For that same reason generals in medieval times used to put missile units in the front row at the beginning of battle (and run them back behind spearmen when melee time came)

spartans were also created by kidnapping kids at the age of 7

the timelines and history are also very parallel

sure its enough time to evolve suits but it's not possible to transition into halo

if someone is interested, its a series of books (3) about a terran archiologist

getting messed up in events prior to SC2 but much after SC1...

alot of protoss history and such in it.

the book is on the blizzard bookstore so its legit ^^.

if you are actually interested I suggest reading the first book.

One very symbolic thing about the story is that Raynor was the marshall of Mar Sara, before the Dominion, when the Zerg invaded, in the first Starcraft. Because nobody cared about Mar Sara, as it was a far away mining colony they didn't bother reinforcing to fight the Zerg. That's why Raynor joined w/ Mensk against the central governement! He needed help fighting the Zerg to protect the people of Mar Sara. In SC2 the first mission is fighting there, Raynor protecting his people once again!
