  • poor kids lol

  • I love it! I just started homeschooling my son this year, and hopefully I will be homeschooling all of my children within the next couple of years. This video is just so cute :)

  • i like it it describes us very well

  • LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!

  • This was filmed right up the street from my house!

  • Thats shit. You dint need to be home schooled to do all of that. Public/private/charter schools will give you real world experience. Some times you'll need to hear things you don't wanna hear or. You can't just shield yourself from it forever.

  • @SakuraHaruno824 ? what are you talking about?

  • lol Funny. I'm going to be homeschooling my child. The public school system would eat him alive.

  • @pianoboypiano Hi,I'm homeschooled also I go through connections academy online learning so do you go through that or by your parents?

  • @hockeystick6789 Well neither really... My mom is basically the principle but she can't really teach me calculus or chemistry II and such... I just use a text book...

  • If you have to explain how normal you are... You can't be that normal...

This made me LOL btw. :) (And I'm not dissing people who are homeschooled..)

  • @chocolatechick101 what do you mean? i didn't make the video...

  • @pianoboypiano What do you mean "What do you mean?" ? I was kinda talking to the people that are saying "I'm homeschooled and I'm normal!" Sorry for the confusion...

  • @chocolatechick101 Ohhh well we homeschoolers hate it when we're told we're not normal...

  • lol i know these people there my nabors there soo nice

  • Creationists give homeschoolers a bad name.

  • @ckunzler well then let's look at the big-bang theory: first there was nothing...then it exploded.

  • I have always homeschooled my children. The oldest two are in college and have had no problem with the transition .

  • This was hilarious! Congrats on a job well done!

  • I don't know a whole lot about homeschooling, but there is this boy in my spanish I class that is a little awkwardd. He never raises his hand, and when the Professor calls on him, he gets red in the face while answering, he wears the same dirty shorts everyday, and he doesn't like to talk to anyone, and when he has to do a group thing, he always gets embarrased to talk to someone, he;s just so awkward. Did I mention this is college?? He doesn't know what it's like to be in a regular classroom.

  • That probably isn't a product of homeschooling. I don't know for sure but my guess would be that he has some other disorder that probably would have been just as bad if not worse had he gone to public school. As someone who has done both, homeschooling really dose not impeade social skills. Kids have friends anyway which deveops social skills and many homeschoolers are invovled in programs with other homeschooling families that mimicks the whole "school/classroom" feel.

  • @Pam4Rob That's a TINY percent of homeschoolers. :] Most of us blend in perfectly. In fact, a lot of us take college classes while in 10 and 11th grade. [I do.] The kid was probably just shy, just like anyone--who schools at home or in a public school-- can be.

  • @Pam4Rob Life isn't lived in a classroom for one.

Also the government sponsored institutions, public school system, have dumbed down Americans they teach and that is their WRITTEN GOAL. You should look into it.

Also taxes we all pay go to public schools, home schooled children used to get their money in credit for supplies etc. the government took that away. Fair? No way give home schoolers their credits back!

  • What are you talking about PokeLeCornu?

  • I am having my language arts students write SPOOFS using the lyrics from The Addams Family. I am going to use this video as an example. Thanks for doing the work for me!!!

  • Oh - I get it... tis what they DREAM their families will be.

The homeschooler next door's life came crashing down last week as his middle child was arrested for killing someone... oldest for criminal trespass, posession & contributing... and 2nd oldest for lying to cover for the 3rd.

Ah... and the parents still think they did no wrong... and all three boys keep lying about the crimes... even tho forensics prove them liars.

The ignorant & arrogant creating bunches of copies of themselvesIMHO

  • OK, that was hilarious. I loved it.

  • Some people might not understand that this is a parody of stereotypes of homeschoolers--either they don't notice "spoof" in the title of this particular version of the video, or they don't understand what "spoof" means. What's funny is that the homeschooling father who made this video has only four kids himself, so he must have recruited some of his kids' friends for the filming. Pretty well done video, too.

