I was at this freaking game and in the last 5 minutes my dad says, "They can't score with 5 minutes left..." we left... they won... I hate Colorado now...
Stewart with time... lets it go! He's got three people down there! The ball's up in THE AIR... CAUGHT! TOUCHDOWN! CAUGHT BY WESTBROOK FOR A TOUCHDOWN! INCREDIBLE!
I still can't stand watching this play...I remember the day. I was pissed because the game wasn't on where I lived (Oregon), but I was glued to the tv watching the updates during whatever crappy game was on...I remember it flashed 26-21 with 5 seconds to play and then switched to 27-26 FINAL. I was so pissed, and then they put on the replay and I almost died at age 12. I still can't stand to hear the names Kordell Stewart or MIchael Westbrook.
Yeah, Gore "beat" Bush the same way Michigan "beat" Colorado. :-) Didn't seal the deal at the end. A little more campaigning in Florida and he would've had it. hahahahaha
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
On the EXACT SAME DAY the University of Washington Huskies went to Florida and ended Miami's record home winning streak, 38 - 20, and all people want to talk about is this LUCKY pass that beat Miss-again in "The Big House." F*ck Colorado, f*ck Michigan, f*ck Kordell Stewart, f*ck Michael Westbrook, and f*ck anybody who rates this LUCKY win by Colorado over Michigan over the Huskies' HISTORIC win over the 'canes on the same day. Jackasses.
*Sigh* A friend of mine was at this game and had end zone seats right in front of the play. This is one of those plays that makes me throw up in my mouth. The other is when Larry Bird stole the inbound and scored in game 5 of the '87 Eastern Conference Finals...
Rae Carruth. Yeah, he was my favorite player in the mid-90s because I used to always play Madden as the Carolina Panthers, and he would always dominate with the one play I'd call all the time.
My brother actually has a picture with him from CU Media Day.
The most amazing part of the whole thing was the fact that Stewart, for all his bad areas, heaved that fucker 75 yards. That's chucking the rock...even as much as the media loves to nut hug Tom Brady they have to admit he couldn't heave the ball that far against the Giants on 3rd down when Moss had a step on everyone in the Super Bowl. The throw is ALWAYS overlooked. Hell, Flutie only had to throw his about 55 yards and even still he looked like a retard fucking a door knob.
And Flutie released his from the 37-38 and the ball was caught about a yard inside the end zone... so it was about 63-64 yards... Kordell threw his from the 27 and the ball was tipped at about the 2, so it went 70...
The most amazing thing about this play is that it cost Penn State the national championship! Later in the year, Nebraska pasted Penn State in the polls because they beat an undefeated Colorado team in Boulder. Had Michigan won this game, Penn State would have beaten an undefeated Michigan in Ann Arbor. Had that happened, no way Nebraska would have past Penn State in the polls. Just some food for thought.
And because of the miracle play against Mizzu in 1997, where the ball is kicked up in the endzone and caught by the Nebraska WR for the TD to win the game, both Neb and Mich went undefeated and won the co-title instead of a consensus champion. But we wouldnt even have this talk if NCAA went to a playoff like every other sport in the country.
Actually, the clincher was a "close game" against Indiana, where Penn State got out to a 35-14 lead, put in the backups, and it got to 35-29, with Indiana's last 8 points coming as time expired. What people forget is that Indiana team was led by Trent Green and could have probably went 10-2 or better had they played in another conference. But I'll agree that it cost them an outright claim to the NC, since the week before they dropped in the AP poll after "only" beating a good Ohio State 63-14.
i remember seeing this on tv, now if you ask me if id ever watch a college football game id say hell no i hate college sports. By the way Amani Toomer was in this game, go giants! but still a great game nonetheless
Rodriguez is a decent recruiter I guess. He will get alot more 4 and 5 star prospects though due to the name of the school. Michigan>West Virginia easy.
Hawkins sure has done a great job with recruiting, no doubt. And, IMHO, although getting out-of-state studs is very important, what is even more important for Colorado to keep staying good is to do very well recruiting in-state players almost every year. Although Colorado doesn't produce as many players as California, Pennsylvania, Texas, Ohio, and Florida, Colorado High School Football is somewhat underrated. Who agrees?
This was the beginning of the end for Gary Moeller as Michigan coach. He did a very poor job of clock management in the final minutes. CU never should have gotten the ball.
Keith Jackson is a PAC-10 homer who should have retired ages ago. That grumpy old man has ruined every broadcast he's been on since 1980. Listen to those old ND/USC games - he's hatred for Parsegian and Holtz seeps into every syllable he utters.
I don't know what you're talking about. He broadcasted many Michigan and Big Ten games, and I'd say by far he was the best, and I have seen no one better for us.
That is a stupid comment. The reason that Jackson only called Pac-10 games on the west coast in his final years before he retired was that he wanted to stay close to his home in British Columbia, which is also on the west coast (courtesy of Wikipedia, search Keith Jackson, see Retirement section). For you to say that the greatest football announcer of all time is a "Pac-10 homer" is just downright immoral and disrespectful.
My 2 favorite NCAA teams right there, I guess one of them had to win. Can't wait for the '08 NCAA season, Michigan 8-4 and Colorado 10-2 Big XII Champions.
They arn't as bad as you think n5cobel, as a Colorado fan sitting in every home game, there was 4 games this year they lost in the final minutes of the game (IE Georgia)If they could have made those big plays they would have been 6-6 (which isn't bad for a coaches first year) but the plays never happened.
To the Michigan fans: I can understand why you'd hate this clip, but remember, Keith Jackson was also there to call the Desmond Howard punt return, no?

A slight correction, LSTennisMan. Nebraska beat CU in Lincoln, not Boulder, that year 24-7. That was the Buffs only loss that season.

This was just the middle of all the horrible things that happened to UM the last 15 years, here a timeline for football AND basketball:
3/90 B-ball gives up record 149 points against LMU
4/93 Webber Timeout
9/94 CU Hail Mary
11/02 B-ball banned from postseason; 92 and 93 final fours vacated
3/99 first losing season in b-ball in 17 years
11/06 Schembechler dies
9/07 loss to Appalachian State (1st 1-AA to beat top 25)
It boggles the mind that all this took place at one school.
