  • Excellent pickups Owen, çoads of quality titles to play through. Nothing wrong with getting duplicates & you can always use them for trades :) Cool, skull monkeys thats on my want list - not a bad platformer. but did you sort it out with the seller with regards to condition & postage?

  • @1msx2go Cheers Richard, I always have a bit of a game buying binge after Xmas and this year's been no different. I find it very difficult to pass by any quality game for a bargain price, duplicate or not, and regardless of whether I can play it. I bought a Mega CD game last week with the idea that I'd nab a cheap system from ebay, they're a bit pricier than I thought!

I still haven't got back to the Skullmonkeys seller, I've been bottling it, I will though, when I grow some balls.

  • I'll be sad when all the Gamestation 49p stock has gone! It'll be one less place to get retro bargains. Over the last few weeks I've grabbed a ton of good Xbox titles. It's so satisfying to walk out of there with a big stack of games having only spent a fiver :) .

I think you're right about the thumbs down people. Seems there's a few people on here that despise anyone who resells what they find. I know any time I mention reselling an item in a video it gets more thumbs down.

    Great finds, Owen!

  • @RetroGameTech Cheers mate. Yep, I have to agree, it was inevitable though, shelf space dedicated to a few old school games is never going to be as profitable as it would be if it was used for the current gen. It's a shame because it's one of the few ways that you can differentiate Gamestation from GAME. Yeah, 49p is great for all the titles you wanted to play but never took the plunge.

Any reselling seems to carry a taboo with some people, maybe they see it as too dispassionate.

  • what's a pie key?

  • @xWiRuZu 'Pikey' is term used to describe people who go around stealing lead from church roofs or copper from hospital generators, really low end opportunistic petty criminals, a bit like scavengers, they normally drive around in a bashed up van and then sell their swag at a carboot sale. People used to use it as an offensive term to describe a certain group of people but I think that's changed now, it's still not 100% p/c though.

  • @LeBossu77 lol, i think i may know a few pikeys haha.

  • dreamfall is a great game, it is a third person adventure, the actual gameplay is nothing amazing but the story and environments are superb really hope they do a sequel to it, def a hidden gem, all the wipeout games r great, still remember the orig on ps1, rock solid! u ever played the remake or resi evil on gamecube? highly rec it. I have literally 3 copies of metal gear solid 2 and i have resi 4 on gc, wii, ps2, and on psn, nothing wrong with duplicates!!

  • @bedtime143 Yeah, that was the impression I got, storyline is a major part of the game which is no bad thing in my book. The earlier PC title looks to have a decent reputation as well.

No, I've got the GC Resident Evil but not played it yet. I'm guessing the Wii version would be worth having as well, from what I've seen it looks like the game'll fit the motion controls nicely.

I've got a few copies of Resi. 4 as well, but one of them is in French that I bought by accident!

  • That packing job is amazing. Tape around bubble wrap? Ballsy. And those are some awesome pick-ups, especially Street Fighter Alpha 2. I'd also like to have King's Field as a collector's piece, and to see if I could actually make my way through it - I only played it a few times way back in 1995 or so. Skullmonkeys can fetch a mint over here, depending on condition, but even a so-so copy can get $25+.

  • @TGApuleius The bubble wrap/tape combination makes it looks like a brick of some illegal substance, I'm surprised it made the journey in one piece. I've still yet to see anything that tops Pete's 'kitchen towel' package though.

I think King's Field is interesting as a part of the evolution of the genre but it's dated badly, it looks like a less self conscious Minecraft. Skullmonkeys is all about the humour though, it's everywhere, the game feels like a slower Donkey Kong Country.

  • Lol Owen im sure you could make an episode of monty python with all that material!! (im just waiting for someone to dump an old matress in the skip and the an old citroen cv like in one foot in the grave)

as for the dupe games buying thing meh my attitude is some scumbag re-seller will only snap em up anyway!

some excellent games there mate id not heard of the square game before so i'll be sure to keep an eye for it!

  • @tootyuk Having a skip is a minefield, I didn't know how attached I was to the mound of crap we'd got. Last year we chucked out a knackered TV and a filing cabinet for the recycling people but they'd gone by the morning. I don't want it but I'd at least like the choice of where my rubbish goes! haha

Cheers mate, Unlimited Saga will be 'for collections only', it's a bit of a turkey by all accounts with some seriously floored gameplay mechanics. I'm determined to see the good in it tho.