  • its a joke get over it

  • I'm homeschooled, and a Christain, and I think this is really funny! Our whole fam is home teached (lol) and we always make fun of it -- but we love! We're not totally like the movie but we know alot of (sorta) friends we are! Homie the homeschooler on utube is funny too check that out!

    Great vid!

  • This is embarrassing.

I regret that this was ever created. People who see this and don't know what home schooling really is will always think this is normal. Have a bunch of kids, never leave your house, think you're always better than everyone else, if you're not Christain then you can rot in hell...all of that crap.

I've been home schooled for ten years (and I'm Christian) and I've interacted with tons of other kids. This family is one of the exceptions.

    Way to promote misconceptions.

  • Dude, it was a joke. I'm homeschooled too and I thought this was hilarious.

  • Duh, except not everyone knows that. Think of the people who aren't homeschooled. They see this and think, "Oh, since home schoolers are saying and doing all these things, I guess it must be true." The video implies that the stereotypes, like not being socialized or being anti-other-religion, apply to all home schoolers.

The people who made this obviously didn't think about how this would come across to people who are not home schooled and don't know that not everyone is like this.

  • I'm not homeschooled and I know it's meant to be a joke. So don't use me as a way to get your point across, because your not saying what most people think.

  • It's to the theme song of the Addams' family, okay? If someone actually took that seriously, they're an idiot anyway. Anyone with eyes can see that this is a spoof. Don't take things so seriously.

  • BlackCat: Great that you understand it's a joke, but you're not everyone.

Tomatowolf: I just think it was a bad idea to begin with. People are always trying to find reasons why home schoolers are not as good as other students. They'll take anything they can get to prove their point, even if it's obvious it's a joke. Of course it's a funny thing to send to friends and family, but having it circulate all over the internet was dumb. There are plenty of others who would agree with me. Sorry.

  • I've come across no one like that before, but for those that don't know what homeschooling really is like, they ask questions. That's your opportunity and blessing to explain to them what homeschooling really is. If you come across discrimination, you should use that opportunity to make something good out of it.

  • For someone who is dead set against stereotyping, you're pretty narrow-minded yourself. I'm not home-schooled and don't know anyone who is, but I still know this is a spoof! && I've never met anyone, either out of, or in a school, who thinks home-schooled children are lesser than them. It's because of people like you that discriminatory attitudes still exist, if you're convinced that everyone thinks in a certain way, then people will!

  • homeschool still sucks. lol! and you wanna know why some many kids that are homeschooled are related to each other?? Cuz they're all dorks! XD and I am homschooled! by force. :\

  • Okay, I agree that being homeschooled stinks...

But gladly, my sister and I are the only homeschooled students in THIS family.

I mean... If we were a family of.. *counts* 8-no 10- no... Um... Anyways, if we were a family of whatever, then I'd sign a contract that would allow me to have "DORK. KICK ME." on the back of my head.

  • Oh, I didnt mean to make a dork sound like a bad thing. I mean, ive made some really good friends being homeschooled. I'm a dork as well, though i have only two siblings. lol! Sorry bout that. Dorks are awesome! Alot of my friends are dorky. But, we rock! :] lol

  • haha i love this. i used to be homeschooled... so.. . :P

  • I have homeschooled my dear children for over 15 yrs now. I do not think it is "sad" that some homeschoolers are like this one. I think it is GREAT. One person up above said "HM kids that really have some serious emotional issues." In my 15 years in the homeschool community I have met very, very few with problems like that. Most are the poor PS kids.

  • *lol* very cute :) Of course, it's funnier for the homeschoolers! (Showed it my public schooled friends and they thought it was all true... and that shows the public school education...)

