  • I'm impressed the cars actually stayed stopped at the gateless crossing even though it was quite a while before the train actually arrived at the crossing! Awesome seeing steam engines no matter where you are; even if you're not into trains.

  • cool, unsynchonised dingle bells ...

  • What r the last three carriages of the train for?

  • Great video. Nice horn.

  • why does railroad crossing dont have a bar that comes down and bells

  • @mommabeardee Well, I can hear the bells ringing on my computer, but I don't know why they aren't ringing on yours. As for the crossing gates, it's a very old set of railroad crossing signals. Even if they were replaced, the new signals might not include gates. Two set of new signals were recently installed on South Shiawassee Street in Owosso and, although they're beautiful with all kinds of additional lights, they don't have gates either.

  • 1225 looks good in the snow even though i live in texas

  • Unique video of cool evening. The moving cars, the blue sky & the sound (horn) of approaching train create a beautiful scene.

The journey by train is rightly called " royal journey ". It's so luxury.

Thanks for sharing this upload. The clear recording has added to the beauty of this video.

  • ehm why is the train going so slow..

  • @PringlePan It's going so slowly because it's pulling long passenger cars through some sharp turns just south of the crossing. It picks up speed shortly after clearing the turns.

  • hey how can i get to Ride on the Train ?

  • Nice

  • Nice vid

  • Great video! I like the bell on the train, especially.

  • Cool steam whistle

  • that poor steam engine has to pull all those cars

  • If I was there waiting for it, I'd be kinda pissed all the smoke hid the engine ha

  • Was she wearing N&W 611's whistle? It doesn't sound like it.

  • Bet the driver of the white sedan at 1:28 didn't expect to see that coming.

  • Absolutely INCREDIBLE video!!!! Wow! Your so lucky to have been there to catch this train. Does it run all year or part time?

  • The blue & yellow striped cars are Canadian. Canadian Pacific with the "CP" logo painted out.

  • No there former VIA cars your right about them being canadian

  • @mindlesspup Actually, they are ex-Via Rail from CN. CP's cars were stainless steel. CN's were smooth-sided steel cars.

  • Wow, imagine sitting in the car in front and watching a blast from the past go by!

  • Im a steam train nut this is one of the best I have seen, good stuff. That wind noise is a real bummer

  • Awesome!!

This is awesome, thank you dude =)

  • Damn, that was great! I cheered when the locomotive passed. Thanks for posting.

  • I have chased Frisco 1522 numerous times and UP 844 before as well. I see the people hurry to beat the signal and think how they would feel later if they knew what they just missed seeing. I wonder how many of those people got the feeling of awe and wonder like they had not felt since childhood. This is a great vid!!!

  • A train passing is an event. A steam- hauled train passing.... now that's something else. Fovourited/ *****. In retirement I'd like to live in a caboose and hook-up to the back of all kinds of regular freight consists.

  • Wunderful video!!

It looks really cold and windy this day ;)

    5*

  • hahaha love the old VIA Rail Coaches. I miss those.

  • wow that was epic

  • 611's whistle sounds very good on the 1225.

  • That is an Old signal. Lansing and Grand Rapids still has some of them on busy tracks.

  • Yes, it's really old!

  • Im in chicago and they still got plenty of those old things as well on one of busiest tracks with new LED lights.

  • whao! 3 cabooses im lucky 2 just c one around where i live at

  • o my i just melt every time i her that whistle i love it!!!

  • I love the horn on that train.

  • I love it, too, Ed.

  • Awesome!

  • Odd that the crossing has no arms.

  • The tracks belong to the Great Lakes Central Railroad that is headquartered here. The "GLC" is rapidly growing, they've laid new rails, and I know some signals are being replaced soon. Maybe some arms will be installed here soon.

  • Nice!

  • Cool love the Ann Arbor cabooses!

  • Fabulous! Takes me right back to my youth and a million places along the line.

  • Can't wait to ride behind 1225 in July.

  • Mike - the head of the Steam Railroading Institute was at a planning and update meeting last night here in Owosso. He said that they had just signed their seventh steam locomotive to the event. This TrainFestival 2009 is going to be phenominal!

  • Are they going to do a spring northerner excursion. that trip is my favorite

  • I'll be looking for some killer videos from you Shafferfox!!!

    -Dan

  • The most impressive scenery of all your vids. Thanks!

  • My grandpa was one of the very first engineers on 1225.

  • It's a great honor to meet you. Such a wonderful part of history your grandfather played. Seeing the train - every time you see the train - must create emotions the rest of us can hardly imagine.

  • AWESOME. It's using 611's whistle again!!!

  • Another amazing video incorporating the best images of cold, snow and steam..thanks once again, keep up the great work..5*..Bob

  • Excellant video right to the end when you can hear the whistle for the next crossing! Well done! 5/5 Rich

  • I love watching the behaviour of USA car drivers at train crossings - no wonder the train drivers make so much noise!

    Thank you for sharing.
