  • thats because a certain preserved railway has around 5 centre cars for some strange reason and runs them in a rake to. shame about the comfy 312s i'm sure they had years of life left in them all because of the minority of uncontrollable idiots opening the doors and jumping out they phased these out before their time was due.

  • That explains why most of the preserved 117's don't have centre cars

  • Lots of memories here! Thanks for posting Oliver.

  • Ah nostalgia aint what it used to be, But how i would love to see these back, nice vid

  • Nice vid Some rare shots of 1st Generation DMU's and EMU's! 5*!

  • bring back first gens!

  • what colour were the 150's when they were put onto that line?

  • They ran in Central trains livery when they 1st arrived, before going into Silverlink livery.

  • Brilliant!!! I love first generation DMU's. But they are hard to drive, fancy having to change gear on a train

  • you had to change gear on a train! what the hell

  • @bronzeonion Absolutely! It's basically a bus on rails. In this case, a Leyland 680 cubic inch (11.2 litre) engine coupled with a 4 speed fluid coupled transmission, in each car. I remember travelling on these when I was a kid, on local routes of upto 50 miles. they were ok for about 70mph.

  • Nice EMU scream there from the 310. Ekin1972, BR!? Don't you mean Network South East (NSE) ;)

  • Excellent. Good old BR!