  • Just want everyone to know, not all homeschoolers ban the teaching of evolution in favor of creationism :p

    Cute video though

  • I like it. Of course, it shows homeschoolers as a bit more sheltered than they usually are, but OK. ;)

  • I wish that I could home school... but I didn't get everything in school and I dont think they would benefit! So I just Tutor them

  • nagaempress: but...if you're tutoring them, obviously you have something to offer...and if this helps, there are TONS of curriculum out there that are enormously self-teaching. also there's the option of trading off teaching courses if one was say, in a homeschool co-op. I didn't mean this in a mean way at all just as a little encouragement not to give up if you really want to homeschool =]]

  • Thanks for the encouragement. Since I wrote this we decited that we are going to do it. I really feel it would be best. I am just worried that the kids are going to miss school. My oldest is 7 and the middle is 4 and loves preschool. Baby would not know the difference. :)

  • Great video!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are a homeschooling family from Australia!!

  • I have nothing against Home Schooling except when psycho parents are doing the teaching.

I have met lots of well balanced HM kids and lots of HM kids that really have some serious emotional issues.

  • LQTM... as if there weren't loads of off-balanced public- and private-schooled kids.

  • you get that lots of people pull there kids out of school becuz of there social problems and anyway there are co-ops and dance places for them to makes friends

  • haha! omg thats hillarious! whats wrong with having a big family and being smart?

  • What a great video, You guys have a Beautiful Family!!!

    Blessedmamaof7

  • Isn't it awesome that we live in a country that allows us to exercise freedom and liberty to choose for ourselves about educating our children? The day after attending a pro marriage rally on the mall, I stood next to the war memorial in Washington D.C. while angry anti-war deomonstrators chanted all around me. It dawned on me that no matter what side you're on, in America, you get to choose. It is called FREEDOM AND LIBERTY..What have you done with yours?

  • are those all your kids?

    love the video I'm homeshooled

Theres 1 mom 1 dad 8 kids in my family..

    Great video

    -Cate

  • This is truly excellent. We homeschooled the twins and they experienced a lot of what you spoofed about. At the same time they really succeeded when they started attending public school. They were actually ahead of the others in their age group and it showed.

  • I love this video! :D Cute spoof.

  • im guessing youre not homeschooled. lol

  • I'm sorry if my comments seem a bit harsh, it's just that I have a very close friend who was home schooled growing up. during that time I tried my best to respect their lifestyle choice and I tried to see the positive aspects of it, but the more I thought about it the more I saw the glaring faults which existed in the Homeschooling philosophy. The pros simply did not outweigh the cons for me.

  • @doIOIob Excuse me sir, I'm not homeschooled any more, but I used to be, THIS VIDEO IS SUPPOSED to be a joke, if you can't figure that out than I think YOU might be crippled socially jk.

  • @GoPatriots100 I understand that the video was supposed to be humorous. It just bothers me that they say the children are excelling but then they turn around and say that they deliberate deny them knowledge about some of the most fundamental principles of biology. How can they honestly say that they compensate for their lack of social development with a better education when they are clearly not being exposed to one of the major pillars of one of the most practical and applicable sciences?

  • @doIOIob We're not socially crippled. And our parents DON'T keep us from public school for religious reasons. Some might, but most don't.

I've been homeschooled for 12 years and my parents can afford to send me to a great private school, I'm given the choice every year. But I choose to remain homeschooled because I think it gives me a more flexible and advanced education. :]

  • Comment removed

  • @doIOIob Yeah - because Public Schools are so awesome:

Look for John Stossels "Stupid in America" on Youtube.

  • I used to be homeschooled before I moved to Boston.

It's true, some people are actually like this and it's very disturbing.

  • yeah we have some like that in our group

  • i'm homeschooled and we have 7 kids and we aren't as extreme as this family but still it's still pretty funny. :)

  • LOL! I'm homeschooled, and think this is totally awesome because it makes fun of all the stereotypes. We're not like that. Seriously. :D I love when they zoom in on the dad... GEEK! LOL. This went around our homeschool email group a while back and I love it as much now as I did then. This is pure win!

    -Luna-

  • Hi pianoboy, your video are getting a lot of views! Congratulations!