  • Can we have the "low down" on the two bath rooms story? Is it a London thing? Is one specifically for Northerners that is just a whole in the ground and the bath is a pit lined with radiation and filled with dead children's tears? P.s. I'm loving the unit in the back ground. Sadly for you Walshsock has the area covered with a better class of granny furniture

  • @lakepalmer Not much of a 'low down', two small bathrooms about 2ft square each with some shoddy 20 year old tiling and piss stained flooring, it was time for a change. No, no bathroom specifically for Northeners, just a compost heap. I inherited the piece of shit unit from my great aunt Gertrude, it's got sentimental meaning along with it's contents of Indian menus and dead batteries.

  • Dreamfall is a pretty good adventure game, I've played a bit of it but need to go back to it. Wish I'd picked up Silent hill 4, I'm sure I'll find it in my travels eventually. Haha I've been in a charity shop and the old dear has asked me if they were DVDs and I've had to say no games. I haven't had much luck in charity shops recently to be honest and I thought I would. I wouldn't turn down a FF duplicate, your not alone. You got some brilliant pickups Owen.

  • @kazxena It sounds great, and not at all dumbed down. I have read that it ends just as you're getting attached to the characters though, and when it's over you're left hanging about what happened to them. I suppose it's not all bad because at least the game makes you care.

I have noticed that there are more batches of games in the charity shops as if people are have a new year clear out, they're not always worth having but I get excited when I see a row of PS1 titles! haha Cheers Karen

  • @bluetonic78 You can call me out mate when i reveal how many new gaming related items have entered my spare room over the last couple of weeks what with the 49p sale, trades, charity shop finds and an unexpected parcel from Japan.I have spent £70-£80 but their are at least 30 different items and one of them cost 50% of the total!.It seems for a man claiming to be slowing down things are not quite going to plan but i do have plenty of content for future episodes of the 4 Pinter now lol :)

  • @darrenwalshsock I see my reply to your comment has disappeared into the vortex! Not sure if that's because you deleted your comment which in turn automatically deleted mine or what. How bizarre!

Anyway, as for buying games - well don't feel guilty or ashamed - we all go through phases of spending sprees. I'm happy to spend pittance at the moment because what I want (one recent big purchase aside) is cheap and cheerful. The bigger buys will happen as the year progresses though as per usual!

  • @bluetonic78 That is rather strange although i did try to delete my comment that i had already deleted for spelling reasons earlier so it's possibly my fault although kinda weird how it would remove your comment as well lol.

Im not even going to mention needing to slow down because im starting to sound like an old record but it would seem daft not to be picking up games when they are selling them for so little money at the minute :)

  • Comment removed

  • I picked up Wipeout 2097 in the 49p sale class game and yeah no one is passing up resident evil and final fantasy 7 Thats coming from me tho and I am evil reseller scum mahahahaha!

  • @gavsabbath I couldn't pass it up, and it's surprisingly hard to get hold of for a game that was massive when it was first released, and it wasn't a platinum copy which was a bonus. 49p?! It'd be rude not to wouldn't it!

I sell some things on to keep myself in games, and I only do that a few times a year because it does my nut in. Problem is I'm getting to the point where I've ticked a lot of games off my list, so I'm seeing more and more duplicates.

  • Im trying not to laugh about the duck tape thats holding your eBay package together :)

  • @darrenwalshsock Don't worry about it mate, I'd be laughing as well. I've yet to test it but when I do the seller's toast! I can't complain too much though, it's not as bad as the kitchen towel that Snestatic had a while back.

  • They will definitely scrap the unsold games mate,it would make no business sense to keep them in store taking up shelf/floor space and continuing to move them around will only cost the company money that they don't have.Unfortunately the cheapest option for Gamestation now will be to dump them all into your skip but failing that they will probably just use there own.I spoke to the manager of my store recently and he told me that there will be huge closures for Gamestation stores this years.)

  • @darrenwalshsock Shit, I can see how that'd make sense, he did seem a bit cagey about it when I asked him anyway, I should've just asked him straight about any scrappages. They're welcome to head over to my house and use my skip though, we've got it past January as well.

That'll be a kick in the nuts if they are closing stores, I don't really buy too much current gen. stuff though. Three branches have closed around here in the last year, they've left a massive gap on the high st

  • THUMBS DOWN FOR YOU MATE, OH YEAH!

  • @ThumbdownMan Great timing my good man. I honestly feel honoured that you've chosen my video, cheers dude.

  • Bloody pikeys they'll nick owt, i remember when i lived in my old house the lad across road nicked one off a skip those that are clamped on & you cant turn off I could see the yellow flashing light coming from his bedroom window for days haha. Nice Pick ups, amazes me how much good stuff you find in charity shops, unfortunately theres not many around near me without venturing into town. I hate ebay packaging, i've had some shit in my time but gaffer tape? thats an all time cheapness.

