  • I get the impression some people think this was filmed recently and it is morden day Britain but it was filmed in the early 1980's..

  • @YouAreNowWatchingMua yeh. I'm British and cringinggg. God only knows what the Americans must be thinking! Well the good news is is most people aren't like this. This is mainly poorer/working class but the girl he fancies is probs middle class

  • I got through all the books in like a week, I couldn't put them down!

  • excellent !

  • It'd be so great, if someone would make a movie based on this book, not only series ;d

  • I've read nearly every single book in the series, so you can imagine my delight when i did a google search and it said there was a tv series :D

  • in the book there electricity is cut off, when I first read that book it was bye candle light because the electricity was cut off! I even did the dripping of the wax on my school work. no one noticed thou!

  • why does he remind me of harry potter???????..!!

  • @sydneymassive You are forgiven for your belief in this fallacy.

  • it's depressing seeing how brits live. yuk

  • @sydneymassive Just letting you know not all brits live like this, especially now, this show was 30 years ago and the main character is quite poor. Sorry, I don't mean to sound snobby.

  • @Floymin Why whould be glad to start this

  • Harry Potter reminds me of Adrian Mole

  • THis was based on an American book called the secret thoughts of Tony Blitzberg. why have you brits made it all limey?

  • @kelliop The series was based on the book by Sue Townsend called the secret diary of Adrian Mole. I've never heard of Tony Blitzberg.

  • @kelliop it is actually based on the secret diary of adrian mole aged 13 3/4 written by Sue Townsend

  • Idk about this.. but books are awesome..

  • @11igor33 agreed

  • Why is there a baby wining in the background? Adrians an only child until his sister is born a lot later in the book! This may seem pedantic but this is a major part of the book!

  • thanks so much for uploading!

  • So far I'm 5mins in and love that they've kept so faithful to the book, however, Adrian's acting and the way he narrates is AWFUL. Maybe it's cos of how we read it in our head and put voices on, then his monotonous voice is off putting. Shame cos the other characters seem much better.

LOL I just got the 'box' joke which I didn't when I read it as a kid, lol just like him.

And remember she's meant to hot to him, she is like 13-14 years old...

  • im playing Adrian in a monologue im in :P needed this for some background acting.

  • @FourWheelRobot he never mention anything about glasses in the book though

  • @TheKurzzze on the front cover of some copies of the book he has glasses

  • @TheKurzzze That's true (I'm not sure even if in the most recent books where he's in his 30s he wears glasses), but glasses always used to equal nerd.

  • Oh I'd fill Pandora's jar alright OH WHAT A DIRTY SKANK I AM

  • Hey, it's ploppy from blackadder! What a guy!

  • if you watch this, cut yourself

  • Adrian's Dad should've socked that bugger on the jaw here. What a cocky creep

  • this is so damn lame shit. the book is awesome but this series stuff is totally shit

  • He doesn't wear glasses in the book. .. :o

  • O M G ! ! pauline mole became molly weasley ....... can sorta see some of Ron in adrian mole ......

  • Yes,Adrian's mum was played by Julie Walters and in The Growing Pains his mum was played by Lulu

  • i didn't even know this existed... i just randomly searched for it. AM books are my favorite books of all time....

  • haha it's so funny when he finds out nigel's gay xD

  • I can't believe I found this on here lol I recall watching this on TV all those years ago. I loved it! I swear Gian Sammarco (Adrian) reminds me of Daniel Radcliffe?

  • I need to show this to my son - 13 1/4 yrs old! Brings back lots of memories as it was sent on norwegian television when I was at that age. Anyone who knows if it's available on dvd?

  • @HEIHVHOL

I think you could find a VHS tape on amazon or ebay, don't think it's been re-released on DVD though

  • I wasn't born when this was first shown, but i love it.I have this and The growing pains of Adrian Mole on dvd, they are both great.

  • lolll.. preferred the books and I always visualise Adrian Mole as my friend Aaron..

  • never saw that bad actors before...

  • Is that Nervous Nerris from Only Fools and Horses? Adrian's Mum I mean...

  • @fruitcake0anon its Julie Walters

  • He was my first Harry Potter.

  • Thanks for uploading this mate - precious memories of this memorable series growing up and reading the wonderful books - cheers again

  • i was reading the stats for adrian mole on IMDB, and i was SHOCKED to discover that nigel is played by the same guy that played eddie in "lock stock and two smoking barrels". i also have the secret diary on dvd, and i am waiting on the growing pains on dvd :)

  • @andredsmith221

I met that guy in Waterstone's book shop in Picadilly once. He wasn't too keen to chat.

