  • I have a 2006 kia spectra5 Hatchback. has 47k miles and runs like a champ. got it for a steal for 4700 bucks. I like it and gets great mpg. Replaced all my speakers and deck and can't wait to add tint, rims, and a subwoofer. If your looking to purchase this car do it, its fun, easy and roomy. This is my first car im 17 and it might be my last lol.

  • I have an 2006 Kia Spectra 5. I have 78k miles on it. I love it no problems great mpg. Friends call it my little go cart. I would buy another Kia for sure. Tulsa Oklahoma area.

  • My Spectra5 2005 has 136,000 miles, bought it brand new and I keep good maintenance on it and even added HID headlights recently, tire wear is about new tires every 60,000, and I have not had any problems at all, My sister has the 2002 Spectra and she has not had any major repairs other than maintenance. Ill deff keep this car for a long long time!!!!!

  • i have the same car but mine is blue and a 2007.

  • Very good review!

  • is it sold in europe?

  • This is my first import and Im very impressed and so much bang for your money I got mine at year end close out fully loaded for $13,000 OTD! Now wish they made a truck I would buy that too!

  • These actually turned out to be very reliable cars. Kia has impressed me so much in recent years. I have family members who drive Kias and they love them. I might actually consider getting one for my next car.

  • @JCtheCheck, well 125hp at the wheels is better than 32hp at the wheels. My old Ford Aspire, had 64hp stock, so i guess that puts the 32hp at the wheels and 64hp at the crank. And thats BEFORE i put an aftermarket intake, exhaust, and performance spark plugs on the car and had a ignition timing adjustment done; Not to mention a $300 tune up with the intake manifold being port and polished.

  • I own a KIA Spectra5, mine is Ebony Black, it has a 16v DOHC 2.0L I-4VVT with 138hp at the wheels. My transmission is automatic, it is a fun car to drive, but i need new spark plugs and a new set of tires for it, so it can have better accelrateion time and grip. Last week, my car was door to door with a ford taraus 24v 3.0L 6c with over 230hp at 100mph! He pulled out in front, but didn't blow me away. :-)

  • @TheNopiracer Sorry, bud, but all the horspower figures the car manufactures give you are "at the crank", not "at the wheels". If you were to take the car to a dyno, at the wheels would be a little lower, probably about 125 i'm guessing.

  • My friend owns one of these, i drove it last night and was very impressed by it. great car.

  • And alot of people are still stuck on the old Kia image from when Ford was (mis)managing them almost to the ground. Since Hyundai bought it from them, Kia has been revived and makes surprisingly good cars for a low price.

  • I own an '06 Cerato/Spectra EX, fully loaded w/leather interior and with a 1.6 CRDI engine. Liked it when I got it and love it even more now. Incredible car.

  • You can buy one brand new right now for only $13,500!! I don't know what else even compares.

  • i have this car... and i love it.. good on gasss really godo handling

  • This is the first time I ever heard him say anything good about a Kia. Also he never tests the fully loaded EX trims

  • This car is better than 2 hondas add together.

  • i own one. they're actually pretty nice!

  • congratulation. she is so beautiful. how can anyoen not like it. it's indeed a very nice looking car....

  • Mine is the last gen.

    lol

2009 Kia Spectra5 Sx AT with 0miles on it for under 20k.

    fully loaded.

  • anything is better then a honda.

  • Honda makes very good motorcycles. but cars......pretty damn lousy. Hyundai-Kia is the 2nd biggest car manufacturer after Toyota.

  • its gona take 2 kias to outlast one honda

  • That's what you thought. KIA wasn't so good before. but these days. they make fantastic cars , honda on the other hand...used to make good cars....but now...they are lousy.

  • no dude..honda has..and always will make good cars....they whip kia's ass ...reeling in awards left and right for their vehicles.....it's the truth...kia is good.....honda is great

  • my spectra stomps on hondas. Kia's are good cars Hondas are good cars, but Kia has to compete with the older wiser legend honda's built.

  • lol i've owned a 01 hyundai elantra (sold it at 280,000 miles) and a 06 kia spectra5 (sold at 160,000 miles) never had a problem with either one - routine oil changes and had to change the tires on the elantra twice and once on the kia.... honda does make quality cars but guess what pal, the koreans are most definitely catching up... check out the new forte... honda and toyota have a lot to be worried about

  • i wouldnt say they have alot to worry about...kia and hyundai offer more for the money....but honda and toyota know how to build a car and always have dude, therefore they shouldnt have to worry much.

