  • I bet some dude stole the code and somewhere in japan there is a angry ex sega employee with the lost codes lolz

  • @gqunit69 Rumor has it that someone at Team Andromeda purposely "lost" the code because there were bad relations between them and what was going on with upper management at Sega during this time period. Whatever the true story is, the original source code is gone making any future version impossible.

  • THEY LOST THE CODE FOR PDS SAGA THE GREATEST GAME EVER

YET THEY KEPT THE CODE FOR SONIC 3D BLAST?????!?!?!??!?!?!

    CMON SEGA

PUT THIS 1 ON THE VC OR PSN STORE U BUNCH OF CHICKY BASTARDS

  • this is my favorite game ever

    that and MM2 ,OOt, CT

but out of these games PDS saga never got a sequel

  • @ajmetz82 Ultimately I think it really depends on where people stand in relation to their Saturn. Anyone lookin for the defacto RPG on the Saturn should certainly check this out, but that $200 question is really relavant to those that don't want to mod their system.

  • It was an amazing gaming experience. This *IS* the Saturn's killer app, and therefore, I believe everyone with a Saturn needs to experience this title. Admittedly, I bought mine when it was first released, at £39.99, so never had the "Is it worth $200?" question to consider. But even still, I reckon it's worth it. That said, price needn't be an issue when many Saturns are chipped, and ROMs available online - although the very suggestion does make me feel dirty - the truth is you NEED this game.

  • Man, I want this game so bad. It's one of the classics that I never got to experience, but I'd love to. I think what's worse is the possibility that the game may be "lost" to modern gamers, because we won't have it on digital distribution services.

  • @megamanxCOE It'll likely remain a rare game for all time unless Sega is ever able to find the original source code somewhere, which is looking less and less likely as time goes by.

  • The original source code was lost? That's such a shame. I'm surprised that no system thus far has opted for Saturn emulation. That alone would solve the problem. If Sega still has the original disc lying around that is...

  • @AFMSB Yeah sadly I think Panzer Dragoon Saga will be lost in time forever. Sega was nice enough to add the original Panzer Dragoon as an unlockable in Orta, but I believe that is as far as the company will ever go. That means this game will remain in obscurity forever, which is really sad.

  • If I played this at '98, I would be blown away. It would've had the nostalgic value of big guns like FFVII. It looks like a really impressive package. Graphics are quite good and the Japanese voice acting is quite extensive. I like the turn-based/real-time hybrid of the battle system. If this was ported or remade today, I would definitely play it. It's definitely not worth 500$ today.

  • @AFMSB Sadly I don't think that will ever happen. It remains a highly influential RPG to all those that played it just because of how unique the battle system was. Most RPGs were still extremely traditional back in '98 and PDS did something really different.

  • that price point is pretty daunting

oh well, it still looks like a prolific titel

best RPG ever made is still a debatable title though lol

  • @HeWhoEnjoysTehVids Yeah I personally wouldn't consider this to be the best RPG of all time, but it is indeed a fun game to play regardless of how it looks. The main problem is that asking price.

  • For some reason, this won\t let me reply to randygelion so I have to post it here. I still think that youre best find is Earthbound randy, since you have a perfect mint copy of a game that sells for 300-400$ on ebay.

  • @tendresseak27 That is indeed excellent, if he purchased it years ago and kept it then heck yes that's awesome. That is the one game I'm pretty sure I don't have on the SNES, but I've never been able to verify that.

  • After watching this video, I can safely say that I don't have much interest anymore in this game. While it does look like something I would have enjoyed in 1998, I doubt I would have any fun with it today as the combat system looks pretty boring. From what I saw anyway. Of course I could be totally wrong and this could turn out to be be my favourite game of all time, but for over 200$, I don't think I'm missing much by skipping on this.

  • @tendresseak27 I tried to show you how you morph the dragon, a special attack or two and the regular attacks. Sure it gets a little more involved later on, but for the most part this is what is offered.

