This was filmed shortly before (about two weeks) Oliver Hardy died. It was rumored Hardy had terminal cancer (others said he went on a rapid weight loss regimen) and is why he looks like he lost so much weight.
@Redskin1040 It looks quite obvious to me, that Hardy, has something much more severe than rapid weight loss. For example, he is very much underweight.
@bakelitetim Letters written by Stan Laurel, mention that Hardy had terminal cancer, which caused some to suspect this was the real reason for his weight loss. Hardy was a heavy smoker, as was Stan Laurel. Hardy suffered a major stroke on 9/14/56, which left him confined to bed and unable to speak for several months. He remained at home. He suffered two more strokes in early August 1957, and slipped into a coma from which he never recovered. He died on 8/7/57, at the age of 65.
Under doctor's orders to improve a heart condition, Hardy lost over 100 pounds (45 kg; 7.1 st) in 1956. Several strokes resulted in loss of mobility and speech. He died of a stroke on August 7, 1957. Longtime friend Bob Chatterton said Hardy weighed just 138 pounds (63 kg; 9.9 st) at the time of his death. Hardy was laid to rest at Pierce Brothers Valhalla Memorial Park, North Hollywood. wikipedia
Please! Does someone can tell me who is that person behind them? Is he actor or Oliver's son? Is he still alive?