  • @boydegg i made a mistake....... he played winston, not eddie. the dude in charge of growing all the ganga. chill winston.....

  • erugh. Pandora

  • sue townsend lived in my city, only a couple of streets away ^^

  • I think I'm starting to get a crush on Adrian mole.....strange

  • I agree about the accent.....not very Leicester more brummie/Northampton (especially when gian/Adrian says 'card')

  • Why the Brummie accent when it's set in Leicester?

  • its been broadcast in polish national tv in early 90's. i ran from school to watch it.

  • Go buy ur self orange then!!!!!

  • Ahhh, just the old Thames intro makes me smile.

  • 09:28 ankle bashers much...

  • I was addicted to this programme back in the day.

    Great nostalgia!!

  • "Pandora has got the same colour eyes as our dog" Hahahaha!!!!! Thats one of the best lines!!!

  • Good but the characters looks totally different than I fought they would look, especially Bert Baxter and Pandora.

  • Oh my gosh I'm so glad someone has managed to preserve this!!

Love Adrian Mole, and very much of it's time. Love it!

  • @theresuga Just read prostrate years.Annoyed because i taped this off tv.I have lost the the tape

  • amazing books, but this is laaame, crap acting:L

  • @rob3927

Julie Walters is not a crap actor mate.

  • there are to many bad comments about this. which is a shame because it was,and still is a very good sitcom. enjoy it and stop bitching...............

  • @nickviking1 Its a book genius.

  • I can't get over the Brummie accents :( We don't talk like Brummies in Leicester. But fabulous apart from that.

  • @littleleicesterfox It is a bit irritating when a TV series is set somewhere in the north, the midlands or wherever and all the actors (who usually aren't from that area) do an over-the-top regional accent, making their characters seem thick as two planks.

  • Damn, I had forgotten about this, it even aired here in Norway. What memories. :D

  • Were we really like that in the 80's. Teenagers hey they don't what it was like for us back then LOL

  • The book was great, this is kinda crappy.

  • Is this just uploaded from a DVD? If so, where did you get it? I've been looking for it for years.

  • Bert Baxter is the sex.

  • could you imagine sending your kids round to an old mans house these day's

  • Adrian has many enemies, but no overal enemy.

  • I've got to play Adrian Mole for a GCSE Drama exam anyone got any tips for me?

  • OMG thanks for posting these..sooo many memories. He actually looks a bit like Harry Potter!! haha

  • Does anyone know were to buy this on dvd??

  • Does anyone know were to buy this on dvd??

  • Does anyone know were to buy this on dvd??

  • @HEIHVHOL yea the 80s lol

  • none of them look anything like i imagined them to be!

  • Fuck ulladulla high school!

  • were doing this for our play and its so boring:@

  • Spotty version of that Bastard Harry Porter!!

  • were doing this in drama, i play grandma!

  • would love 2 watch whole episode. i was 1r younger than moley when broadcasted.

  • Any chance of finding the growing pains of adrian mole? can't find it anywhere! Thanks for this upload its great!

  • Thanks so much for posting. I loved these books and missed the series on tv here in the states.

  • Damn! And I forgot how Nigel is the book's Nigel too! Harry Potter, eat Adrian Mole's shorts! ;0)

  • He really is Aidy Mole. She really is Pauline. Amazing job! Tnx for the upload, since Portugal!

  • @Salaminguana Except for the fact they speak with a Brummy accent when they are from Leicester!

  • @cmdfarsight You're right, I believe, only I am Portuguese and hardly recognize cockney, geordie and Scotish accents :)

  • There is no makeup in this I suppose to make it seem as if real?

  • Loved this series as a kid and read the book at the same time as it was on so even in the latter books I have an image of Adrian looking like his character does here but older. Even Pauline, George, Grandma and Pandora look the same in my imagination except Pandora is obviously now a glamourous Chanel-wearing Politician! Thanks for uploading.

  • Adrian was so much cooler than this. I imagined him more like Brian from Starter For Ten

  • I sort of don't like Adrian's accent in this, I imagine it as quite posh, sort of stephen-fry's, I love this adaption though, I once saw it I think of video and that was before reading the books, I'm as I type this on the 3rd book and I LOVE this.