  • @tendresseak27 What are your tastes? For me, the game wasn't the immediate fun factor that Steep Slope Sliders was, but it was such an incredible experience - through the plot, and the stunning graphics in later levels - and something happens at the very end of the game that blows your mind, etc...I just reckon everyone should play through this game at least once. You are missing something amazing by skipping this. But you're saving 200$ of course, ^_^.

  • @ajmetz82 You might want to check out my channel for my tastes in games. I like pretty much every genre from platformers, fighters to rpgs and first person shooters.

  • @tendresseak27 If story, cinematics, and amazing Saturn graphics do it for you - definitely get this. If you want instant fun instead of an amazing experience, there are better games. But definitely, as an experience, CVG were totally justified in their 5/5 score, and this remains one of the few games I've ever played that have blown me away, or that the experience has been truly memorable. Not immediately fun like Bomberman, or Steep Slope Sliders, but - wow - what an experience!

  • @ajmetz82 But you're probably nostalgic here. I'm not saying that this game is not amazing, it probably is. " and amazing Saturn graphics do it for you - definitely get this." I can appreciate the fact that this game looked good on the saturn, but this ain't 1998 no more. Definitly not into retro games for there looks. From this video, I don't think this game is for me simply because the battle system seems like something I would not find fun.

  • @tendresseak27 I completed it three times - twice back in the day - once normal, once obtaining EXCELLENT on *every* Monster, ^_^, XD. Then completed it again when I lost my save game.... =/. Graphics - in particular - the variety of water effects still impress in my opinion. This video appears mainly based on disc 1...graphics get better across discs 2, 3, and 4...still blows my mind to think my Saturn is pulling some of this stuff off. Obv I'm a biased Saturn fan though, ;-).

  • @ajmetz82 Indeed the video was comprised only from the first disc as I always try very careful not to spoil anything for those who are looking to try the game out.

  • @tendresseak27 I only got into RPGs via Zelda on NES & SNES, so, for example, I find moving all the characters and selecting stuff from menus in games like Mysteria tedious, =P. Love Dark Savior [battles like Street Fighter!] and Panzer Dragoon [free to move around, and can shoot as the bars charge, etc]...but mostly you play because the plot and the cinematic FMV rewards, ^_^. But flying everywhere is pure joy, and the on foot bits graphically outperform N64's simplistic Mario 64

  • I bought my Paner Dragoon Saga complete and mint for $150 with shipping about two years ago.

Not bad right? I seen other mint copies sell for 200-240.00...still it's one of the games I spent the most on.

  • @randygelion Yeah that's a very good deal. Like I said in the video, I spent around $100 on it the day it actually was released because NO ONE was carrying Saturn goods at that time. Very fun game though, even after all these years. What other rare games have you picked up that cost you a decent amount of cash? Better yet, which ones did you score for cheap?

  • @ProjectCOE I found a JVC Xeye at the arc (like goodwill) for 10.00, I found a copy of Zelda Twilight Princess for Game Cube for a buck, Mario Party 3 for 2 bucks, Xenogears PS1 black label for 5.00, A Sega Master System Converter for 5.00, Sega Saturn for 7.50, a clear blue N64 for 7.50, Silent Hill black label for 5.00, that's all I can think of...most of them were found at pawn shops and the brokers had no idea what they were.

    What is your best find?

  • @randygelion To be perfectly honest with you, not much man. I'm lucky to have lived through most of this stuff so I picked it up as I went. I loved experiencing most of it as it happened, but looking back now I must have spent a fortune on all this stuff. Those are incredible finds, truly. Be on the lookout for Snatcher and titles like that because they go for insane amounts on eBay and if you ever find them for $100 or under, grab it!

  • @ProjectCOE Same here, but yeah those older games are getting expensive. Makes me wish I never traded my collection to the demons of Game Stop and Game Force.

At least I bought my games back.

  • @randygelion I was SO close to selling off my stuff several years ago and I am SO thankful I didn't do that. If I did I'd have really regretted it today.