  • Excellent Car. 5 Stars ! I Love It !

  • does any1 know what the crash ratings are?

  • 5 star

  • EAU...

i have one for a rental currentley, luckily on ly for one day

    got rearended but was minor)

i hate it compared to my SUV

  • re consider, they're getting better.... HEY better than Chinese LOL

  • OK. Maybe better than some crappy Chinese car.

  • yeah. Kia is actually becoming more competitive, running up against Honda and Toyota.

And it looks like they're challenging Scion's xB with the new Kia Soul.

  • Kia gets pretty good rating lately from JD Power...certainly not low quality like some people think. I like the Spectra5, but I'm waiting for the spring of '09. I'll be getting the Kia Soul...fully loaded.

  • Dear JakeHustle2,

Toyota which made in Fremont California are worldwide car, the quality is good and achieved world class quality. But Toyota made in thailand are not worldwide car, only for 3rd developing country. The car will not be selling in USA. That is why i better buy korea car which directly imported from korea.

  • Toyota Vios, Avanza, Innova, Corolla all made in thailand. Those cars are not allowed to sell in europe because the engine and safety not good. Those cars are made for 3rd developing country people usage especially Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and etc.

In japan, nobody knews those cars also.

  • Nowadays toyota not made in japan....some made in thailand. Now which country is 1st country? which country is 3rd developing country?

Kia brand already achieved europe standard. If you go to europe, you will see kia on the road there.

  • I know that some toyota's are not made in japan! I live here in california and i have a toyota, and you know what, toyota's are made here in Fremont, California!

  • I have a '07 spectra5. I wasn't expecting much (not so good reviews on the company). My old car has just died, so, my husband and I went into Kia to find something cheap and small. (I was sick of big used cars.)

This cute little hatchback caught my eye. Love at first site. I've had it for a year and a half.

I love my car! It's actually quite zippy. You can park it anywhere. It's pretty spacious for the size and it fits A LOT of stuff in the back with the seats down. Oh, and good gas mileage.

  • i had this as a rental car...its a commuter car...u cant compare it to like a vw gti 4 cylinder

  • My friend had one as a rental yesterday, it did a half way decent neutral slam , lol

  • thinking of this as my first car. seems to fit the bill

  • I have an '05 Kia Spectra5 and I plan to keep it for the full 100k guarantee. I love the car. The video didn't show the full features of the fold-down seat function. The rear seat backs will lay flat if you move the seat rears forward. It took me a moment to learn, but once done, you'll love the car. Great for IKEA shoppers!

  • Love mine Kia Spectra5! Looks like a European SportWagon and gets awesome gas mileage with gas now $4.13 per gal I wouldnt trade it for anything!

  • KIA doesnt have the good reputation like TOYOTA cars have. I wouldnt trade my toyota corolla for a cheap low reputation KIA!

  • I personally would have purchased a MATRIX but they were $5000 more than the KIA Spectra.

My first vehicle was a TOYOTA Truck (5 yrs old 180K no problems) so I am well aware of their reputation as a great car. I'd still have it if I hadn't been rear-ended and it was totaled.

I still love my KIA Spectra (2006 - 35K miles without a single problem). They are a much better car then they were 10 yrs ago but NO they don't have the great reputation of a TOYOTA at least not yet.

  • 138 horsepower? ahahaha very humble. too modest if you ask me. but then again, you get what you pay for.

  • I've never been a Kia fan. Like most Japanophile Honda/Toyota/Nissan fans, I had the preconceived notion that all Korean cars are cheap and unreliable. The only reason I even looked at this car is because of the low price. But I LOVE this car! Very comfortable, handles well, and gets excellent gas mileage. Kia has really improved.

  • I don't like that car, I love it. IT's one of the easiest cars in the world to drive, and very fun to drive too.

  • You love, well then i hate KIA.. It doesnt have the good reputation like TOYOTA cars have.. KIA is cheap car brand..

  • Nowadays toyota not made in japan....some made in thailand. Now which country is 1st country? which country is 3rd developing country?

Kia brand already achieved europe standard. If you go to europe, you will see kia on the road there.
