I have a baby this age called KAtie and I am now crying because I cannot get her a Boxer because we live in a rented house. I love Boxers and my one was the best do ever. Every baby needs a boxer. They are so fun and protective. Best family dgs bar NONE
Most diseases we can contract from animals are things that should be prevented through regular vet checkups. Besides, we can spread more disease to our dogs, cats, and birds than they can to us. If anything, we should be more worried about our animals. They are more likely (as far as I know) to get sick from us in the form of colds, flu's, and certain bacterial infections than we are from them. Point being, everyone should just calm down about the baby getting kisses.
I love how people freak out over these videos. "The baby could get seriously ill." Truth is, most diseases we contract are from each other. Someone sneezes on their hands and then touches a door knob. Another person uses the bathroom and rinses (meaning no soap or disinfectant of any kind) his/her hands with water. This kind of stuff spreads germs. A dog giving a baby a kiss is almost harmless. This isn't to say that animals can't get us sick. It just doesn't happen often.

Aww! Boxers love to lick people, especially people's faces! My poor cousin use to be followed by my old boxer when my cousin was two. No one is safe from a boxer's tounge.
Something funny about these videos... someone said that boxers are the most loyal and protective dogs.. and then there was another where it was the doberman that was the most loyal and protective (and other positive adjectives). Then another that said the pit bull, and another the lab... the only conclusion I can draw from this is that dogs are just awesome as a rule with few exceptions.
@MrKinghuman may be, but that just increases the baby's immune system. if i'm gonna have a baby and a dog some day, i probably wont mind if the dog licks him/her (:
@TheReligionist actually all dogs including pit bulls, if raised from puppyhood are fine with kids... the only thin g i may say is no pit bulls by babies, but then again it is a case by case thing. Dogs are able to sense that you care for the baby so they will also care for it deepl
its normal and good for the baby! childs musst eat dirt its no problem. the licks from the dog are just for a better immune system! better than chemical vaccinations
@moleman1961 Yeh it's a little gross when you think where a dogs tongue has been. But it certainly won't cause any harm... quite the opposite really... gives the immune system something easy to deal with, making it stronger. Haven't you noticed how the germaphobes always seem to be ill? Their immune system rarely gets a good workout.

@moleman1961 I can see your point, but our immune systems can deal with a bit of doggie kisses. We are at a much greater risk of getting germs from ourselves. Hands in mouths (what do out hands touch everyday) Bathroom handles, counter tops, EVERYTHING can give us germs more so that a few kisses from out dogs. - my dog kisses me all the time (never been ill) But, if i have saw him just licking his genitals, then kisses aren't allowed.
