARE YOU FUCK'N BLIND ??? CUZ IF YOU ARE THAN ''KUDOS'' , JOB WELL DONE, BUT IF YOUR NOT THAN, WELL, YOUR STILL IN TROUBLE BECAUSE THAT PARAGRAPH MADE ABSOLUTLY NO SENSE !! SO I GOT TO THINKING THAT MAYBE YOU ''INTENTIONALLY' SPELLED THE WORDS TO GET A RESPONSE.............BUT THEN IF THAT WAS TRUE WOULDN'T IT HAVE MADE SENSE ?

  • who the fuk r u 2 hav a go at me, I hav a write 2 put my thoughts on the web, do u think u can just go around havin a go at people, are u that much of a snobby, stuck up, prick that u just want to go around getting people 2 correct there spelling. I dont even kno why im bothering with a fucking twat like you, I cant even understand why nob heads like u are aloud to live in this world.

and for ur information i do have difficultys spelling even though im quite good at english.

  • @2k4nt Don't bother reading my message you stupid shit. Iphone or keyboard pick your favorite. You still can't spell even with a damn. by the way, Knifecollector is a variation on my nickname blade. I'm a backyard blacksmith with over 37 knives in stock and another 150 sold. Have a nice life asshole, I know I will.

  • @sheetmetalMirrors You've got a point there. I think we should spam his inbox with bullshit comments. what do you think?
