  • god damn these dudes is som badasses

  • I bet L.A. engine crews appreciate the way the truckies bust their tails to vent smoke and heat out of structures, great stuff.

  • There seems to be no panic with the guys at 3:40, just teamwork, watching each others' backs and ice water in their veins.

  • this is awesome! haha especialy the music

  • this is awesome! haha

  • Они что-полные идиоты??! Вскрывают опасно горящую кровлю-и НИ ОДНОГО подготовленного ствола рядом..

  • To all Truckees, know that when the ROOF is showing heavy black smoke,''as You can see it has a very high potential of FLASHING OVER.

  • @gabemorg.. I don't think social d was ever really played "in". Shitty band overall. Thought the song (which is actually belongs to cash) was tits for this vid though.

  • lIked this video better with social d

  • @firedogvegas social d is played out ...obey your master

  • Roof sounding lesson at 1:42. That's the way you do that sh#t.

  • @gators288 ill leave you alone but i still say that ventilating a roof that already has fire coming out of it is like painting eggs white at easter time...

  • @93CFD i could not agree more, why put fire men on a roof thats already venting?, i can see putting them up there if it needs venting, but once your up there and its vented its self, some body needs to man up and say,our job is done here.....

  • watch 3:08 that's sweet guy says screw walking down with a chain saw so why not just slide down the rail.. Wheeeeeee!

  • Well id be lying if i said all us truckies didnt want to get to do some of the stuff these guys do great video and stop hatin FDNY give a city props where they deserve it and LAFD has some amazing truck companies

  • Good Video

  • 2:49 3 guys on a bowstring truss roof??? Macho kills firemen. Stupid! All the rest of the scenes are pretty impressive. Except when the guy falls through the terra cotta tile. That was in Phoenix.

  • 3:30 ladder in fire....who cares about a ladder, there were guys on the roof. great job to the operator for staying put so his crew could get off.

  • Lol 3min30 ladder in fire....... stupid operator

  • Why do truckies cut holes in the roof? To watch the Engine guys go to work

  • sic vid, but thats not LAFD @1:40

  • and at 5:50, man they are COOKING that Ladder! overall, good video tho!

  • seriously tho, the video at around 1:15.... that fire is through the roof and plenty of ventilation going, they need to de-ass that roof in a hurry.

  • This video is awsome! This is the fire fighting I want to be doing.

  • Metallica

  • Great video, looks like they are playing metallica from the roof....same strengh and passion.....

  • Why don't you stop writing shit on other people's videos? Next time I will send an army of commenters to your page. You live in bullshit if you want to.

  • excellent video

  • ISO shouldn't matter, its all firefighting no matter where it is. You guys shouldn't really care about NY or LA. Both big city environment with big risk. Let these guys and gals do their job and support them...

  • hey fuck nut, its not NYFD, it FDNY you abviously have not friken clue on what the hell your talking about.

  • Hey dumb ass its fdny first of all, second of all they are both world class fire departments doing the same job. Its about getting the job done. Not some ISO rating. Dont forget the 343 that died doing their job and saving thousands of people.

  • @22pt12 no, it is LA Fire these guys are wearing Bullard helmets and MSA packs. FDNY wears Cairn helmets and Scott packs.

  • @SkiFreakbandie Not to mention the fact that FDNY wears black. But they wear MP Ben 2s, not cairns

  • @SkiFreakbandie

LAFD wears Phenix helmets and Survivair SCBA

  • @22pt12

Hey "dumbass" it's not FDNY. Did you even watch the video. Hell the news footage even says LA. So, before you call somebody out do your research.

  • @22pt12 hey everyone has there own personal op so no need to get smart an rude we are all brothers in this feild

  • grow up

  • 1:45 is a bad ass mofo

  • @houstoncrawford Agreed, I like how he sounded the roof with his axe.

  • The true heroes <3

  • master of puppets by metallica =] nice any fire dep is the shit

  • they are working real hard to put that out.

  • song???

  • thunder struck by acdc

  • this is city check out what LA COUNTY FIRE is all about haha the BEAR is always louder than the EAGLE...

  • im a fire cadet and this is soooooooo ganster!!!

  • Bad Ass @ 1:43 But Venting an almost fully developed bowstring Trussed roof @ 2:42 ?? Ehhh......They are excellent at what they do, but those guys have bigger balls than I do for that situation LOL

  • did that guy die at 5:00?

He like went on the roof and disapered as flames took over it O:

  • The purpose was to irritate you .

  • WHAT is the purpose of playing this TRASHY music in the background?

  • Simple fact of the matter. If you guys think LAFDs bull shit and there obviously just bunch a dumb-asses up there, than great I'm glad you can watch a video and criticize probably the most diverse, best department on the planet. Hands down, who comes close to LAFD?

