@aa3gunner I do mma and karate and i did honestly try that solution on my aikijutsu instructor (well the close range solution not the long range, dont think i'd get to far with that in the dojo) and he kicked my arse, seriously i didnt know how but i was down and in serious pain. Aikikai aikido is the one i dont have time for, yoshinkan aikido and aikijutsu is hardcore, try and see!

Go to STREET FIGHT REAL SELF DEFENSE on here and you'll see how this stuff works and why large movements are necessary to get to the smaller movements.

Aikido really does seem uneffective to me. I have had a grapling spar against a Aikido practicioner - This was back when the only BJJ Experience I had was copying MMA fighters and YT lessons.

He grabbed my hand to try one of them fancy twists, All I did was keep my arm rigid and he was lost, went for a single leg takedown and won by armbar.

Aikido is a beautiful art - but fighting is not beauty or art. I don't believe the two should ever be mixed.

You can find clips to make any ma look bad. In aikido the partners cooperate during partner practice so they both benefit. You can't just make assumptions. You guys have never actually tried aikido. the only reason it looks bad is because they cooperate to learn and preform break falls. Anyone who doesn't know the break falls will be seriously hurt. Any decent aikidoka can beat you up and send you running away crying.