  • Oh, wow. This is sad...

    but funny in bits

    =p

  • The academic part was accurate. :o)

  • Lol, Geek! LOL!!!!!

  • funny video!!!!

  • I have a large family (7 kids) and don't homeschool, but I know oodle who do. This spoof is off the cuff and hilarious!

  • I looooooove it!!!

Homeschooling *and* large families are awesome :)

  • Awesome video!

Since our family has homeschooled (beginning in 1985), we've met the most creative, intelligent, virtuous people in the homeschool community. It has been a great blessing that we would not have otherwise known.

Thanks for making this video and being "true to form."

  • Some of those commenting do not get the humor; nor do they completely understand the term "spoof."

Let me help them by spelling-it-out ... the producer(s) of this video, it seems to me, are/is poking fun at the homeschooler stereo-types; mixing some truth with absurd exaggeration (if you went to public school, like I did, it might be difficult to glean the nuisance).

  • Thanks for explaining.I did not get the humour totally. We hardly hear of homescholing in Europe. Even religious people preffer to take their children to christian, catholic, muslim, jew or public schools instead teaching at home. It also seems easier to talk openly about religion in Europe than USA. Most(non)christians don't get offended or offend others because of believing or not in creationism or evolution. We apply democracy being free to think and express our opinions either way.

  • u have very long comments

  • I didn't realize then this was not the meaning of this video presentation.

    Sorry.Bye now.

  • Did you make this yourself? (pianoboypiano)

  • I think this is very funny. I am homeschooled, but I certainly don't dress like that. I am just like any other human on this earth with the exception of my actions. :)

  • Pretty good and mostly accurate--I'm the second of 5 homeschooled kids. :-)

  • Good for you for being such a good corrector. I should use a dicionary but it takes too long looking things up. I gave my opinion on the matter but it seems You don't want or like to hear different views. English is your mother language not mine so I think it is worse for you to spell wrong than for me being born and living in a non English speaking country. I've learned English at school as a second language. Thought you should know...Do you know any other languages besides English?

  • I'm sorry to offend you. And I don't not like to hear different views. I'm am current learning French since i am French.

  • Evolution is a complex matter. To put it like a bunch of crap is too simple and denying centuries of serious investigation of facts by cientists starting with the great old Greek savants. Biologie can be as difficult to teach or understand as mathematics needing qualified teachers. One can choose of course to believe in God but not closing his eyes for what science has done. When we are sick we go to hospitals and take medicins and we ride cars not only horses. This is also part of evolution.

  • Spelling hasn't seemed to evolve though.

  • I wish I had said this. ;) perfection.

  • Are you saying that you don't believe in God?

  • I've said nothing about believing or not believing. I just wrote about speaking different languages etc.

  • OK, because I didn't quite understand what you were saying to him. LOL! It sounded like you're more into evolution than into believing in Creation.

  • I understand your concern assuming pianoboy might be a child and you his mom? I didn't realize that. My first comment was directed to someone who said evolution was just crap. I said it was too simple to put it that way.Biology, mathematics,French or English literature etc need qualified teachers to learn it correctly.Teaching or learning about it says nothing about believing or not in evolution or creation. My second comment was to explain why my spelling was not correct. Hope it's clearer now.

  • Strange...I think the person who called evaluation crap was just agreeing with the video. He doesn't believe in evaluation. He wasn't frustrated by trying to understand it. He was probably offended by how evaluation doesn't believe that God created everything.

  • awesome...LOL

  • home schooling is the best education you could ever give your children. i might do it, ive heard and researched great response.

  • DARWIN PWNS!

  • Come back to watch this video again. Cool video! And it's fun to watch!

  • i'm homeschooled, and this doesn't offend me.

i actually think its quite funny :)

  • Nice! a real gem of a video!

  • I love it! It's so funny! LOL!

  • i dont get why everyone thinks that big families are always homeschooled.

  • Because they often are, lol.

Oldest of eight children... all homeschooled.

    Vid was cute.