  • FDNY! just bustin' your chops... you left yourself wide open for that one.

  • FDNY is a great FD, but they normally get house fires. I seriously love what they did on September 11. It takes a good pair of balls and courage to do what they did that day!

  • I think LAFD is a really good department. Best on planet...i'd have to say Long Beach Fire Department =)

  • I love their Trucks and Engines. LBFD are also unique!

  • great video

  • for those of you how like music mute that shit and watch the video to Hero by nas

  • 2:50 - firefighting 101, stay the fuck off bow truss roofs. Those mutherfuckers are great at roof work but a lot of times they"re just showing off cause they know those fucking helicopters are up there and everyone is watching them. Just like all those car chases in LA, mutherfuckers just want media attention.

  • you have no idea about what you are talking about!!!

  • Wow. LAFD ventilation on display .For those who are squemish.Well thats why you surround and drown.

  • The clip of the guy falling through the tile roof is actually Phoenix FD. And thats why you sound the roof.

  • Thats why you dont walk on tile roofs.

  • how many guys do you need to vent a roof.. sounds like the beginning of a joke.. apparently in LA every structure needs 50 vent holes..

  • holy shit at 1:40

  • LAFD guys taught me vent. they really no what they r doing with this stuff. they r an awsome group of guys who know there shit

  • what songs are played in this video not the ac/dc one in the beginning, but the one right after???

  • A little group called METALLICA! Master of Puppets.

  • @min 3:52 they toasted the fly section of the ladder truck... (I wonder who paid for that?). Last I checked, once the roof is vented with positive results (hot, red stuff coming out), you get off the roof,; you are done to move on to the next job...

  • while they were doing the last vent the fire snuck up on them so shut the fuck up retard you cant control fire.

  • This is one of the great video I have seen. It shall be part of our class room lecture for the new comers. knowledge and courage are all in there for us to pick. good luck and play safe.

  • 1:11-1:20 says all

    also great video

  • you truckies are a different breed . i enjoyed the video . train hard, stay safe.

  • LAFD are the masters of venting

  • There is absolutely no Reason for them to be on a bowtruss roof like that. They are unstable collapse is iminant. Vent the roof from the main guys. Stay safe brothers

  • Comment removed

  • Just because the wood is stronger and heavier doesn't make it safer. The gusset plates don't hold making a collapse iminent. heavier wood don't necasseraly mean safer. Truss and Bowstring Truss are two of the deadliest constructions in the fire service, The only one more dealy is heavy timber. A fire with a bowstring truss roof claimed the lives of 6 FDNY firefighters in 1978 in Brooklyn it is extremely dangerous for roof operations ask any firefighter who rides out on a truck co.

  • Some of this is kinda dumb. Cut the hole and get off the roof, it isn't artwork, no need to stand back and look at it. stay safe guys.

  • My deepest & well earned RESPECT!!!

For these brothers from over the ocean.

    A fireman from Flanders.

  • nice video. Did that stick at 3:30 have to be replaced? That thing was takeing a beating

  • The Company I came from -our Motto was "As people and roaches are running,we are walking in"

  • Just awesome video. We go were others fear!

  • Awesome, if we do This in Germany we could come into jail for this , Also i have a question. From Which is the Music , That music is awesome at 1:30, >>>> 5 POINTS !

  • The 1st song is "Thunderstruck" by AC/DC and the next one is "Master of Puppets" by Metallica

  • so why do they ventilate the roofs when the building is burning up>?

  • This is called "venting the roof". There are two basic reasons for this practice.Dangerous gases and dark smoke accumulate in a burning building. Unlike the movie versions of fires, it is impossible for firefighters to see in such an environment. When a hole is made in the roof because the building is "vented", the smoke and gases escape because heat and smoke rise. It makes it much easier for the firefighters in the building to see.

  • It also reduces the possibilities of backdraft and flashover by reducing heat and removing flammable and toxic gases. Victims trapped inside have a greater chance of survival because more oxygen is present and firefighters can perform a more efficient search. Another reason for venting the roof is to see how far the fire has progressed.

  • Reply. To ventilate heat and smoke to eliminate other objects catching fire (contain heat) Eliminate Backdrafts, flashovers for firefighters safety, and not to mention for visibility for the firefighters'. Easier to put out because you can see the base of the fire.Definately not out for More destruction, I had that question" why are you ripping my house apart" Need to look for hot spots and embers.

  • Holy crap, sign me up for a truck company. One word comes to mind when I am watching these guys.... SAVAGE! Nice work gentlemen

  • I can't believe the level of idocy in this compelation. Where's the coordination with the engine co's? It looks like most of these videos are of truck co's doing vent work in an offensive manner, when it seems the building is a defensive fire.

