Treat Williams , good actor, u can see the fear in his face, especialy his eyes,,before they leave te barracks, sad,, very sad, I cry severly evertime, and sheila liked burger from the beginning, she did not want claude, u could tell.
I just think Claude and Sheila belong together. Im glad the ending was different because it brings new dilemma to the audience. Thats what makes a movie so powerful and sadness to this film. I did not want Berger want to die but millions of men lost their lives for nothing. Muhammad Ali said to the US that he had no problems with the Vietnam becuase they did nothing to Ali. Thats why Ali was so brave and stand up saying he didnt wana fight.
@pinkydogbear Sad? Perhaps - But also so powerful. Let the sunshine in - instead of darkness, instead of hate... Love and Peace - thats a powerful message that will soon show its purpose again... There is to much going on in the world today for all of us to just watch and wait what happens. If we do, there will be to much blood lost for no reason again.... Oh well, thats us humans. Aparently it never stops.
me too! and normally I don't cry because of movies.but it's so sad when Berger dies and "let the sunshine in" is a beatiful song and it always makes me cry;(
this film is gr8...i hope that never been the war again..T-T....ou pooor bargareee.....his hot he died for his friend cloude....bargere is very strong maan..i would never go to war...aaah..pooring bargeereee
Oh well! He was supposed to go anyway! He burned his draft card at the beginning of the movie and that is why he left home. Claude is an admirable character because he was doing what he was supposed to, regardless of if he wanted to or now. Berger is like a child, does what he wants. I found great irony that in the end his fate played out the way it was supposed to. Of course, I cried to for him, but people can't run away from their responsobilities. You have to face what life gives you.
No, that "responsibility" is what the State gave us (the state referring to our government). Did we have to kill? The Vietnamese weren't attacking us - they weren't a threat. He was just helping out a friend, and THAT was his responsibility. (At least,in my opinion.)
true MoonEyes..but the feeling, at least for me is that none of those boys should have been consripted to go to that senseless war. vietnam is still the most historic black marks in US history, with Iraq catching up. I am not exacly a liberal, but i can't help but thinking that Iraq is criminal. just my opinion. i am not in agreement with it whatsoever. could you imagine if there was conscription today??
i would of barfed everywhere!

Sad but I found it funny that they gave a THREE MINUTE warning to pack up---that's ridiculous!

@PinkChocolat07 all of them are ready, 3 minutes in enough to get rain coat, pistol belt and helmet, bag is already packed...
