  • The Jsets are fine as a motherfucker!!!

  • wow JSU band wouldnt even claim you fans cause 85% of the band enjoyed MSU show that year and MSU enjoyed their music cause its the best of both worlds..... tragic when blacks want to down bands just cause they played bluegrass.... and yes i'm black

  • Lmao was I da only one who notice MSU got scared in banged bck!?

  • I'm just ashamed that there are black people in the msu band!!!:( But JSU did y'all thing...i would've loved to see those msu faces...LMAO!!

  • I LOVE MY COLLEGE HOME...JSU!!!!!!!

  • JSU don't hurt 'em!

  • see when HBCU bands get on the field people sit and enjoy the show but when the corp style bands get on the field them consession stands are makin MONEY!!! lmao i bet when JSU got on the field the consession stand workers were like "please JSU stay on the field" lol

  • Wow that intro when they started marching JSU fan future college band scholarship all day...saxophone/trumpet whatever they need me on..

  • I'm so glad I went to JSU! Do it BOOM!!!

  • J-S-U... did that....i'm glad i went to JSU....

  • The big difference is Show band vs Competition band. While show bands are great for colleges to get the home crowd riled up, a band like JSU Sonic Boom wouldnt stand for 5 seconds against even competitive high school marching bands. Competition marching is about formation, style, control, technical difficulty, and sound. You cannot just go out there blasting away as loud as you want and facing whatever direction you are moving in. A competition band will rarely if never face away from the crowd.

  • @07BlackCobaltLS That is so true. Those competition bands are no joke.

  • @07BlackCobaltLS

Competition bands mean white and dull. Black people of da bomb. You do realize the only music worth listening to is that created by Black folks. The world imitates us and want to be like us.

  • @07BlackCobaltLS But honestly...who cares about all of that? It's boring and pointless! People want something to groove to and have fun with! Not all that boring crap!

  • @07BlackCobaltLS Alot of the students in the BOOM came from corp.style marching bands in high school, they just want to get crunk now, show style bands are much harder anyway so control, sound, and maneuvering would be more difficult with a show style band. DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 1 year ago to the day the murder of MSU

  • baton girl dropped her baton but didn't get awkard and kept going!!! Self Esteem high brah!

  • nsu thats all i have to say

  • each time i look at the video clips of "The Boom" at MSU...i have to laugh because its funny seeing and listening to the different reactions...lololol

  • I am a student at STATE which I love dearly but I grew up going to JSU's games and as usual JSU killed it as always so don't hate on JSU!SWAC'S games are all about having fun where as SEC is all about winning!A major difference!

  • Does any one have Get Ready from this game

  • we'll c yall in montgomery al at da bowl november 6th.and yall bring yall band

  • Bad Angle.....When recording you KNOW BETTER to be on the 50 yard line!!!!!!!

  • extremegun94 sounds mad..where's a VIOLIN?? lol. Just like MSU places "emphasis" on its football team, JSU places our emphasis on the band. ALWAYS have had a KILLER BAND and ALWAYS WILL have one.

  • No Mississippi State didn't feel bad after that.. obviously... football is what we are all about, not bands... only when JSU came was when the attention turned of course. The game was already one after 1st quarter.. so we sat back and enjoyed the sounds of music... Oh yeah.. fuck that blue-grass country shit MSU tried to put on while JSU was there... im a MSU fan but damn... you can't do that shit with a band like that...

  • MSU didnt do nothing til the second half takin that JSU was in a much lower division.. I was at the game soak n wet

  • lol. d-boed off dey own field. hahaha! damn cant u c move back...lol but yepp. ima senior on TRUMPET && movin on up to JSU SONIC BOOM! yayay

  • that's right mississippi state back yo ass up

  • lol they where like omg move move move lol thats shit was funny they were bout to break they neck to move

  • hahahaha I am over here cracking up because they D-Boed them off of their own field....They should have known to move anyway so they could come off the field but we're taught to move forward no matter who is in our way when performing, as you can see those Settes doing lmao!! Just like the army in battle...

  • Don't be racist you pig.

  • @trentskie be civil

  • Great show but a couple of trumpets are out of tune. BUt they killed it thought llike always.JSU!!!!

  • @DrummerALB no trumpets were out of tune.

  • SONIC BOOM!!!!!!!!

  • I bet Mississippi State felt bad after that.lol

  • THATS A 1 GUD CLEAN SHOW

  • so crisp so clean chairs inppecable GOOO BOOOOOM!!!!!