  • there are 12 kinds in my family and we all got public schools

  • sorry about the spellin lol.

    kids**

    go to**

  • I am homeschooled, and this is not offensive.

  • Well you'll find out when you die! - "OOOHHH, He does exist!" HA HA HA HA

Plus I don't believe in predestination but God did create the world and you and everything else.

  • I can just go off know reading the paper I wrote about the origin of life for Biology.... but I won't. THere is plenty of proof in the bible and in the world around us that God is real! Geez, you people are really hard-headed

  • what grade are you in?

  • me? just finishing 9th

  • me too

  • are you doing apologia science with J.L Wile(the author)?

  • Proof from the bible, the most widely read work of fiction in the world? Pu-LEEZE! As for proof of God in the world around us, name two.

  • i think that the world we live in is proof enouhg. how can something as balanced and unique just come from chance?

  • I guess we will never know until we die and when that happens, we can't tell anyone. I believe there is God. You don't. I figured out it doesn't matter arguing. it won't make a difference.

  • A cute play on stereotypes. Homeschoolers are a diverse bunch of folks. We've only met one family like this.

It's ironic that some people make statements like, "Homeschoolers are in for a big surprise when they discover the real world".

School is not the real world. It's an artificial environment designed to institutionalize children until they're old enough to enter the workforce.

We homeschool -- not because we want to shelter our kids, but because we want to make their worlds BIGGER.

  • THANK YOU!!!!!

    Finally someone understands. MY GOD!!!

  • I KNOW

  • amen

  • thank you

  • THEY LIVE IN THE WOODS LOL

  • How dare you cross out evolution like that...its wrong.. not my fault homeschool kids can't think for themselves...

  • lol, this made my day... and yeah like some other ppl sed not all homeschoolers r like that i know im not

  • that was very well done. totally the cliche homeschool family. omg the giant car LOL

  • ffffff

  • I am homeschooled and my friend in public school says that we are alot smarter than every one at that school.

  • ROFL!! this is so great! my homeschooling experience was NOTHING like this but some of my friends have big families like this. That was priceless, kudos to whoever made that. makes me laugh... lol

  • LMFAO LMFAO LMFAO.

i love how much this makes fun of homeschooling

when it is supposed to be promoting it. hahahaha

i feel sorry for the poor little homeschooled kids who miss out on the concepts of reality. ahahahahahahaha

  • They're not promoting homeschooling. they're making fun of it like you are. and i dont mind much except that

    1. im homeschooled and im not like this, at all

    2. you are saying that all homeschoolers are like this,

    3. i know homeschoolers that are like this and they're really nice,

    4. homeschoolers get together every wednesday for clesses and we also do plays and such. Im in a play right now called, "slightly updated aesop fables" and it is really funny, im going to be a lion from the lion and

  • the mouse.

  • Where do you go on wednesday?

  • A ha ha um, you soooo have the wrong idea about homeschooling. I am homeschooled, and sooo not like this. I go to classes every tuesday, i go to church and have good friends there that are both homeschooled and not and one of my best friends ISNT homeschooled and wishes she is. My other bestie is homeschooled but went to public school till 7th grade i think. She is homeschooled now for a few diff. reasons that I will not mention. PLUS the guy that wrote the ERAGON books was homeschooled and grad

  • uated highschool really early. Have I proved my point?

  • what concepts of reality do we miss out on?

  • lol that was cool

  • you may find that a lot of homeschoolers dont actually take most of their classes at home - including me. ;)

  • i homescholled we never go to hooters lol

  • i forgot to mention, im homeschooled.

  • most of my friends are homeschooled. they have big white vans and more than 5 brothers and sisters. i have only 1 brother, but we still ride in a big white suburban truck.

  • my friend is home schooled

  • is he like the kids on the video? lol

  • the choir isnt doing this video

  • haha

  • Very funny, and interesting! You are home schooled? Wow! Do you take piano lessons at home, too?

  • no, i go to another house.

  • Enjoy
