  • I once won a SOTV 'mathpack' from them back in the 90's, I remember if you sent them the answer to the problem they had up, they'd send you a pack with some small, random stuff in it like pencils and stickers and such. Does anyone else remember this?

  • @greatbearofalltime, I would have to agree with you, Because I too think that they should need to get this on DVD, and other old PBS Shows too, Kid's Today don't know what good shows are, These old PBS shows are way better then SpoongeBob Squarepants, Hannah Montana, Ect, Ect, I for one, Love watching these old PBS Shows, and I think about them all the time, These Old PBS Shows, Like This One, Will Always Remain In My Heart (and mind) Forever and Ever, Along with My Favorite Cartoon Charicters.

  • (contuied from the previous post).

Reading Rainbow, Star Lore, Once Upon A Time, Storylords, Has taught me to love books,

Newton's Apple, Taught Me all about Sciance,

Sesame Street Taught Me About Numbers, Letters.

Mister Roger's Neighborhood (r.i.p fred rogers) Taught Me what it means to be a friend.

and Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego Taught Me About Geography.

So I Hope that my two nieces will learn from these old shows.

    Like I have before them.

  • @greatbearofalltime, I have to agree with you, because I have two nieces, and They're a year and a half old, So this and other old PBS Shows has got to come out on Dvd, so That my two nieces would watch this and other old pbs shows, and Enjoy them, like their auntie has before them. I think that Kid's Today don't know what good shows are, These old PBS shows are way Better then, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Yo Gabba Gabba, Ect, Ect. I love these Old PBS Shows, These Old Shows Taught Me Everything.

  • @greatbeardofalltime, I have to agree with you, In fact i think that all old PBS shows should be out on DVD, so that Kid's of the present would see the shows that the generaition seen before them, I have two nieces, and they've just turned 19-months-old, when they are about 3 or 4-years-old respectivly, I'm going to introduce this and other old pbs shows, so that these old shows can teach them, what they've taught their Aunt before them.

  • @qreatbearofalltime, I would have to agree with you, because I have two nieces, and they're 16-months-old, and they're going on 17-months this coming october 30th. and when they get older, I'm going to introduce these old pbs shows, like this one to them, and I would tell them that their aunt was watching these old pbs shows, like this one, when i was their age.

  • Mathnet was kickass. Where else would I learn an easy trick to multiply by nine?!?!

  • Catchy theme song and a great show...brings back good memories of childhood.

  • When then canceled Square 1 my brain canceled on me around the same time. I was so good at Math due to this show. Thanks for the up load.

  • godDAMN this show was awesome! math was my strongest subject for the longest time.

  • This show was incredible! I can remember finishing my homework fast so I could turn it on at 5 pm on PBS to watch it.

  • I used to watch that show all the time in Winnipeg.

  • Dude... Square One rocked BIG TIME. Instead of the finger going around in a circle, a penis would've been cool. This show has been off the air since 1992.

  • Nostalgia!!! Damn, I miss those days... :(

  • man, another awesome show. i loved mathnet and the magic tricks with blackstone. oops! drove me crazy because as soon as they made the mistake it was obvious and it always resulted in that damn plane falling apart!

  • trippy!

  • 0:28

The earliest Mathman concept...really...didn't...work...did it? Haha :p

  • I'd love to see this get rerun (along w/ 3-2-1 Contact) on, say, the PBS Kids DTV subchannel. Too bad it was missed on Noggin, but I never had cable.

  • holy crap, wikipedia says they had 230 episodes of this show! they need to get this on DVD now for today's kids to watch!

  • @greatbearofalltime How can I buy tv series like these? I want to buy this, 321 contact, bill nye, etc. They dont have things like this on TV anymore.. anyone know where I should look?

  • @greatbearofalltime the number in front ment the season so if u seen 230 it ment season 2 episode 30.

  • @GCRams2

or you could just go to wikipedia and verify this instead of talking out your ass.

  • @greatbearofalltime, excuse me but as you know wikipedia is not right all the time. Did you know school districts will not let students use wikipedia for term papers no more cause how much they got wrong. Now Square One did do 5 seasons and a total of 230 episodes(all I watched) I did like the games they played on it like Piece of the Pie and But Whos Counting. Mainly I watched Mathnet cause it was based on real problems.