  • lmao at the guys talking while the jsettes dancing... he too funny!...but go Boom! I missed the game but I'm sure the Boom represented as usual

  • On my life they funny as hell they really enjoying theyself!!!

  • Gooooo!!!!!! BOOOM!!!!

  • i need to clear this up.. MSU did not play their halftime show during this game..they had a famous country group come play for the remaining time where the band just pitched in on the music.. JSU's band was a good different taste of flavor in starkville.. but the day was meant for football..and JSU didnt stand a chance after the coin flip.. sonic boom did rock tho..lol

  • Good clean show JSU! they represented the SWAC!!

  • i wouldn't wanna get on the field after that show...XD

  • The Battle of the Bands was awesome, but JSU did they thing here...

  • does anyone have msu? I missed this game I was sick. JSU kicked butt!!!

  • I'm uploading a video of MSU now. Check back shortly and it should be up.

  • what name did you upload it under, i really want to see what msu did after that performance!

  • GET IT J-SETTES.

  • GO JSU!!!!

  • The Famous Maroon Band got their famous arses kicked. Come on guys...bluegrass is how you follow up the Sonic Boom?

Come back anytime Bengal Tigers. That was freaking outstanding.

  • @woof07 we have a completely different style than JSU. you obviously dont understand this otherwise you would realize that how we perform is at a level much higher than the noise that JSU produces.

  • @uppychuck That's funny.. LOL LOL. Ya show was boring as hell.

  • @uppychuck It was a college football game, not an honors band recital. There are things you just don't do when your goal is to entertain, and the FMB covered most of them in one show. Give us a good jam, not dueling banjos.

  • @uppychuck of course you have a different style, but please understand JSU can sit upright in the stands and play marches as well as other technical pieces of music right along with MSU. As far as you calling it noise, well.......YOUR FANS WOULD RATHER LISTEN TO THAT NOISE THAN THAT BS MSU DID!!! You can take that to the bank BUDDY!

  • Why oh why!!! When the dancers perform the camera starts to shoot things that don't matter at that time. I wanted to see more of the J-settes. Dang!!!!

  • i loved their band! it was amazing!

  • look at that ignorant person talking nasty in that video, when the j-settes performed, what a loser and prevert!! lol job job band and j-settes you guys did really good!! good band!!

  • what did he say

  • gotta love 'em....this was a wonderful show in memory of MJ...and the J5 always show up and show out...JSU Alumni...love my BOOM....

  • they went straight in starkville

  • I was at that game!! i don't think its gonna be a game I'll ever forget.....Go SONIC BOOM!!!

  • Regardless of how anyone fells about the JSU's band or MSU's band, you have to give credit where credit is due. Both bands dominate in their respective styles. The musicianship of both bands is phenominal. I am a big fan of the BOOM and will rep them to the fulliest. But I won't take away from another band just because their style is different. The DAWGS, like the BOOM, had a phenominal performance.

  • Very well said. It's the showmanship and musicianship that counts and there are several varieties of that. I agree that both bands are excellent in their own respect. JSU is a showband, as most if not all black bands are. MSU, for some, is a traditional - classical corp style marching band that makes awesome formations. I think both band should be highly respected.

  • I must comment that JSU makes awesome formations also--they are not only a show band. Did you not notice their formations?

  • @2244242 reading some of the other comments, i'm kinda surprised someone who makes as much sense as you receives the ratings you do. hopefully, most of the ridiculous statements here weren't made by actual band members. game recognize game. appreciating corp style, luv da Boom!

  • Lmfaoo she said they gon play Flight Of The Bumble Bees

  • This was an awesome half-time show performed by the Sonic Boom of the South...very well done in memory of the "King of Pop", Micheal Jackson. Thanks to the entire music department and students of JSU's Sonic Boom of the South. Keep up the awesome work!

  • I will be at that ASU / JSU Capital City Classic game, by the way...let's see who's representin!

  • all bout da boom. msu got shut down, HBCU! put jsu in da SEC n see wat happens, jsu will kill!!!! how can u top a entertaining performance like jsu n den msu coming out on da field wit dat core style mess. who want ta hear billy ray cyrus!!!!! ask da dawg fans, dey want a band like jsu!

  • i can't wait til ASU and JSU go at it!! now thts a show 2 see!!

