I've been experiencing some weird temperature fluctuations in my system lately, and because of it I'm going to change from air cooling to oil.
I'm using HWmonitor now, and the readings are a little odd... CPU temperature shows as room temp plus a little more (23ºC), the CORES however show a huge difference, ranging from 40ºC for one core, while some of the cores are at 45ºC.
My case has good airflow, yet the temp readings are all over the place. Northbridge is at 75ºC during load btw.
@DeltaPhi79 ..ok Let's just say yeah need to turn down the heat in the house, ..and maybe get You'r Blood Pressure checked out Cause that can cause a tomato face Look lol just saying
@iddqd768 maybe he just took a really hot shower or someone mad him really mad or he is like me and sitting in front of a computer for 6 hours makes your face red
@electrobussterr i got an ocz vendetta 2 and arctic silver matrix on a phenom quad and it idles at 35 and most i see it running at is 48. thats just a $40 investment
stock coolers, as far as i can remember, isnt bad. probably because of the antec 900 case. make sure u have free airflow
What that video with Captions turned on (the little "CC" in the bottom right of the player)
The first sentence is: "hello toronto spnsored a man about town this next question is what's the difference between CDU temperature and CDU core temperature"
Well, there's also the dilemma with Socket 775 CPU's as far as what's the TJMax of a certain processor. Intel and their website are of little to no help to provide accurate information about this, so basically it's up to us enthusiasts and overclockers to find the processor's actual TJMax (max Core temp. in which the processors throttles back or shuts down).
With the new 1366.1156 sockets though, that's no longer a problem.
Hi Rodeny, I have to ask something: My Everest says about 50 ° C for CPU temperature and 26 ° C Core Temperature. I'm using an AMD 7750+ OC 3GHz on 1.325 Volt with an Arctic Coling Alpine 64. Now are these temps normal?
hmmm are You shure? cpu temp. is taken from motherboard (in the middle of socket under CPU). Also core temp. sensors CAN'T be placed on die core. They can be near it but... hmm 45nm sensor? how? On die are only transistors and nothing else. Hope somebody correct me if i'm wrong
just listen one's again. He says "on the cpu die" 0:35 sooo. Maybe i don't undesrtand english correctly, but as far as i know Rodney is wrong in this video. I think cpu temp. is taken from mother board, not from i.h.s. But again i'm not specialist.
Excellent video. This was something I always wondered about when I was still learning... even now, this video helps confirm what I eventually found out. Very nice Rodney, thanks!
@pcclanrocks In a case like that, it often means something on the motherboard is malfunctioning, has failed, or has a bug in the BIOS. Most quality motherboard manufactures ensure that BIOS upgrades give accurate reads.
The programs I'm talking about are native to the motherboard and are usually accompanied with a proprietary chipset specifically for that purpose. Companies like Asus have their own hardware monitoring software, and it's with those programs that will give you proper readings.
Rodney one quick question, my cpu core temps have been stuck and i believe the core censors may be stuck, how possible is this? no really a huge problem, just a little annoying and a little worried, thanks, great video
It's quite possible for sensors to get stuck, however if your CPU is kept very cool i.e. an efficient CPU under a large heatsink or something then it might not get hot enough to 'trigger' the sensors/the temp might be under the minimum value they can read.
not sure were to post q@a questions hopefully youll be able to help me out im sure lots of others are wandering also but what are the 2ethernet ports on the back of some mobos for?
HDMI can be called a "Media Display Plug" mainly for consoles and some PC's... DP is a new type of PC only plug ... the differance bieng that DP can be split into up to 4 monitors and HDMI can't...
They are pretty much the same, just competing ports... however the only difference I've ever read on is that the HDMI wired signal loses some signal strength after 15m, but not like you'll need a 15m HDMI cable anyways. Theres always adapters for Displayport to HDMI or what ever. :) Maybe theres more to it, but as far as I'm aware thats all there is to it.
haha i kneww that it would get someone, but when u do get it, the thermal paste is reaaaaaally thick so if you try and put just a rise size of that, forget it xd you need to put enough so theres a millimeter of thermal paste, no joke otherwise it doesnt spread around,
ooh ok, it got me stressed out when i saw it, it was my firt attempt to put that shit on and i was like FUCK, should have left it at the shop LOL, though it performs really well, when i had OC'ed it to 3.6 Ghz the temps were still at 40 C at max load
@TheGamesHD yea.. i intent on putting it on an AMD phenom II cpu :P and overclock to like 3.8ghz..(even though i never overclocked as im a newbie in overlocking..)
should i look out for cpu temps or core temps when overclocking?

@rampageturke Programs that are designed specifically for a particular motherboard do use BIOS information to read-out temps.

thats why HWmonitor and all other temp programs dip to about 15c idle and when i;m in bios its always around 20-25c