  • 20+ years and I still remember the 2 cops... LOL!

  • I can't believe I'm watching this opening theme for the first time in more than 15 years! I still remembered everything, and how we would always imitate the girl who looks up from reading her magazine. I miss after school PBS in the 80's.

  • WHAT??? THEY SHOWED THIS ON NOGGIN TOO??? I grew up watching it on PBS. MAN, I wish I had known! I would've been watching it again! LOL!

  • @naturalesque81tv Yep for a while...late nights on Noggin was the ORIGINAL The N before it got it's own channel and basically became the Degrassi New Generation Channel. Back then the N came on from like 8 or 9PM till about 5AM and beginning around 12 midnight it would show all the CLASSIC PBS shows...The Electric Company, 321 COntact, Squate One TV, Degrassi Jr Hugh and Degrassi High, and I THINK it showed old school Zoom also.

  • Is this on DVD? I grew up with this show on PBS.

    Loved the theme music.

  • Same here. The last decade has nothing compared to how great the 80s/90s were

  • Do you know if this is on DVD? I watched this as well as Where in the world is Carmen SanDiego? Remember that with Lynn Thigpen. She died years ago. She was in many television shows. I liked her. It was him or us with Ann Jillian. She was the cop trying get the family out alive. They were held hostage by some insane boyfriend.

  • I don't know for certain - I don't think it's been officially released, but I did a little google-diggin, and some guy was attempting to digitize the VHS episodes and then burn them to DVD.

  • Unbelievable.

  • I loved Mathnet

  • I always watched this show..I liked Mathnet the best..didn't like it as much when George moved to New York and Pat Tuesday joined the show.

  • @mooky9669 How can I buy tv series like these? I want to buy this, 321 contact, bill nye, etc. They dont have things like this on TV anymore.. anyone know where I should look?

  • hahaha mathnet, my favourite sketch of the entire show...btw does anyone here has a show called "AJ's Time Traveler"?

  • did anyone notice that Mathnet is a predecessor to the show Numb3rs?

  • Hey, can someone put acouple of episodes on youtube?? like they did on Carmen Sandiego??

  • this wuz def my show...i miss theze old showz

  • I made straight A's in math when this show was on the air. I guess I lost it when it when Square One TV when off the air. I miss this show

  • This show definitely made math easier for me. It was also an enduring image to the end of crappy sixth grade and on to better things in middle school! :)

  • Those were the good old days of educational television. *sigh*

  • Educational television at its best. Nuff said.

  • Boy, did I love Square One. And from what I've been able to find of it on YouTube, its dorky, geeky humor really holds up. But the problem with SQ1, and for that matter most of Children's Television Workshop's old shows, is that they leaned very heavily on current popular culture, so they tended to date VERY quickly. And in a culture with an ever-increasing turnover rate, this makes for a very short shelf life.

  • Man, this takes me back...used to watch SOTV every afternoon after school, and though a bit too young to really grasp some of the concepts they taught, still a cool show.

  • OH MAN!

    That was awesome.

Every once in a while I'll see one of these people on a commercial. Especially George from Mathnet.

    Absolutely awesome.

  • I've seen Reg E. Cathey (the black guy) in a lot of things and Larrey Cedar (the popcorn eating guy) in a few things as well but not really much from the others.

I do remember the streamer-blowing guy as a sarcastic cop in the movie "Harry and the Hendersons" though.

  • is this still on noggin? i didn't know i even had that channel, but do.

  • Sadly, it was taken off the network in 2003. Now Noggin is gonna be the Nick Jr. Channel starting 1/1/10 and Noggin will end on 12/31/09.

  • When will Square One Television come to PBS Kids Sprout?

  • never! IMO the material is extremely dated...even though the math is the same the parodies and spoofs are completely dated from the late 80s early 90s..i doubt a dvd will ever be released either and if it is it will only cater to us adults who want to reminisce of our childhood :) but dont get me wrong cause id snatch one up to do just that

  • YES!! I was looking through some old drawings my Mom saved when I was a little kid (many from the late 80s/early 90s and for a school project, we had to draw a picture of our favorite things. For "favorite TV show" I drew a picture of "Square One!"
