LMAO, This is one of the funniest things i've seen in a long time. Always loved this song & it goes surprisingly well with Robocop 2's footage. That part at the end where Robo's smacking Cain's brain in perfect synch with the beat had me in stitches. Nice job with the editing.
i feel sorry for Peter Weller for having to do this horrible sequel. I will admit one thing: that this film is by no way worst than robo 3 my god it had to be directed by satan. Well the good news is that i will NEVER accept those films as part of the robocop canon. It was never meant to have sequels AND the original creator had nothing to do with them. The other good news is there is a remake(well sort of) that is to be released in 2012 or is it 11?
@cheapspace what ???? this sequel had the best ending ever even better then the original, ofcourse the original is better but i prefer watching this one. To say robo 2 is worse then 3 is a just wrong.
@Mack11gunz you misread i said NOT as bad as robocop 3. Like i said this movie is bad tolerable but still bad. To me the only redeeming quality of this film is Cain. That alone is not enough to be anywhere near the awesomeness of the original. Ill just say this and be done what was the main character's motivation??
A very good video clip ! The sound when Robo walks at the beging (I liked it the most), the song words when singing "I can see" and Robo look up and jump through the roof window B) ! I like Robocop 2 the best (because of the little girl, Robo on the motorcycle, the bad Robot that Robo Must stop and how Robo fight with his memory) !!
I am not a fun of Icehouse but this Excelletn choosen :) song (Electric Blue) with your maden video touch me right to the heart ! Thank you for that, Michael !!
at 2:15 you can see Robocop turn his head rapidly towards the guy he drove past, I think thats a movie mistake, he shouldnt be able to turn that fast?
The evil shrink thought they could have controlled him thanks to his addiction to nuke and the fact that living as a cyborg was his only way out of a broken body...
OCP, the corrupt company that built Robo, uploaded all kinds of crazy directives to show the public that he was malfunctioning and obsolete, thus the reason to replace him with RoboCop 2. He electrocuted himself to get rid of those crazy commands.
I just love your music videos, Mike. You always choose just the right song to capture the mood, the atmosphere, and the characters in the films you pay tribute to. This video is yet another example of what makes you so good at what you do.
SIDE NOTE: I just realized that the mayor from RoboCop 2 is also Harpo from The Color Purple. Awesome!
For everyone's reference, this song's by an Australian group called "Icehouse". You can find this song in their "Man of Colours" album, released in late 1987; it's track 2 of 12.
I downloaded a copy of the song from Project Playlist, but I personally would recommend buying the album itself (I couldn't because I can't afford it, let alone much else).
So, I was about 9 when this movie came out, and I swear, if you asked us (in 1989/90) what the year 2008 would look like, we'd probably say "it's totally gonna look like Robocop... and all the music's gonna be synth pop with random sax solos!"
In other words: kudos for summing up an entire era.
No. The reason is many of the scenes in the film match the songs lyrics:
"on my knees" - Robo falls to his knees
"...I had a dream..." - Robo daydreams of his wife
and of course the song title, which is shown at the start when Robo fries himself with ELECTRIC...and did I mention that RoboCop is also BLUE in this video?
True that! It pretty much went downhill from the first one. Actually I saw Iron Man the other day and it really reminded me of the second Robocop movie a lot. At least the end of it did, where he pulled out the bad guy's visual wires.
As for RoboCop 2, I still have yet to buy it. Many say that RoboCop 2 sucks, but I agree more with those who say that RoboCop 2 is "criminally underrated", whilst RoboCop 3 is "rightfully hated". Alas, the first RoboCop movie will always be the best. I can only hope that the new RoboCop movie will be just as good; it's due out in 2010, and will be a series reboot, not a sequel.
I completely agree, though I am a bit worried about that new RoboCop movie. Peter Weller is a big reason why RoboCop 1 & 2 were so good while the third sucked. He was really good at acting the part, whether it be movements or talking! Hopefully they get a pretty good actor for that new one.
The productions messed up the original Frank Miller script horribly...some years ago Miller had the script published in comic form and it was just sheer brilliance...

What's this song got to do with 'Robocop 2'?; Was this song featured in the movie, or, on the sound-track, or, something?
Also, is this the actual music video, or, did you make this, yourself & why does it say Icehouse cover in the description box?

Robocop is one of my favorite Sci-Fi/Action movies ever made. RoboCop is real classic with fantastic storyline, visual effects....
I also love Robocop 2 and Robocop 3 - very underrated movies.
RoboCop The Series (22 episodes,1994) was no less impressive Television show.

Robocop is the bomb! The second movie wasn't as good as the first one, but it was still pretty kickass!