  • @shockz16 I've got more respect for people who plan a bank robbery than people who swipe a skip light, it's probably the same bunch who nicked the copper from that hospital generator a while back! Was the kid who nicked the light a bit slow? haha He didn't cover his tracks too well.

Cheers mate, this just feels like the time of year when people ship stuff out in favour of new gear, a lot of it'll probably end up on ebay but some should end up with the charities.

  • cool pick up vid can you hlap iam look for in the hunt.on ps1.ps iam not ebay..

  • @AIRWLOF Cheers Jason, I'm glad you liked it. I know there are two copies of In The Hunt on ebay at the moment, both from the same seller. They're asking about £30 which is a bit heavy, £15-£20 is about the money but they will take offers. I've not seen any other copies around I'm afraid.

  • Superb range of quality gaming pickups :)

No, theres no way I'd pass up a retro bargain anywhere, I'm not sure if anyone could do tbh so I wouldnt worry about it, if you did pass up FF7 chances are the person who bought it would only stick it on ebay, in the end when you sell the game it will be with someone who will play it but you will have some spare cash to invest in another game for your collection so its a win win situation :)

KOF are cracking games, some great backgrounds.

  • @craigsheree Cheers Craig, although looking back I do seem to have gone a bit overboard this time.

It's almost a reflex reaction to pick up a game that I know and love, strangely I tend to avoid games for systems that I don't have, I'm guessing being able to play a game helps to justify the purchase, duplicate or not. You're right though, it all goes back into the pot, selling on ebay does my nut in though!

Yeah, I have to agree about KoF, I just need a decent Arcade stick now.

  • @LeBossu77 Yes, picking up a great game from a charity shop or a crack convertors is similar to taking in a stray cat, you feel like your giving something a second chance in life lol

I've only been into the KOF games for the past few months, I bought the ps2 ones as they were released a few years ago but never gave them much time, I've always been 100% Street Fighter, its only recently I met a fellow neo geo collector I've been bitten by the bug after he kept banging on about them :)

  • @craigsheree I totally agree, you're giving them a chance to fulfill their destiny, if not with you then with someone else who'll appreciate them, it's almost like rehabilitation before they get sent out into the world again! haha

Yeah, I'm getting to really appreciate the KoF series, they're understated and not as showy as something like Guilty Gear and you really have to work hard to get anywhere, I'm sure the series has got some of the hardest bosses in all fighters.

  • charity shops have gold nuggets sometimes! i gave away my entire retro collection and sold my entire dreamcast collection to my bro for $80. i figure he can make 3 times his money back if he he was hurting for it. at the same time i have opened an online seller account and have about $2000 of stock which obviously is money i'll never have all at once. it just goes to show why i was smart to not donate the non-game storage, haha, the games are nothing compared what i got out of the deal.

  • @roleplayerthegamer I've always suspected somebody might do that! So you're the mystery benefactor, just on the wrong side of the Atlantic!? I wish I had the balls to drop my whole collection into an Oxfam. So your assets are tied up in games at the moment? I can see the sense in that, my duplicates amount to about a fraction of that, just enough to keep me in new games for a while. I couldn't be dealing with that amount of stock, online selling does my nut in.

  • @LeBossu77 my stock isn't games though, lol i sold my bro my dreamcast and let him take the nes, snes, n64 and all the games. ps1/2/3 360, wii, gamecube, bba, ds, psp and gameboycolor. i may give hime my gameboy advance sp since i can play gba om my ds (or rom lol) i have some nice baa games actually, i'll do a collection vid on the handhelds. what happened is i have other things for sale that i can cash in on but it's shared so i had to sacrifice my n64 and snes games (rare/complete)

  • LeBossu77: I'm conscious of the time.

Video is still 30mins :P. Nah, I'm kidding, I love your videos. Silent Hill 4 and Dreamfall are both amazing games and pick ups. It's really hard to find used game stores in Australia selling for a reasonable price. They usually charge $15 (around 9 pounds) for an Xbox game.

  • @KokoaShuzen Yep, if you watch enough of my videos you'll see that the intent is there but the ability to do anything about it is sadly lacking, I've been saying 'One day I'll make a short video' since about day one! haha I'm glad you enjoy them either way mate, cheers.

I think last gen. is being phased out over here as well, a lot of high st. shops are deciding to stock only current gen. titles and the indie shops have to have inflated prices just to survive.

  • I've been on the occasional ebay prowl for Skullmonkey's but it consistently fetches a few quid so i've always held back which is bizarre because in the past I haven't batted an eyelid at paying $15 for a PS3 game that i'm only half interested in. Thankfully those shenanigans are few and far between these days (he say's, 1 month into this new routine).

