Anything humans try to do for animals, even if it's of good intentions, is not going to be "natural" or ideal. At least someone is trying to do good by these animals as best as they can.
I'm an animal lover all the way, but for you people who are complaining about these wolves being in captivity: This facility RESCUES abused and injured wolves that cannot live on their own in the wild. Yes, it's not their natural habitat, but hey I figure it's better than some stupid human taking in a stray/injured wolf and trying to raise it as a pet, only for the poor thing to end up dead anyways due to stress, lack of care, or by meeting the bullet of a fearful/angry neighbor's gun.

I actually find this extremely upsetting. We have taken everything from them, locked them up within chain link fences, threatened their very existence. All that remains of their once wild spirit is a haunting howl which we so callously imitate and exploit. Awful.

Pups that were left behind after their mother was killed or pups that were initially pets until the owners realised that wolves are not the same as dogs, as well as other reasons.

@hotlikefireee I have visited this sanctuary- each & every one of these wolves was rescued from slaughter, starvation & torture. Many of these wolves came here as pups when the mothers were shot in their dens by hunters & rangers found the pups wandering the wilderness being hunted themselves. I absolutely agree with you about the devastation humanity has cause these magnificent animals & share in your abhorrence of those who seek to exploit them. But these wolves would not be alive without WMS.

Its also a means of communication with other wolves over distances telling them that this "territory" is theirs. I do agree with you that wolf howl should be in wilderness and i cannot imagine a forest at night without a wolfs howl.

@USMCMIAMI funny thing about that is statistically australian soldiers are more trained in firearms than the american. American soldiers are trained in only one weapon, prior to there job in the army. Australian military learn each and all firearms in our army.
Meaning. if our light machine gun guy loses the ability to fire, yet we need it. the rifleman next to him could use it.

I actually find this extremely upsetting. We have taken everything from them, locked them up within chain link fences, threatened their very existence. All that remains of their once wild spirit is a haunting howl which we so callously imitate and exploit. Awful.

@hotlikefireee These are not wild wolves that were captured and held captive, they are wolves that were rescued from being killed. Pups that were left behind after their mother was killed or pups that were initially pets until the owners realised that wolves are not the same as dogs, as well as other reasons.

@hotlikefireee I have visited this sanctuary- each & every one of these wolves was rescued from slaughter, starvation & torture. Many of these wolves came here as pups when the mothers were shot in their dens by hunters & rangers found the pups wandering the wilderness being hunted themselves. I absolutely agree with you about the devastation humanity has cause these magnificent animals & share in your abhorrence of those who seek to exploit them. But these wolves would not be alive without WMS.

@hotlikefireee You should not find this upsetting as the howling is the sign of happiness and togehterness of a wolf pack. Its also a means of communication with other wolves over distances telling them that this "territory" is theirs. I do agree with you that wolf howl should be in wilderness and i cannot imagine a forest at night without a wolfs howl.
