Was this the first shuttle flight after the Columbia disaster? If I remeber right Columbia was February of 02.

The top of stratosphere is where they do the SRB separation. Very cool video

In other words, I would like to see the view as they actually leave Earth.
Amazing view,you always see from the side view and under it obviously.They have done that external tank view a couple of times but never leave it on for that length of time anymore and always cut away to some other view.Great video.

Well you see him 49 seconds into take off, he is already 2.5 miles into the atmosphere. I wonder why... the speed they travel at is incredible!
