or the fact that captain throttle got too much smoke in his eyes and couldnt see as nothing happened to the steering and neither wheels locked up!! classic.
I worked on a Ford tractor, and the steering is completely hydraulic. Lose fluid or pressure and you have no steering at all. Not a good place to push it, and he should have been doing better maintenance too.
Tractors steer as much by the larger rear tires as the front. Some tractors even have separate brakes for each rear tire (left or right) to facilitate steering. In this case, he was accelerating, which caused the front tires to lose traction. At that point, tractor went where the rear tires were heading. The left tire, still on pavement, had better traction, causing tractor to turn slightly towards trees. Braking was too late to prevent the resulting crash.
im seeing a lot of things saying he was drunk, but if you look close, to me it looks like he is trying to steer to the left, and i would admit it, idk if any one else would but the independent braking isnt in my mind at all times, i would probably forget about it in this situation, and i always keep the independent brake thing hooked together (john deere) so i would probably end up with the same thing.
@stayonthefarm that and or he hit the brakes, and if they werelocked together they failed or he just hit the right one, oye. that sucked for him tho. kinda feel bad for liking this. but damn this shows how fast a run can turn from good to bad
Tractors have independent brakes on the rear wheels. If he panicked and stepped on the RIGHT brake, this would have driven the tractor to his right, plowing into the tree. In this case, the front wheels will not overcome the turning force generated by the large rear tires. Another possibility is a leaking seal on the rear right axle. If fluid floods the brake shoes, a slight tap of the brake will seize the wheel and it will not release until the wheel has stopped turning. I don't see a lockup.
@pupleon Have you ever driven a tractor? I own one. When I say he had a problem with the RIGHT brake, I mean from HIS perspective in the drivers seat. But if you're watching a video, and never have driven a tractor in your life, you would be telling me he had trouble with the left wheel. Now who's got their facts backwards?
we only have 125 acres, not a lot, but have over 250 breeding sows, which means that there is over 3000 pigs on site at any given time, we also have a lot of poultry, 250,000 chickens, they produce over 14000 eggs a day.
the tractor didnt have any problem with the brakes, the drag link from the steering box came off leaving him with no steering whatsoever, he hit the brakes quickly and missed the right pedal as they wern't latched together, hence only the left locking up
@pupleon Well your answer certainly proves you have never driven a tractor, even with all the livestock you claim to own. With properly working rear brakes on that tractor, the front wheels could have fallen off completely and the direction of the machine could still be controlled by the independent brake system on the rear wheels. I think the driver was drunk... he was drifting off the road onto the grass a long way before hitting the tree.
@k0rc look at the time scale from the moment the steering was lost, the left brake clearly locks the rear wheel, it does not have enough TIME/DISTANCE to steer the tractor, with regards tractor driving, do you know how much slurry 3000 pigs produce? or every year how much chicken shit has to be spread??
@pupleon We're talking about driving a tractor, not raising farm animals. Keep on topic. So when YOU are hauling the manure spreader out to the field and you're going 25 kph... which direction does your tractor head when you slam on the left rear brake?
@k0rc now thats a good one, with 6 tonne on the back wheels there is a bit more effort there! of course its going to turn left but the tractor in the above video has very little weight on the rear so its easy to lock up one wheel at 19mph and all that will happen is that, if its going slower then it will turn, i like our conversations!