Now of course I don't have the luxury of seeing the entire operation, but some of these vids seem wrong...

  • If you don't believe it don't watch it. The description says clearly ventilation. That's simply how LAFD does it. Most of those weren't defensive either.

  • I have the higest respect for LA Co FD firefighters as well

  • aww thats cute.

  • Talk about really digging a grave. Talking about 2 depts you think you know about cause you watch Youtube. Be proud of that one

  • i worked for both fire departments. houston and l.a. I will be honest, the clients in l.a are alot better the ones in the wards of houston. I just wanted to see how many woo-woo's I could fire up with my comments. I really dont care about who is better or who runs the most fires. I really didnt expect this many comments back to me. thanks for writing me back tho.

  • great video. i have a lot of respect for the LAFD and the LA County Fire guys and gals. your guys are the best. see ya around when you are heading to a responce.

  • ventilation is a very important part of ff, smoke kills, but i remind the rookies, since i been on (27 years)our firefighting deaths, have been in vacant blding...

  • I see a lot of roof work. . .nice! Do you guys out west do any Positive Pressure Vent.?

  • damn thats a good video!!...im not a firefighter in the u.s but i am in chile ...thats in south america for those who dont know. i love the job and i think you guys are luky for having the proper gear to fight fires ..here in chile we dont have a that kind of gear and if we want it we have to buy it..well i gues thats why this is volenteer ..but we are the best firefighters in south america...see you guys later and take good care..later!

  • L.A.City Fire Station 9. The busiest fire co. in the nation.Rock on Skid row warriors.OCD Clear.

  • PURE EMS.

  • look at you with your l.a. county screen name . talk to me when you work in the city. we are the 3 largest fire dept. in the nation. there is a huge difference between county and fire. i bet you have about 5 fire dept stickers on your vehicle. wanna talk big but work in the county. haha. joke

  • i hate retards like you on this website

  • just check your facts before you talk shit.

  • well first of all it doesnt matter what department you work for, you started this by saying how much houston is better, who gives a shit , no one cares, we dont care. At least we get fire. And for your information the County goes on fires , were known especailly for brush fires. I think all departments are good no matter what the stats say or how many fires they get. We dont need big mouths like you to say whos better.

  • I had a buddy that worked for l.a. city and and he told me they called all the county guys j.v. Hey, that is straight from a la city guys mouth

  • well, some say that , some realize that were both good and we have a good reputation with eachother, and the majority of la city firemen dads always want their sons working for la county, which i know a handfull of firemen that their dads are la city firemen, and some of their dads even told them that la county was hiring, so if they didnt think that this dept. wasnt good enough then they would of never told their kids annything about applying to the la co fd

  • yout basing what u think of a department on what one individual has told you, in la county guys and city guys have a great deal of respect for each other, countys usar team is one of the best in the world, even nato's adopted their tactic and send out lacofd guys when a disaster hits. city is the same, they have some of the most agressive roof ventilations there is, there the best at what they do, and some one who doesnt even live in the city should stop talking shit

  • ok county man. talk to me when you get in the city. funny how a county guy is saying that they have great respect for each other and not a guy who works for lafd. have fun running bullshit.

  • Are you even with a department?

  • yes, I work for houston fire department.

  • Wow, i might be in LA city Fire, i cant believe i even have to tell you this, but i have respect for LA County too, Houston Fire Dept sucks, i cant believe your even talking smack about the LA CO FD , I dont think you know what you are talking about, LAFD and LA CO FD 4 life.

  • most of us do have respect for eachother

  • not all, once i saw county guys saying hi to city guys , and they told the other la co fd guys to f *off, so some are way to serious about their dept's

  • Look at the stats bro, you guys don't even compare to us on the number of runs per year. We are the busiest fire department in the US. We run something like 715,000 calls per year out of only 106 fire stations. Thats an average of 18 runs per day per station. And if you didn't know, LA City fights a ton of fires. Don't knock what you don't know.

  • i think its best you dont say anything, krj1885

  • county firefighting is a joke.

  • in Russia firefighter make 300-400$ per month =(

  • that video clip about 1:40 into it is in phoenix arizona not la city. and just so you know the guy was fine. he got caught up on a truss and got out.

  • i'd like to thank all you truckies who let the heat out so the rest of us can go deeper into the buildings (my truck glass slipper broke a few years ago LOL)..what ever happened to the guy who falls in @ 4:58?

  • excellent footage. Nice job to all those who did the work.

  • volunteer firefighter here, and the stuff we do is kids play compared to the hard core stuff these guys do. great compilation and awesome music, even one of poor guys falls right in at 1:40

  • what are those guys doing on a bow string truss? (2:42)

  • What dept. do you work on that you will not go up on a bowstring.LMFAO.Besides center hallways thats lafds bread and butter. From here on out if someone has a critique.State your dept. policies that you use.Would love to hear those answers.