  • of course they kick msu ass as far as bands go

  • some peeps obviously don't know that Tavaris Jackson went to Bama State and...come on Steve Mcnair...know ya history

  • The same Tavaris Jackson that lost his spot to a 39 year old with injury problems after barely beating out Sage Rosenfels? That's something to proud of there.

  • Steve Mcnair came from Alcorn.

  • What has to be established is that this was a game to build money..... we all know how recruitment goes at those bigger schools. What is funny is that some ppl from MSU look at this game as if it is going to count towards them being SEC Champions... Sorry Ya'll it don't even count.... LOL Just know that we do what we do in the SWAC and that is Show up and give good entertainment! JSU knows this game don't even matter 4 da SWAC Championship, So y cry over something that don't matter.

  • CM666 knows nothing about sports msu a team that i like is in the sec comparing to jsu my swac team that i like now saying that sec is the grand stage for the best players bcs teams one might say other leads div 2 or what ever get the left over players so for you to call a team trash know what you are talking about and can you do what any of these players can do this game was well over due third largest crowd 1st time meeting push for a 4 year contract a lot of money spent within the state

  • Trying to read that crap you call a post made my eyes bleed, learn how to use punctuation before you post again. You'll embarrass yourself less.

  • In all actuality those bigger schools are grand stage for many sport recruiters. Because the bigger schools actually recruit for that and get good picks... Not saying that lower division schools don't but remember larger division schools have greater fundings to do bigger scouting. So they get good picks. But lower division do put out some good athletes.

  • This is a real nice camera. Lol. Despite the fact that my school got our asses handed to us, i STILL LOVE JSU! And screw anyone who thinks otherwise. lol. LMAO at the end when the band was like, "Back your ass up".... Go Tigers!

  • Damn they straight HOE'D state band at the end...

  • Depaul is another one. JSU has beat plenty of D2 and D3 schools. Every one knows that for the last 6 or 7 season JSU has started the season off slowly and not played well in the first 1 to 3 games at times. That's what happened against DSU. Plus, they were probably overlooking them looking ahead to TnSU

  • cm275 is simply an idiiot. There are players going from the SWAC and MEAC to the NFL all the time

  • I'm glad you posted this...I had to get out the rain and missed the halftime show! JSU SHUT IT DOWN, sorry MSU...I still love my DAWGS though. LOL!

  • Since MSU AND JSU has two different styles of music I don't think its fair to say any one was shut down. And for the record I REALLY LOVE MY DAWGS!!!

  • for the idiots who say MSU just collects checks in the SEC.. MSU might not always be the best in the SEC in football..but we are a top program in basketball and baseball!!.. just b/c we dont excell in football doesnt mean the school should drop out of the SEC and go to d2..where MSU would win a national championship!!.. please..their is more to the SEC than just football.. i prefer baseball anyways!!.. stupid ignorant jealous fans!!.. i even praised JSU for their fanbase and band!!..

  • But we do have very talented players that do go on and go to the next level and do very well. The last person we had go to the NFL was Jaymar Johnson and is an active wide reciever. Garbage football teams don't send their players to the NFL

  • Look BIGSEXY225 i march in the Boom and you cant tell us we need work. You stupid shit you dont understand the hours we put in for saturday or any performance. You can take ya bullshit comments and sit on em you big shit. Tell me why you have to be the only one to come on and hate, tell me wats wrong with our show and I"ll be happy to shut your mouth with the real truth. And our conference may not be as good as the top schools but that doesn't mean we are crap. Our coaching staffs arent the best

  • Whoo!! Dat damn BOOM!! How is the stadium filled with MSU fans and they cheered louder for the Boom than their own band?! Guess country music's not for everybody...lol

  • Comment removed

  • lol nice mj songs

  • lol bigsexy thats my nick name and that doesnt mean that im FAT lol ya'll so mad at the truth. IM SO damn confident in myself that why I use bigsexy oh and bout me played for grade school to undergraduate studies lol AND CAN READ MUSIC

  • I am from Starkville but in Iraq ,and i love it. This made me feel at home for 7min.

  • @saylesrd Think you for serving. Come home safe!!!

  • Too bad their team is absolute garbage.

  • Yeah, but at least their team has enough sense to play in a conference they can win. Unlike the MSU, who continue to be the whipping boy of the SEC. JSU winning percentage far exceed MSU; therefore, who is the real garbage team idiot. MSU needs to go I-AA.

