  • WHERE ARE THE LYRICS YOU ILLITERATE EA0825?

  • ok jay young you damn autist

  • Quoting american1476: "England might as well be ours", "if we can just throw Israel out wed be fine"... my oh my, I wonder why the rest of the world has the idea americans are self-centered, arrogant and ignorant douchebags...

  • @ARCLincoln R E M = royal english metal!

  • who listing this in 2012 hands up !

  • @immat1234561 No one cares...

  • Out of time?

  • spigger... spigger :D

  • droggelbecher

  • <3

  • @londonathens besides, why would people who like the song bring down a free, good audio quality videos and cause the nice YouTube team valuable effort and time changing a useless and groundless series of complaints.

  • @londonathens it never states that it has lyrics in the video, it merely states that there are lyrics with the video, which there are, in the description.

And it's not 'your' language at all. I'm from England, therefore it is actually MY language. You AMERICAns use a corrupt version of ENGLish from ENGLAND.

    So shut up.

  • @Nameless555vs666 lol keeping it for all us brits (im so proud) :)

  • @Nameless555vs666 and limeys use a corrupt version of proto-German. What a arrogant ass to claim ownership of an entire language.

  • @benholt06 lmao I think ours is probably closer to the original bc we have more German stock and probably explains the accent

  • @Nameless555vs666 shut up we saved your asses from the Germans you idiots had to give Poland that war guarantee England might as well be ours we're all in the same empire if we can just throw Israel out wed be fine

  • @Nameless555vs666 and the english use a corrupt version of german.

  • "I thought that I heard you laughing, I thought that I heard you sing. That was just a dream"

Perhaps just a general realization of the harsh reality (for everyone's plight including ones own) for what it is rather than being sedated in any blissful state of ignorance. The religion aspect of this song is probably just a metaphor..

  • This is a great song. Especially I love the guitar...

  • THE GUY WHO POSTED THIS VIDEO MUST HAD LOST NOT HIS RELIGION BUT HIS MARBLES AS WELL.IT SAYS LYRICS BUT WHERE ARE THEY?

THAT IS MISLEADING SO PEOPLE REPORT HIM TO THE YOU TUBE CHANNEL SO THEY WILL BRING IT DOWN.

  • @londonathens Description?

  • @GermanNirvanaFan what r u talking about?it is a matter of accuracy.the person who uploaded this video must not state 'with lyrics' when there are not.and i do not need your assistance with lyrics .i am american so i know my language better that you ever will.it is just a matter of principle .i have alredy reported this video to the youtube team and they will soon bring it down.ITS WRONGLY LABELLED AND MISLEADING

  • @londonathens It's in the desciption dumbshit

  • wait... people think this song is actually about god!? lolz

  • this songs lyrics have a chilling and parabolic messege behind them.... if anybody gets what im saying....

  • unbelievable song.melody and lyric the strength in this song.without melody its dumb, without lyrics its meaningless. So,just listen to this masterpiece work for 10 or 20 years to come.

  • The song says not "losing my believe in god" or "getting angry". I think that REM intentionally said it never in this song. They tried to make song that makes people who lost they'r religion - the believe in god - and people who kept they'r believe in god happy.

  • i love how on a R.E.M video there is a indepth debate on what the lyrics should be percieved as, whilst on many pop videos all the comments have to offer are trolls and basement dwellers arguing about how they are gonna kck the trolls ass

  • REM formed in Georgia. "Losing my religion" is a term used in the southern states (mainly by Christians) to describe getting angry or upset. I'm from the southern states so I've always known this. I don't know if that's what they meant in the song or not. But I'm just here mainly to listen to REM and remember the 90s.

  • the lyrics of Idioteque of Radiohead is much like this:

    I've seen too much"

    I haven't seen enough

You haven't seen enough" Just food for thought.

  • took the words out of my mouth mightyjay.................you made me lose my religion lol

  • The phrase "losing my religion" is an expression from the southern region of the United States that means losing one's temper or civility, or "being at the end of one's rope." ~ Wikipedia

The song is not actually about religion as such, it's about... well, just listen to the lyrics.

  • @MightyJayYoung I think it was the video that gave this idea, and the title just helps ..

  • @buxadonoff dumbshit asshole

  • @TheBrando382 ??? Why are you cursing at me ?

  • Awesome top comments :)

  • Hello

  • Daddy, what is a closet Mohammedan?

  • Hope it was memorable

  • Someone told me I prefer the Glee version.......

This world is fucked up by those who think Glee makes better songs than the original one....

  • "losing ones religion" is a southern expression for losing your virginity

  • @1115pandora Then I guess I just lost my religion. ^_^.

  • Pretty sure it doesn't mention god, jesus christ, or allah. Oh the irony? Yeah so much irony.

  • me encantaria entender la canción! m'encantaria entendre la cançó! mi piacerebbe capisci la canzzone! y wish understand the song! real music not like justin bieber..viva españa!

  • it's got over 9 million views because this is M U S I C!!