  • LAFD Rocks. They look like they take no prisoner and are in full attack mode.Until common sense and training tells them to retreat.Keep up the good work guys.America watches.

  • Hey Apage.Just to let you know this video was around almost a year before the ring of fire dickhead.

  • i like the guy at 2:40 trying to donkey kick the door

  • Thumbs down for rippin off the other vid...BOOOO

  • Nice rip off of the "ring of fire" video. Regardless, great truck work. For the firefighter from Germany, firefighters loose their lives from flashover and entrapment and building collapse more frequently than falling through roofs. By venting vertically, the heat and smoke is directed vertically out of the building thereby creating a safer environment for interior crews.

  • job well done guys...we don't get big ones like that were I volunteer but we get some decent ones...but you guys handled those fires with precision good job

  • In sweden, a fire man earns 2000 dollars in a month,I think is almost the same in the USA.

  • Professional Firefighters make 4-6 thousand dollars per month in the midwest US. Volunteers do it for next to nothing.

  • Not quite...La city fireman can earn well of 100k per year. I don't know how it is un sweden but here in socal firefighters are justly compensated

  • Props to my brothers in LA for gettin' it done!

  • Forgive for incorrect question...but how much earns the fireman in USA?

  • Forgive for incorrect question...but how much earns the fireman in USA?

  • Forgive for incorrect question...but how much earns the fireman in USA?

  • LA and FDNY Rules, .... This job is not for PUSSYS!!!

  • You said it man.

  • L.A.F.D is #1 and in Greetz, Germany you guys don't know shit. I would put our slowest station up against your busiest station and we would still out work you guys and put the fire out faster.

  • "germany you guys don't know shit"

Tell me our tactics than we can go on with the discussion...

(we don't lose firemen because of vertical ventilation)

  • Yur a punk.

  • u 2

    :D

  • At least ours are brave enough to attempt roof ventilation, and are willing to give their lives to save property and lives that way!

  • again and again....

This discussion is finished for me !!!!!!!!!!!

    @ everyone !

We don't want to lose firemen for a "simple " fire if no strange people are in danger !

    Greetz !

  • dont listen to him.

German firefighters are respected in the US also.Firefighters in no matter where are all brothers.

  • thanks m8. nice to hear this, but normally people here are not that friendly

  • Yeah ive seen those type of comments thousands of times.

    Stay Safe.

  • I am a uk Firefighter and we tackle fires different. Thats not to say we are better or worse. We all strive to do the best job in the worst situations. what looks out of control to you dosent to a trained firefighter. Stay safe all.

    Cheshire UK FireFighter

  • Uk Firefighters do different venting tactics, but as long as we stick to the way we know, and we all stay safe then we will always do a good job. Are job is dangerous but we are trained and very skillful. what looks out of control to you dosent to a trained FF. stay safe all. Cheshire Firefighter

  • this ventilation is the stupidest thing you can do in my opinion ! sure the smoke goes better out of the building but its damn dangerous for the fire men ! noone knows if they break through the floor or not, and also, noone knows how strong the floor because of the fire is. Thats why we dont do that in germany and we also get our fires off.

    Greetz, German fire department :-)

  • Ventilation allows for better fire attack and a safer enviornment interior for engine companies. You know when to get off the roof or not go on the roof at all by looking at a lot of contributing factors. This job is dangerous and if you cannot except that I believe there is a local fast food joint hiring in a city near you. People fear what they do not understand. Remember that. Just because Germany doesn't vertically ventilate doesn't mean shit.

  • i didnt say its shit. its a higher risk than normal. i have seen videos, also here on youtube where firemen break through the roof because it wasnt anymore strong enough. yes, the firemens job is dangerous, but we can make it more or less dangerous ! if i could choose between a better ventilation and a firemens life i would choose....

maybe, most time you can see how strong the roof still is but not everytime, its a risk and thats why many firemen broke though until now

  • Have you ever thought by verticle ventilation we are alleviating conditions on interior crews and occupants which in turn could possibly save occupants lives trapped in the structure?

  • Your opinion sucks. And so does your German tactics.

  • i like it to conversate with other firemen from other countries. it's interesting for me to hear different opinions and to speak about special tactics, but i dont discuss with someone who isn't able to give normal arguments here. I think i dont need to give you an answer trk661. If u don't like our tactics it's okfor me it means u know them... If you want we can discuss this theme but only if u give normal arguments and not a shit like that

    Greetz

  • Your building construction is different. What makes sense in LA, with very few old masonry construction buildings, might not make sense in Germany, with buildings built at the turn of the century or earlier.

Don't talk shit about an environment you haven't been in.