  • MSU likes its SEC welfare check too much to switch conferences. I don't agree with losing just so I can get a cut of the BCS, but it's not my place to complain as I'm not a MSU fan. However, even a SEC whipping boy is light years ahead of the SWAC "champion". The entire conference is nothing but crap.

  • Does that mean that JSU and the rest of the SWAC needs to move to D2 seeing that the conference also gets a beat down by the division beneath them? They lost to Hampton last year and got embarrased by Mississippi's Delta State the year they won the SWAC championship during Delta State's rebuild year. Its not about popularity or attendence, just the truth. As far as football programs go, the SWAC is only as good as the rest of the teams in the SWAC.

  • Ahyone who knows anything about football knows the SWAC is nothing but garbage teams that focus on their bands because the on field product is so poor. They should drop football entirely and stick to Battle of Bands.

  • As a person who attended both JSU and MSU and graduated from BOTH!!! The SWAC has produced a lineage of GREAT ATHLETES, Jerry Rice, Walton Payton, Steve McNair, Leslie Frazier just to name a few. So obviiuosly, you know nothing about sports and probably just an old college DROPOUT!!! Way to go STATE and JSTATE!!!

  • The fact that the SWAC produced a small number of NFl stars years ago does not change the fact that it is a garbage conference filled with third rate crap teams. I don;t blame you for living in the past though, I would too if my team was as shitty as JSU.

  • To CM275, You are a LOST CAUSE.... that was just a few of the great players that attended a school in the SWAC conference. Have you ever been to a SWAC game before? I would gather that your just a couch potato with nothing better to do.... You probably wouldn't last 3 sec on a punt return on the field! As the "OLD SAYING" goes... opionions and A#%HOLES, everybody has one. Get a life and stop bashing the SWAC!

  • The second all-time leader rusher Walter Payton is a JSU alumna. Just in case you didn't know. Also, there was a period in the early 90's that Grambling State University produced more NFL players than ANY other school. ALL conferences go through things...

  • Jaymar Jonhson is at Minnesota Vikings graduate of Jackson State 08

  • dude u r an idiot y do u live??

  • if your team is msu, ya'll are the crap of the sec...

    And Down....

  • It's not and that title belongs to Vanderbilt.

  • Comment removed

  • jsu all the way

  • The Billie Jean bit rocked! This is better than my countrys national day parade :P

  • EITHER DO I have prove im a jstate fan I post to bash any hbcu band but if you can't tel from the clip the boom need some serious work then either u haven't play in the band are you being Naive.

  • You havent marched either i guess, if your name is BIGSEXY, guess hydroxy cut aint work either, oh i got it u sit on your BIGSEXY AZZ and talk down on bands!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!and come to a game so we can fuck you wit our plumes u overgrown HIPPO

  • lol nobody should direct there comment personally toward me probably bd are something

  • Sonic BooM!!!! ALright!!

  • Restored the Tiger Run-On? They never stopped doing. They did seem to do an older version of it at this game. I'm sure they'll bring back the strut and the longer run in later shows.

Overall the band was good. There needs to be a little more drive, but other than that they looked good. They need more energy as well.

And as for the DCI guy. Do DCI bands march without playing for 80% of thier shows cause I seem them doing it a lot in-between formations.

  • i must say that was cool as hell.

    tyrone

    USM Pride Drumline '09

(sorry alcorn, ya'll didnt bring it) lol

  • I know right!!

  • I here all the talk about the boom and I don't see all the good things folk see, im a huge fan. all I can see is that they're much bigger then recent yrs, but from this show NO ENGERGY,TERRIBLE DRILLING. LAWD the jsettes rountine was the WORST in yrs not trying to be negative but you have to call a spade a spade DAMN.

  • Outstanding job Sonic Boom! You represented Jackson State and HBCU Bands Well!! This is the sound I am accustomed to hearing from the boom! Completely energized, and good drills! If one is going to be negative, then lets be negative amonst ourselves, and not amonst everyone else!

  • Not to mention rushing and BLASTING trumpets and tubas.

  • lmao... keep loving on the boom kid!

  • And the use of the "Spade" wasn't too bright either! And you are not Boom fan either. FAMU

  • thanx for the praise... i know if i watched a truely sorry band i would not waste mytime writing anything!!

  • Shut Da HECK UP, Female DAWG

  • lol...ALRIGHT!!!!!!BOOM!!!!!!!!!!

