I just got my bamboo alto sax from Erick. It is way nicer in real life than I was expecting. Thank you brother. Keep it up with your Art and may God keep blessing your mission with those poor kids. I hope more people see all the good they make by buying your creations. We have lots to learn from you.
@azucarplatea hiya- i've been thinking about getting a sax from Erik for a while and I'm sure I want one but I'm torn between the regular alto and the concert alto? I don't really plan on playing with a group- just a hobby but if it has better tone then I think I want it. Which one did you get? It looks amazing in the video- I can't imagine that it would sound even better in real life! You've made me even more excited :P so please reply soon! I'd like some feedback from ppl before i buy thanks!
@azucarplatea _ Hey I'm sorry it took so long for me to respond. I got the regular alto and I love it.
I'm just and aficionado so I'm not planning to play on concerts. I'm very please with the sound. No need more precision than that. It sounds just fine to me. I took my bamboo alto sax with me to Sevilla in Spain. I cannot tell you how many people offer to buy it from me. It came with a super cool leather case and I the riffs I got came in a very handsome wood box.
Wow. I didn't realize jazz was so simple! Cannonball Adderley must have wasted some SERIOUS time with all that useless practice and study, not to mention those years lost on developing aural capabilities and harmonic/melodic vocabulary! If only this video would have come out a century ago!
@edwinnovoa You can develop talent with practice. Plus there is something about his flutes and bamboo saxes that makes it easy to play. I'd also recommend buying his DVD. It is the best teaching DVD I ever bought.
OMG....... i wish i have just a little part of your talent. time to teach us some native american style. please. i haven't hear nothing like you before
you simply have to sing while you're blowing into the instrument. that's the common way to growl i think. other techniques also work though. however i prefer to do it by singing while blowing. also notice how the growling sounds when you sing different notes. by singing the same note there's almost no growling...but the deeper the note related to the played note is the more you get the growl effect. good luck!
Brill video, can you sell me one of those xaphoons please, the fingering looks different from the others on the market, looks like the fingering of a tin whistle is this correct ?
thumbs up if you wish you had one of those bamboo sax and try to see if after watching the video you have become the new charlie parker

how do you produce this "sax growl"? it is great!
megasuperpuperlexa 2 years ago 3
Try to roar or just say something like R (or hR), but in not English way of speaking, rather Eastern European.
Good luck!
