paul that was lovely every good singer has to study singing for quite a while to be worth there salt you have one of the best teachers in the world so dont let stupid ignorent comments stop you from enjoying your voice
Whatever your current voice teacher or anybody else says, this is not good singing. You lack vibrato and strain after the notes, with a sound that simply isn't pleasant. That doesn't mean that you couldn't become a better singer. But you'd have to find a better voice teacher and develop decent vocal technique. Your current teacher is NOT doing that. At the very least, he/she should certainly not be encouraging you to sing in public at this stage in your development .
I really appreciate how difficult it is to go and sing this on stage and hats off for it but i am so sorry that's about all its hats off for. It's clear that you can follow a tune but the vowels and pronunciation were not good. In places it was almost screaming/straining and the song is supposed to be tender and soft - it is a love song. I agree - donlt think of the high notes as a challenge. Like i said well done for getting out there but you need to do more work.
Just a recommendation, get a tape recorder or a voice recorder and sing to it, then play back and listen!! If you observe anything you don't enjoy, then find a way to sing so the sound comes out as pleasing as you want it to sound. :) Just a thought from a self taught singer. :)
It sounds like your forcing your voice to sound operatic? ?Its better to relax more and sing naturally for the time being. And keep your head still. If your serious about singing all this will count eventually.Your hair is sticking up on top also. But at least your having a go.
If English is not your first language id look for another song. This is a classic sung by all the best. You can easy kill it.Check Anthony Warlows version on youtube. He is an opera singer that can change during songs from full operatic to pop with ease. But most importantly...never give up singing...it keeps you alive longer...
Im not exactly sure what this is??.But its better to keep your hands still at your sides untin a high note. Its shows how nervous you are and also is annoying. You want the audience to look at your face not your hands. Also your not singing with any vibrato.Maybe you can't?.This song is a classic.Try to sing along with Mario Lanza or Nathan Granner.Obviously you wont keep up with them. But it will give you some idea of the feeling you must put into this song.
try to link the phrases a little more....take deeper breaths when you can ....again, constructive criticism. Blend the sentences together withouth having to pause for breath
you cut off your top notes way too early...and your medium range needs work. You need to work on your breathing. Your voice has potential. You do genuinely have a good voice and i hope you take the above as constructive crtitisim. Kepp plugging at it kid, youll be there soon. Many congrats on posting...that takes balls...respect !!
You should try to sing "You'll Never Walk Alone," for your next performance. It's written by the same composer and has a the same building tension and emotional payoff. I think you're style would lend well to this song.
I teach voice in Miami and would like to offer some advice.
Try to hold your head straight (align your spine) while you sing. Think of standing sort of like a soldier at attention. It will make all the difference. You tend to "scoop" a little and the movement in the head during singing causes this.
Also try to use a more pure "ooh" sound in words like "you". Yours sound a little like "If I loved Yo".
I know this song very well, and I can tell that the pianist is adding some lovely 9th or 11th to the chord on the "(if I) LOVED YOU" part at the beginning and throughout, which really strengths the overall feeling of the song. The singing came from the heart which is made it powerful and lifted it beyond a couple forced notes at the top range. Keep singing and enjoy every minute of it.
i do hate it when people say guys can't sing. its a lot more of a chanage for them and you are realy good. i tech many boys to sing and you are are at a very hight level
This is me singing live at the guildhall in York, it was a personal trienth for me, after months of taking lessons i finally made that big step of singing live.
Cute as can be!

Squabex is right it sounds so fake when you do that. Also this song is not supposed to be operatic. Its supposed to be more like a ballad.

you also need to express the feeling into this song i know it must be hard but controlling it with feeling will mk the high notes not matter as much