Ah, The Black Cauldron - remember it well - completed my 1985 Panini sticker album too.

  • @bluetonic78 It's always held my interest ever since I missed out on it. I think it's a pseudo-sequel to something called Neverhood on the PC, although I'm not sure that's even a game. I've watched plenty of game play of it and it's always good for a laugh, one of the very few genuinely funny games, I couldn't vouch for how it plays though. And it'll hold it's value, unlike a $60 PS3 game! Go on, take the plunge.

1985? I only ever completed '87, no thanks to David Bardsley.

  • @bluetonic78 Sooner or later your going to have to come clean about all of those new games Alex lol :)

  • two bathrooms,posh bastard LOL

  • @luckysixpence Just about, but they're both roughly 2 foot square! haha At the moment we're left with the old bath that I can't fit in, and I'm no Peter Crouch...

  • Tried and tested pick up the vids ah a classic genre on the gaming community, personally i like them. Love the Atari Xbox game a bit of retro heaven right there,I agree with Wipeout awesome game and great for its time.Lovely PS1 midway jobby as well Paperboy is pure nostalgia for me, my first game on the Lynx. Duplicates are a necessary part of life, there are some games i will always buy. Sonic 1 for the MD is the only game i probably wouldn't pick up as i have 10. Splendid as always young man

  • @adfot1 That's all I do, tried and tested, I'm not a gambler you see, safe and steady that's what it is. And I'm a lazy fooker as well of course, can't deny it.

The real retro stuff has passed me by up until now, I've sort of avoided it in case my fond memories are ground to dust by what turn out to be some pretty aged games. I'd sell my old girl for a Vectrex though, that's proper retro.

I had Paperboy on the CPC 464 and I remember it being just as solid. Glad you liked the vid Squire.

  • yay waste money time

  • @SOLIDSNAKEXXX360 I love you.

  • I can,t beleave it you done it again lol you found the one game I been after in the wild ff7 and in the wild congrats thou finding them .p.s whst you need for the tekkan manual .

  • @timeteam1982 Sorry dude, the luck was with me that day though, especially when I just about scraped through the door before they shut up shop. The old lady fight made it an interesting experience all round. I don't need anything for the Tekken manual, send me your address in a PM (only if you trust me with it mind!) and I'll put it in the post for you.

  • NOOOO! Don't tell the sun to bugger off lol, I need it to dry my laundry ;p

UGH and you reminded me how much I miss Cash Converters; all of the stores in my area have closed :/

    Great vid and pickups mayte!!

  • @Kawaiiprincess01 Sorry about that, I think you may be overestimating the influence I have over the Sun though. haha Don't get me wrong, I love the little blighter as much as you do but sometimes, just sometimes, he/she is just an inconvenience, dazzling you when you least expect it...

Yes, Cash Converters, I love having a good old root around, sorry to hear that your branches are no more, they'll be back one day though, I'm sure of it.

  • @Kawaiiprincess01 Doh! I forgot to say thank you for the sub, I'm honestly very appreciative.

  • Gr8 vid Owen...

  • @MrMcoleman28 Cheers Michael, I'm glad you liked it, I'm hoping I'll have something different for next time.

  • so whats the oldest console u own then?

  • @emojo1990 I've got the Mega Drive from Dan and the Game Boy that CC10Gaming sent after Xmas but nothing earlier. I'm not that into the really early gens. but I like to understand how the games have evolved. Having said that I'd pimp my Nan for a Vectrex.

  • @LeBossu77 who wouldnt :)

  • Old habits die hard

i always enjoy seeing people packing games in bin bags or toilet roll.

  • @amurphy245 I'm glad my misfortune amuses you! haha I hope your ebay shop operates with better standards! Seriously though, you've got to have pretty low standards to think that'll cut the mustard, it doesn't beat Snestastic's 'Kitchen Towel' parcel though.

  • I agree, Charity shops have been very good lately for games

I wouldn't turn down Final Fantasy 7 or Resident Evil DC for 99p even if it was a duplicate, you did the right thing dude

One day you may receive a game from ebay wrapped in Toilet Paper, you never know hahahaha

  • @footloose20005 I think people feel guilty about over indulging at Xmas as well so they donate to charity shops to make themselves feel better, I'm definitely noticing more on the shelves. Carboots and Crack Converters should be the same if the principal is sound, they're always worth checking out.

I know Pete Snestastic has had an ebay purchase arrive wrapped in Kitchen Towel, that's pretty special, I don't think I'd have the balls to try that!

  • Love the way you start arguing with yourself about buying duplicates lol. Fuck that , I dont give it a second thought when buying duplicates.

