What moron compares these new no-talent "singers" to Whitney? I'm sick of them comparing her to Mariah Carey. I like Mariah, but Whitney is SOOOO much better than Mariah, especially with the music Mariah's putting out now. Whitney is the greatest and will always be! She's the best-selling female artist ever with over 200 million albums sold. Love you Whitney!
READY4REV: You said that thing and it is the sho-nuff truth. It just makes me sick to hear them compare some of these fly by night singers to WH. Singing is not just being loud it is how you touch people and communicate the lyrics to them. Now and days they say if you can scream that makes you a great singer....and it is annoying to me when people scream like that. Also what is up with all this vocal gymnastics? I think people do all these vocal stunts to compensate for a lack of vocal power.

I keep wondering whether or not I should move Stephanie Mills, into my Number #1 best Female Vocalist of all time. But..... each time a hear Whitney Houston, whether singing or just talking, I can't seem to find a way to replace her as Number #1.

Now that Jennifer Hudson 's WeightWatcher's commercial features this song, it'll probably get more hits and more people will discover how amazing Whitney was in her prime.
I think the times now is such that Whitney was from an era where people appreciated good vocals and showmanship and would pay a lot to get the albums and go for the concerts. These days, its just cheap media hence the rise of mediocre artistes.

@DDH843 back in college, 89. a friend of mine, music teacher said she was going to lose it because she was a "throat" singer rather than a "diaphragm" singer. don't know what that means , but seeems he was right. albeit, i looooove the soulful earthiness of her vocal!

Isn't it strange how you can go to videos of people with much,much,much less talent and yet their views are in the mega millions? That to me is a indication of how low down our societies standards have gone. WH is vocal perfection and yet i see people who can't even sing with 95-200 million views. It is sick and the reason music of today does not really move anybody. Just a shame how we have gone down to the gutter in our standards....calling avg singers great when thay are not.

@navanod001 - Because YouTube didn't exist when this song came out, and wasn't one of her biggest hits, but it's an amazing song.
Now that Jennifer Hudson 's WeightWatcher's commercial features this song, it'll probably get more hits and more people will discover how amazing Whitney was in her prime.

I think the times now is such that Whitney was from an era where people appreciated good vocals and showmanship and would pay a lot to get the albums and go for the concerts. These days, its just cheap media hence the rise of mediocre artistes.

@DDH843 back in college, 89. a friend of mine, music teacher said she was going to lose it because she was a "throat" singer rather than a "diaphragm" singer. don't know what that means , but seeems he was right. albeit, i looooove the soulful earthiness of her vocal!

@jobjock So I guess the drugs had nothing to do with her voice decline??..lol and Patti Labelle is in her sixties and is just as loud and clear as ever I mentioned her only because she has the same type of singing style to some degree. With all due respect to your friend drugs and heavy smoking is the main reason her voice is damaged.

Isn't it strange how you can go to videos of people with much,much,much less talent and yet their views are in the mega millions? That to me is a indication of how low down our societies standards have gone. WH is vocal perfection and yet i see people who can't even sing with 95-200 million views. It is sick and the reason music of today does not really move anybody. Just a shame how we have gone down to the gutter in our standards....calling avg singers great when thay are not.
