The anti-tarnish silver plated wire keeps it's color nicely. I have rings that I made about 2 years ago that I wear all the time, and they still look great. For cleaning these rings, a mild jewelry cleaner works great. The ones that have no ammonia in them - that way you can use it on fine jewelry also. There is a great jewelry cleaner called Elva's Jewel Joy that I use on all my jewelry. I buy it off the internet. Here's the web site: nationalserviceco Thanks for writing.
Hi txcharm71 - No worries. I have made hundreds of these rings and I still have that happen to me. I try to save the spiral when this happens by un-doing it doesn't always work. You may have to cut the wire and start over. However, if the ring is all finished and you used a strong, unbreakable bead (like a kiln annealed lamprwork bead) you can put the ring back on the mandrel, and this is going to sound weird, but with the rubber hammer, you may be able to hammer the spiral (cont.)
@jewelsbyjazzy (cont.) wires flat. This works and will make the 2 sets of wires lay side by side in the spiral. But you can only hammer the spiral on a bead that can take the pressure and won't break. The key to the spiral is at the beginning making super tiny turns - almost so slowly and slight that you really cannot even see any movement. The first spiral takes the longest - and almost seems like the wire isn't even bending. Then as you get that first full circle in the spiral, (Cont)
@jewelsbyjazzy make sure to push down really hard with your thumb on the spiral as you make it. Pushing down on the spiral wires keeps the two wires side by side, so they don't creep up on each other. Then just go really slowly as you spiral to make sure you see the wires lay side by side with each turn. I hope that helps out. Jazzy :)
Hi katiekous! Thank you for watching and for the kind words. I have to give props to my hubby for the sound effects - he makes learning fun! Thanks again! Jazzy
