Are you referring to the disagreement between Craig Bartlett and Nickelodeon? Yeah, they really did end it over that. :/ Bartlett had a show he was working on on Cartoon Network but Nickelodeon wanted him to work exclusively with them. He wanted to do both Hey Arnold and the other show but they wouldn't let him.

The show ended on a cliffhanger actually because it was canceled prematurely. The Hey Arnold Movie didn't do well in the box offices plus Nickelodeon and Craig Bartlett had a pretty big disagreement so that led to the show being canceled before we found out officially if they get together. We were supposed to find out alot of things, that and whether or not Arnold find his parents in "The Jungle Movie" but they never finished making that either.

It didn't actually...not really anyway. The show was canceled before it had a real resolution and it still remains an unfinished show. The last episode they produced was 'The Journal.'