  • Where's the marching? Do all college bands play standing still for 90% of their shows?

possibly i'm ignorant but I'd rather watch a DCI show ANY day of the week

  • Showband shows are set up different from DCI bands. JSU actually drills a lot, but they were the visiting band at a school that typically performs alone during halftime. This meant that JSU only had a small window to perform within. Most show bands have feature pieces with dancers and concert selections which is why the band was in what we call a concert formation.

  • Funny how die hard corps fan always use the same lines about the popular show style bands. This band stood for the dance line so the attention can be on them, did a drill, and danced and yet you say they stood 90% of the time. Either you are not good at math or you didn't watch and just went into stereotypes, but this band moved most of the show. If you perfer DCI then watch DCI but don't hate on this band because you have a problem with these bands being popular.

  • Yes you really are, you can eat donkey fart u racist fruitcake

  • i am a big MSU fan..i sat probably 20 rows behind this guy in the student section..i must say..the sonic boom really impressed me.. when i heard they were coming.. i'd always heard about the dancing and figured they'd take away from the music just for dance..but they really won alot of MSU faithful over.. they were classy and great for the game... it was different but i believe everyone enjoyed the sonic boom!!.. JSU fans were great.. and the atmosphere was awesome!!.. have a great season guys!

  • A very nice first performance. The sound was decent (even from this angle) and the band seems to have a RENEWED ENERGY that has been missing over the past few years. They even restored the TIGER RUN-ON! So far-SO GOOD w/o LIDDELL!!!!!

    LOVE THE BOOM!

  • Good stuff JSU. its gonna be a lil tough this year against TSU at tha classic though. I heard them not 2 long ago, and there tough!!!

  • how tough i wonder? we gone get in they asz like a thong, we can get in yours to, ready for this COCK action??????

  • Unfortunately the network did not show the halftime performance. Don't they know you can't go to break during a HBCU halftime?!!!!! MSU looking like wow- good stuff!

  • Trumpet are holding up well, but I LOVE the slightly darker sound this year! Trombones are ridiculous!!! Renardo, you having nothing but my praise! XD

  • Comment removed

  • Don't know why they Mark Timing and not facing front

  • nice show how big are they

  • Outstanding job Boom. I know MSU was like what the hell... I didnt know bands did stuff like this.. LOL.. Luv the Boom..

    SuperDave

  • I MUST SAY , JSU shocked me for sounding this good!!!! Last year, yall sounded like garbage. It may be the new band director and better musicians ( get scared upper classmen ) !!!!!!!!!!

  • Great show Boom...This is a preface to what awesome and exciting showmanship the Sonic Boom is going to put forth this season...I look forward to seeing the Boom in person for their 1st home game and performing with my fellow alums. on homecoming...LOVE THE BOOM BABY!!!

  • ay, r u that dude that twirl tha flaming stick??!!!??

  • JSU doing a homecoming band this year???

  • thanks for posting this, i was unable to watch because i was working on stuff in the press-box and i had heard alot about them this past week and was looking forward to seeing them

  • I have to comment one more time. Jackson State, yall sound so good!!! The sound is so crisp and clean. I wouldn't expect anything less from the SONIC BOOM of the SOUTH!!!

  • I am so proud of my Alma Mater......love going to all the games-especially half time shows!

  • EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE JSU! I AM SO PROUD OF YOU! Your representation of how our bands perform is what needs to be shown and demonstrated to those who either have a different marching style or may not understand how and why black bands march in the style that we do. I really believe that MSU received you very well and was welcoming to the JSU family. MSU - you have a awesome stadium and it's GREAT to see that blacks and whites can come together and have a great time!

  • Good show JSU!!! Love the boom. Drum majors get in sync, otherwise great show!

  • Ohhhhh Weeeeeee.......yall didn't have to do MSU like that!!!! LOVE DA BOOM!!!

  • Way to represent the Swac JSU.

Hot Show. and Those Jsette Dancers looked lovely. lol

    The band sounds real good.

  • Good job JSU.......

  • The Boom rocked that shit.

  • Way to represent Boom

  • Alright Jackson State!!! Very professional performance dedicated to MJ. Just wish the band dance portion had a little more. The J-settes did good too. Yall showed Mississippi State we do get down with class!!!

  • Our time was limited, MSU is only one to perform at they home games. I guess they let JSU go on and perform

  • Oh ok. Didn't know that. Thanks.

  • They sound good

  • Good job Boom. I love it when PWC and HBCU bands can be in the same spot and appreciate each others styles.
