It's very strange to hear actually his voice. I grew up in Belgium and the only thing we knew Rowan Atkinson from, was as Mr. Bean. And than I saw Blackadder for the first time! It's Brilliant. I even went to Britain to buy all of it. It's just hilarious

I was born in Australia but my mum's English; I can't believe they called Frank Woodleigh (sp?) one of the nation's great comics...just shows how appalling the comedy is in this country. I don't mind Mr Bean but you can only watch each episode so many times, whereas I could watch Blackadder over and over for the rest of my life. And I much prefer it to Fawlty Towers (which I do like).

I'm Australian and I have loved Black adder since I was 9. I truly enjoy English comedy and Rowan Atkinson is a comic genius. Having said that, Richard Curtus and Tony Robinson are also two of the comic greats that have helped build a legacy. I know my kids will be listening to Odysseus and enjoying black adder one day :)

If you're English, you'll probably prefer Blackadder. Bean is very popular though. In the UK Bean is considered a bit for kids, it even has it's own cartoon series. Where as Blackadder is one of the nations favourite, only rivalled by Fawlty Tower. In the top 100 sitcoms, Blackadder came a close second. Bring on Blackadder 5, but make it good (not like 'back and forth')

I'm American and I love Blackadder, and I never liked Bean quite as much, but I like it when I'm down. I've actually learned a lot of british vocabulary from Blackadder, and I was pretty surprised when I showed it to my American friend (who has a mad crush on Hugh Laurie) and she had a ton of trouble understanding what they were on about.

Though I like both Mr. Bean and Black Adder, I have leaned a little towards Black Adder. For one, I love history and comedy based on historical times and attitudes.

Black Adder is a little faster-paced than Mr. Bean. Even when I was younger and didn't "get" all of Black Adder's jokes, I liked the style and costumes of Black Adder and the looks he gave. My favorite Black Adder incarnation is Black Adder II. Queen Elizabeth is adorable, and I like Black Adder in that one the best.

It's a matter of personal opinion. Remember,

Mr. Bean is almost entirely a non-verbal character and how many non-verbal characters do you find these days that are as successful as him? Also note that he is supposed to appeal more to a family audience, whereas Blackadder isn't. I'm just saying that niether is better than the other. They are two vastly different types of comedy and Rowan Atkinson is a genius cos he can pull both of them off

It's not even a fair comparision. BlackAdder is the greatest comedy ever made, beating Fawlty Towers, Yes! Prime Minister, Monty Python, Bit of Fry and Laurie etc.

Mr. Bean is just scraping the barrel somewhere and brings up the occassional giggle.

I agree. There's nothing better than "Blackadder" and it deserves a continuation. The only comedy show which can be compared to it, is "Monty Python's Flying Circus".