Mate you are finding some great stuff. I managed to get Morrowind GOTY rom cex for £4 and that is the best deal in a while. It was for PC but nevermind.

Hope you left that guy bad feedback mate because thats poor.

  • @carbootgamerUK It seems to really piss off some of the precious fuckers out there who live under the delusion that stuff would be distributed evenly if we gave others a chance. Ebay does my nut in so I haven't got the stamina to do it all the time, just enough to keep myself in games.

Any Morrowind GotY is worth having, especially for £4, I'm aiming to play through it before trying Oblivion and Skyrim.

I'm going to test the game before leaving feedback, I'm not 100% it'll work.

  • Lol about duplicate games - could video :-)

  • @K1NGARTH3R Cheers mate, glad you liked it. I just have a sneaking feeling that some people don't like others with multiples of games, they're too hard to pass up though. The idea about 'thumb downers' applies to everything though. haha

  • Dreamfall looks interesting, if it's point n click i need to check it out ....

SnkVsCapcom was your first DC game? mine wasVF3tb, i love the DC!!!

    thx for post, and btw:

Do you have the FinalFantasy Trilogy on GBA, Owen?

  • @izaurralde No worries mate, thanks for watching. It looks like Dreamfall is an action adventure game rather than a point n click, it seems it had a precursor on the PC that was point n click though. It sounds really interesting, I think it'll be going to the top of my 'to play' list.

SNK vs Capcom was the first DC game that I've bought myself, I've had my DC for about a year now but only seen the common stuff in the wild.

I've not got the FF Trilogy, how do they hold up?

  • @LeBossu77 No, i don't have it either! {sniff}

  • @izaurralde I'll have to keep an eye out for it, is it three games on one cart?

  • @LeBossu77 i'm wrong - it's not a trilogy, it goes

    I +II

    III

    IV

    V

    and VI

the jerks at SquareEnix parcelled them out except the first two FFs!!

    not happy!!

  • @izaurralde I'll keep my eye out for them, I reckon they'll go for quite a heavy price though. I'm tempted by the DS titles, I've heard they're pretty good conversions.

  • Owen Conman: Professional Blagger."They is aint arf not aint worth naffin they aint!" I see the pencil has been demoted with "pen" taking the "waving actions" I found another ps 1 in Cancer Research. It was lovingly packaged, well wrapped in selotape! I watched Never Ending Story in a cinema in North Wales on holiday. The seats were minging!

  • @lakepalmer I ain't no fackin' blagger! It's just duckin' n divin' innit, and I ain't going to be taken for no mug neiva! Yep, the pencil had to go, it was a bit too retro, it's all about moving with the times you see, I don't want to be looking like no dinosaur.

Sellotape you say? They really went all out, was it actual Sellotape though or stuff from the 99p shop called Selatape?

Minging seats are all part of the experience, along with Pearl and Dean and Kiora.

  • @LeBossu77 Ah, Grammar/Spelling Nazi, where have you been all my life! *swoons

  • @lakepalmer Sorry Squire, that wasn't the intention at all, I can't be bitching about grammar anyway, that'll only make me a hypocrite....

  • Greetings !!

You got some great bargains there mate, you did very well to get capcom vs snk and kof neo wave for those prices, if at any point you would like to get rid of kof im your man !!

    Great stuff mate !!! Dal.

  • @SCRATCHMASTERDAL Hi mate. Yeah, I can't deny that I got lucky with some of these, cheers. That Gamestation branch always have one or two DC games on the go, for now at least, but they're usually the bog standard titles that you see everywhere. I was looking for the PS1 version of SNK vs Capcom but I might not bother now. No worries mate, I'll keep you in mind if I ever want to move KoF on.

  • @LeBossu77

    Ok Thanks !!!

  • Glad you said it's gaffa tape Owen, I've always wandered what it's called lol. I've had packages like that before, really pisses me off lol I hate shit ebay sellers like that :) Some great finds though mate and congrats finding Ico :) Can't say no to FF7 & Resi at 99p you'd be mad too :)

  • @Snestastic Remember it also comes in many colours, silver being the most popular! I know I bitched about it in the vid but it's genuinely miracle stuff, always carry some with you because you never know when you'll need it! haha

Was it you who had the item sent in Kitchen Towel? I think that's the best so far, although a purchase in a cereal packet was pretty special.

Good to hear we're on the same page, I sometimes feel that I buy too many duplicates, they're just hard to pass up.

  • @LeBossu77 lol yep that was me Owen, bloody kitchen roll, you have to laugh lol

  • @Snestastic What's next, toilet roll? How low can these people let their standards drop?
