  • If there never was invented the word -Country Music-, there would still have existed TOM T. HALL. He, with his almost narrative-like style of singing is so unique, he is a music-style on its own.

  • @renger29 Ole Tom would have started it???

  • @oldtexasmusic

No, than you get me totaly wrong. I ment to say: he is and has, just as for ex. Jim Reeves, Johnny Cash, Don Williams and many others, so typical himself in his songs, sound and compositions, that, if there was no Country-movement at all, people like them should be just as popular as within these Country-scene. Sorry, it's a bit diff. for me to explain in English, but I hope you get me better now. Have a nice day.

  • @renger29 OK. Sorry I misunderstood but I THINK you are saying that if there was no genre such as country music that Tom would be just as good whatever genre he was in???? Even if he was not in any genre???

  • @oldtexasmusic,

Oké, you are rather 'holding on', but to me he is that kind of entertainer, that always should find his way. I think it's allready so, TTH does not necessarily fit in a 'C&W-jacket', does he ? But if you want him there, it's oké with me. A Statson fits him nicely and I think he like this audience as well.

  • @renger29 Listen, I do not care what ANYONE thinks about musicians and singers that I am familiar with. If I like them or dislike them is MY opinion, and ONLY an opinion. It is NOT fact. That also works in reverse. I THINK we have established that we both like Tom T Hall but to different degrees. My my like or dislike of him would have nothing to do with yours nor would yours have anything to do with mine. I do not care to discuss points that are moot. Have a good day.

  • @oldtexasmusic

Sorry, I wouldn't make you angree. It was just because you kept on asking, I tried to answer. Let's not argume about such un-important matter. It's also nu issue to me, it was just a way of thinking. I appreciate your (=American) Country Music in all its levels, from Little Jimmy Dickens, Bill Monroe, to, let's say even Keith Urban, because C&W was and will be always -on the move-.

I stop this useless conversation because it brings us nowhere. Wish you the best.

  • Marcus - I have always loved this one by Tom T. There's a lot to think about here in this song. I feel every word of it every time I listen to it. We thought those days would never end. Tom can tell a story like no one else and it seems that he just has the pure talent to tell it like it is. He is such a terrific artist. Thank you for posting this one. - Paula
