The first three movies were so appeaIing because it managed to capturep the 17th century so well. The VIC, the british army at sea. Port royal, Tortuga. but does this fight really like "it could have been" back then. i think the only reason people say they loved it is because Jack was in it, who was even less funny then usual.

And it is true that Jack Sparrow and his foolish antics ruin scenes at times, but that has been since the first movie. Personally, I like this one a lot because it is standalone like the first film and not a big complex series like 2 and 3.

Obviously Blackbeard is a real pirate. Obviously Ponce de Leon actually did search for the fountain of youth. London is the Port Royal of this movie, and it works well enough. The historical aspects, for what they try to make historical, are accurate enough.

@LifterC3 Groves is the guy from the first movie who said "that's got to be the best pirate i've ever seen" he was also in the third movie, the guy who was with beckett when the Endeavour was destroyes yelling "orders sir!" he was the the one holding the flag here who was shot. Gillette was in the first movie too, the one who said "this ship cannot be crewed by two men, you'll never make it out of the bay" he was also killed in this scene.
Blackbeard disappointed me in this movie. I was expecting a real badass. But barbossa and Davy jones were much crueler pirates. He just came out like an angry drunk man. which is a shame cuz the actor is really good. could have done much more :(
@darkchibicosmos Blackbeard savagely burned one of his soldiers alive just to set an example, fired a pistol at his daughter not caring if it was loaded or not, and attempted to save his own life by killing his daughter. That is MUCH crueler than anything Barbossa ever did.

As for Davy Jones, he's definately heartless (literally), but his cruelty was caused by Calypso's betraying him. He attacked and destroyed hundreds of ships and killed thousands of men out of pain and anger, and his laugh is merely a mask to conceal his broken heart.

The films hint at a lot for barbossa after shipwrecking Jack and he has no regard for loyalty considering how many people he's betrayed. A true pirate. Blackbeard puts himself first but still has some consideration every now an then for his daughter. HIs life is just more important. Not that she isn't. Pirate

@LifterC3 Ok let me teach you. When a person says something that comes off rude, and it was a mistake on their part for poor wording, they apologize regardless if they mean it or not. For example, if I asked a fat woman, "When are you due?" It would be my responsibility to apologize first even if I meant no offense.

@LifterC3 Groves is the guy from the first movie who said "that's got to be the best pirate i've ever seen" he was also in the third movie, the guy who was with beckett when the Endeavour was destroyes yelling "orders sir!" he was the the one holding the flag here who was shot. Gillette was in the first movie too, the one who said "this ship cannot be crewed by two men, you'll never make it out of the bay" he was also killed in this scene.

Blackbeard disappointed me in this movie. I was expecting a real badass. But barbossa and Davy jones were much crueler pirates. He just came out like an angry drunk man. which is a shame cuz the actor is really good. could have done much more :(

@darkchibicosmos Blackbeard savagely burned one of his soldiers alive just to set an example, fired a pistol at his daughter not caring if it was loaded or not, and attempted to save his own life by killing his daughter. That is MUCH crueler than anything Barbossa ever did.

@KingofBionicle who cares about cruelty? barbossa's 10 times the badass then blackbeard , and therefore took revenge.you might be right about blackbeard bein more cruel then barbossa but i draw the line at davy jones. davy jones delights in cursing his crew memebers so they look all fishy and evil......he has no mercy and tells the kraken to kill every ship it see's. in episode three he kills that mr mercer guy with his face.and he stabs will just for fun. while wills dieing he's laughing.

@Bribickhed6 Your grammar aside, I completely agree about Barbossa, he's probably the biggest badass in the series. As for Davy Jones, he's definately heartless (literally), but his cruelty was caused by Calypso's betraying him. He attacked and destroyed hundreds of ships and killed thousands of men out of pain and anger, and his laugh is merely a mask to conceal his broken heart.

@KingofBionicle still sounds like an angry drunk man to me. The only thing going for blackbeard was his disregard of the code, which Barbossa and Jones both did so it doesn't count. The films hint at a lot for barbossa after shipwrecking Jack and he has no regard for loyalty considering how many people he's betrayed. A true pirate. Blackbeard puts himself first but still has some consideration every now an then for his daughter. HIs life is just more important. Not that she isn't. Pirate

The fact is that the reason i didn't like Blackbeard as much as Barbossa or Jones was because he was TOO cruel. Davy Jones turned evil out of pain and anger. Barbossa was never really evil, just a ruthless deadly, and sometimes downright unpleasant man. Blackbeard's evil had no cause or aim, he just liked killing people and had no soul.

The so called pirate, all pirates fear was downright dull and sometimes boring. and also not THAT evil. i mean did you see how many people provoked him during this movie, yet all he did was threating them with a gun but he never shot anyone. no matter how bad Davy Jones or Barbossa were, i felt sad when i saw them die. but when Edward Teech turned into dust, i laughed because i was glad he was gone.