  • religion makes people crazy, I think part of why they do go crazy is because they live WAY too restricted of lives... be FREE!

  • Sign in "Rapid Eye Movement" people, and you lose your religion.

  • Amazing song ;-)))

  • Why are people bringing up religion? Just enjoying the fucking song and shut up.

  • @juicyj2k11 pretty funny its called losing my religion. The İrony

  • yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Love it/ Awesome

  • For all who diss religion, view it as a morality background. I am religious and I do believe in God. I may not be as devout as I would like (going to church etc.) but it does keep most of society in check.

  • @cc4rtwright

    Lol?

Is that why the most atheist Western countries also have the least crime?

    Lol?

Norway is voted the best country to live in overall...so that includes happiness and what not...

Lol know how many atheists Norway has?

    Lol!!!

And this song is not about religion dude....

    Check again...

Sorry but fuck religion and fuck everyone who doesn't realize you can get ten times the moral and ethic teachings when you ignore one of the 3 abraham religions...

  • @cc4rtwright I'm particularly not religious, I've read the Qur'an, The Tora, and The Holy Bible... I can tell you that if those 'morals' weren't already in place long before Moses went to the mountain, that they would have never made it there sir. Not trying to be a atheistic cunt or anything just giving some other perspectives on the view.

  • I DID IT I MURD... I SAID TOO MUCH.

  • Was in the army totally wasted on hospital bed in 1990 when these songs filled the air (thanks to the nurses).. Since that "automatic for the people" changed my life into the direction of gypsyness. Thanks god for that :-)

  • @aqajahua damn man

  • RIP

  • - V - R.E.M. - V -

  • goodbye R.E.M. ---------- thanks for this song

  • Losing your religion has nothing to do with religion. It means losing your temper or civility. Discussion closed.

  • @petenick96 Shut up.

  • If only I was alive to hear this song when it was made.

  • @SuperWarganism Why because you can't hear it now? Aren't you tired of posting that same tired shit all over youtube? It wasn't clever when you first read it, and it sure isn't each time you imitate it.

  • Love it, great song :)

  • Definitely going on my list of to-play songs on the guitar

  • Don't judge or judy

  • Great song.

  • fuck this song i hatexD >:)

  • @TheBestManRO1 Ummmm, what did you just say?!? O_o

  • @TheBestManRO1 A loudly laughing closed eyes face only a space away from a smiley face with a devilish look. This person cannot be serious as they have the sure marks of an insane person. Please excuse him/her for his/her remark as he/she is insane and cannot control him/herself.

  • @TheBestManRO1 failtroll

  • Losing my religion :(

  • Lyrics in description, thumbs up so people see!

  • even know it is a good video it needs lyrics

  • you can try and bend the lyrics to any theory but its whatever the song means to you

  • where the lyrics?

  • One of my favorite songs. :)

  • woww^_^

  • Why are people arguing over religion? This song isn't even about religion.

  • Im not just saying this to end the religion argument, but I actually think religion itself is symbolic in this song. Pay close attention to the lyrics and you can see at what they probably intend. Religion is all faith based, isnt it? Religion represents faith, or in other words the song is more like "losing my faith" as in losing his faith in his girlfriend/wife/etc. Look at the lyrics. "The lengths I go to" "Trying to keep an eye on you like a hurt lost and blinded fool"

    Anyone agree?

  • @allstar00442288 Losing my religion is a southern term to describe losing your temper or flying off the handle.

  • @allstar00442288 The most meaningful explanation ever! Great job!

  • @allstar00442288 I agree in full.

  • @allstar00442288 I'm pretty sure you are right, but I like the idea of a song about someone who realize they are living a lie.

  • @allstar00442288 "your religion" can also be "what keeps you going"; like your attitude, your personality, your character .. maybe.. XD

  • @knallbirne3000 yea it's what i'm saying, why pelople automatically associate the word religion with the bible or god,the lyrics never said, any of that two words, people is stupid. i totally agree whith your comment.

  • @allstar00442288 I think to a further extent, the singer is losing faith in his own perception of himself: "Oh no I've said too much / I haven't said enough" This contradiction and other contradictory lyrics in the song lead me to believe that he's completely lost faith in his woman, but is now starting to doubt himself. That's what I hear, at least.

  • Oh my god!!!!!!!Nice song

  • I'm not a native English speaker and my knowledge of the language is limited; even so I think this song isn't about religion but it deals with the failure of many of us human beings to understand the others and to make ourselves understood even if we try hard, hard to the point of losing our temper and giving up all efforts...Yet I may be wrong...Anyhow what matters is good music and, beyond beliefs, colour , gender -blood is red in each of us- the REM's music is good.

  • just remember--> that's me in the corner, that's me in the spotlight, losing my religion :-(

  • music and poetry are the sugar of life

  • @mauriziocarrer8

    I agree!

