does anyone have the behind the scene footage of this when the cartoon ended? There was an afterparty involving Bugs, Wolf, & Foghorn's family members & all the backstage production team that filmed this?
it was the last one, but then the Bugs Bunny Show was made in the 60's i believe. but still there is "The Looney Tunes Show" on cartoon network. i'd rather these old shorts, but the looney tunes show is pretty funny and enjoyable.
There was an instrument that Bill Lava used in this and the Road Runner cartoons, it sounds like reed instruments mixed with an accordion. Can anyone clarify what the instruments were? They always kind of creeped me out. It starts at about 1:07.
Even though the studio continued to release new cartoons through 1969 (with DePatie-Freleng producing the majority of them through 1967), Bugs appeared in none of them. So, this was a farewell of sorts to their "Golden Age".
The bugs cartoons in the 40's and 50's were the greatest Bug's cartoons. The later bugs cartoons such as this one seem more forced, and developed with less thought to the earlier ones. The earlier cartoons were also so in-sync with the background music, that the music could also have been considered a main "Character". There's no such thing here. Check out "A Corny Concerto" for a full episode of what Merrie Melodies incorporated into so many of their cartoons.
This cartoon was featured on the DVD "Looney Tunes Super Stars - Bugs Bunny: Hare Extraordinare" and it was last Bugs Bunny cartoon ever for the original studio and the last Looney Tunes short that has the "That's all folks!" end title like ones you seen at the end of every cartoon from 1946 until 1964 But on the DVD it is still in widescreen, but the one you've seen on YouTube is full frame. This ain't no CinemaScope.
1979, actually. Two were made for "Bugs Bunny's Looney Christmas Tales". (Not counting "Bugs and Daffy's Carnival of the Animals" in 1976 because it wasn't in a seven minute format)
@springofpiesucks The one you quoted is the last cartoon RELEASED by the Warner Bros. Studio until the 7-arts period. "False Hare was the last cartoon PRODUCED at the studio. (hint: check the prod. number!)
@jgbennie This was also the last Warner Bros. cartoon from this period to have the "rings" in the titles ("Senorella and the Glass Hurache" had the abstract-WB titles).
@TheCrowneJewel No, this was Bugs Bunny's last short for Warner Bros. Cartoons. Warners closed its studio in 1964. It was briefly opened again in the late 60s but Bugs didn't appear in any of those shorts.
@jgbennie It was also the final appearance of the well-known opening and closing "Looney Tunes" rings and the long familiar version of "The Merry-Go-Round Broke Down". It is also the final appearance of Foghorn Leghorn, who makes a cameo at the end.

@dharmaseed From what I hear, it's a bass clarinet, clarinet and oboe and their notes are attacked with a harp, so that can affect the color :)

For a milder example of what I mean, check out "Falling Hare", and note how the gremlin strikes the bomb with his hammer in tune with the music.