  • M.U.F.C not jus football but a RELIGION

  • Music was around long before religion, neanderthals used sound before speech, what is speech except controlled sound? never heard of anyone going to war because of a song.

  • @alan59able What about the conflict between metalheads and emofaggots a few years back?

  • @CaptainZETTA wish i could comment, have no idea what your question means, haven't lived in the uk for years...left around the turn of the century

  • *Sigh* "Losing my religion" is a phrase used to convey the idea of losing your temper, such as "flipping my lid".. C'mon you guys

  • Music is my religion

  • This has nothing with religion So ENjOy musiC !!!

  • Esta canción está hecha para los que de verdad saben a que religión se refiere, y no para los que andan haciendo estúpidos comentarios de si llevan o no letra.

  • FINALLY!!!! the version from the album. Thank you!!!

  • is this justin beiber

  • Nice video but it need's alot more lyrics with lyrics it could get more likes and it isn't a real religinous song but it does say loosing my religion thoe

  • la canción mas hermosa que he escuchado en toda mi vida.

  • I thought I heard you sing

  • .

Where is the fucking lyrics ???

    .

  • @rogerioctbacwb its in the box underneath the video where it starts saying " *9 million wiews" retad

  • @rogerioctbacwb IN THE DESCRIPTION

  • This is a fucking great song. No more need be said today.

  • This song isn't really about religion guys. Understand a song before you you criticize someone. (I'm a christian btw.)

  • God is not a religious system. The Lord Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven, religion is a fallacious system of attempted self correction. To me, this song could be perceived as having a two- fold meaning. R.E.M. could be speaking directly about religion, while also using the word as an abstract metaphor for several different things, including romance and self introspection, perhaps occupational position or momentary accumulation as well. This is one of my all time favorites.

  • HELP R.E.M PRAY FOR THEM.

  • @russellcalkins Will do :)

  • People who don't understand English language are missing ALOT .... sadly.

  • Comment removed

  • im gonna be a bigot every one must listen to their languages songs D:<

  • Love this fantastic sound

  • Bravo Rem, quelle aventure!!!!

  • why the fuck dont more groups use that wicked sounding little guitar thing its fukin awsome

  • oh my god... this song makes me shudder ...<3 <3 <3

  • I actually like the lyrics in the description more than displayed lyrics. I feel like I can follow the song a lot better because I can read forward.

  • you need to have a religion to believe in god, all you need is nothing more but that of a moral evaluation

  • Everyone has the right to believe in what they want. IN MYSTICAL ENERGIES, GOD, SANTA, OR UNICORNS. Why would you care in what others believe in? But most important, believe in yourself.

  • I listen this in 2012 but 2012 year songs will suck just like 2011 i know that!!

  • Nur der RWE!

  • 376 people are a couple of 10 year olds or hillbillies who don't know what good music is

  • la mayoria de kos idiotas pulgar hacia arriba de este comentario, porgue su en esponol. responder con una sonrisa si se entiende

  • I wish that comments would be more about the song... Like ... what do you think about the lyrics and how do you understand them. Why is everyone linking this to religion. To me, he's singing about other kind of religion :)

  • @krizma993 Music itself is a religion. For people like me, anyway, lol.

  • @djconFFS I like your way of thinking :)

  • @krizma993 in theory he sings about losing his temper, that's losing my religion in the south XD (Theory I sad) I wish we would have this type of music these days

  • @harvesterofsand Yeah well ... the fact is that old music was way better :) I hope there will be more good bands like this one, but i honestly doubt it. At least we have R.E.M. still :P

  • @krizma993 I thought it was about Michael writing growing up as a bi-sexual in time when they were not accepted

  • @MrticTac921

I would like REM more if he was straight but whatever.

  • @MrticTac921 I think it's more important how YOU understand the song and what it means for you, what it reminds you of. Not what they were thinking when they were writing the song :P

  • yey Oslo

  • CandyMCT13 follow me on twitter!! blessed

  • where are the lyrics???

I agree, glad we grew up in the 80s and 90s

  • sad to see them go

  • i'm not sure if i could like another version of this song. i kno that lacuna coil is coming out w/ a new version of this song

  • i jam to this all the time , my friends question me cuz im 13 XD

  • @dingocat7 Don't let them pressure you into listening to today's crap instead of good stuff like REM brah. When I was your age kids were listening to popular music about as bad as today's. Always wished I was born in 1978 instead of 1988. QQ

  • @hippaul Dude, the 90s were awesome. What are you talking about? I was born in 1993, and I wish I had been around to see more of the decade

  • @anuraaggirdhar Oh no no you got me wrong man. I LOVED the 90s. I just wish I was born in 78 so I could have lived my teenage years and young adult years during that era rather than have been as young as I was during it.

  • @dingocat7 Does age really matter ?

  • why old music still the best ?

i hope REM be heard by new men for music its best song

  • Losing my Religion=FUCKIN AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!

  • In German: Herzschmerz and Sehnsucht. Please Google... :-)

  • Απλά κοματάρα!!!!!!!!
